  1. Breeo, but this. Has to be a very hot, large fire for it to be smokeless. It also needs to be enclosed in a backyard with very little to no wind. Not sure how they get away with the smokeless tag. Solo, Breeo, whatever will never be smokeless in a flat, wide open spot
  2. The Fox News model. Yes it’s almost exclusively old, but other than sports, CBS and Fox News are the only channels viewers watch live. Surely that some value for advertisers.
  3. I’ve sat with it some. Holy shit, The Night of the Cleaning Lady was terrible. The pacing, the music, the cinematography. It’s just so unavailable. It was like if 20 maids waiting for a Metro bus in River Oaks suddenly turned into zombies, dragged their employees out of their houses, and ate them.
  4. Should have ended it with Pryor dropping his dad’s dead body through the ice. The cleaning lady uprising is one of the dumber/lazier conclusions I’ve ever seen.
  5. Mooching. Sex without strings. No filter. I’d say J Smoove’s approach is completely different, but it’s the same result.
  6. Livingston is pretty rough. One of the worst state prison units in the country is located there. Plenty of convicts, sex offenders and their families living up there. I don’t see this ending well. Hopefully she’s alive. I’ll leave it there. Small quibble from the press release. The suspect is most likely a member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, not the Aryan Brotherhood (The Brand). While AB of Texas is definitely a white prison/street gang, it’s not The Brand. The Brand is almost exclusively in federal prisons, and I believe they’ll only make new members in federal lockup.
  7. Pretty damn funny scenes. The Drum v. Ouiser rivalry is great. M’Lynn’s grief is so raw and real. Sally Field is an amazing actress. Also peak Julia Robert’s hotness. I always group Steel Magnolias and Terms of Endearment together because of Shirley MacLaine and the mother-daughter dynamic. A terrific movie shot in Houston in the 80s. Peak Jack Nicholson charm. The lunch scene at Brennan’s is a personal favorite of mine. Also I like Debra Winger.
  8. Fried Green Tomatoes. Pretty solid mystery + Kathy Bates is hilarious.
  9. They went back to the well and we got a classically Curb episode. A lot of positives: - Leon’s Kramer like storyline. - Golf and country club shenanigans. - Susie chewing out Jeff and Larry. - Good, but brief dinner party. Freddy’s situation fits him like a glove. I agree with the post above, a longer dinner scene makes it a better episode. Maybe cut out the Tubman lemon tree, it didn’t really work. - Ted Danson rivalry. - Larry of course tries to do the right thing with the deaf actor and it backfires.
  10. The only way to completely shut them up is to win the SEC and the CFB. So let’s do that in 2024.
  11. Feels a little late on Murphy, but yes, I too would take that.
  12. When did this become the norm? Maddox is on record that he called his own games.
  13. I don’t know shit about it. @LTtxfan might know something about it. My family has season tickets, and they’ve never mentioned it when discussing the Cavs. Feels like a nothing burger.
  14. Sepinwall realizes he wrote last meaningful recap after Mad Men ended. So instead of working for a living and writing his own show, he’s pay for play. Give me Season 3 as the best finale. The Season 1 finale was the worst episode of the whole season.
  15. What is the most reputable used car dealer? I’ve had good experiences buying from CarMax, but they’re routinely serval thousand dollars higher than their competitors for very similar vehicles.
  16. I could see shrimp boils on the uptick after this year. They were pretty big with rodeo and O&G socials back in the day. People might realize again that boiled shrimp taste pretty good and require 1/10th of the work as cracking a crawfish. But… it’s become a very Houston thing. Almost every bar with a food license sells crawfish. And every town south of Huntsville has big ass crawfish festivals. I think the margins were better in the recent past and they’ve trapped themselves. There’s only one place I’ll pay for crawfish in Houston, but I’m not giving it up out of fear of being down voted like a Ketch sock. There are enough of these boils in Houston where if you have a job or a social network, you really shouldn’t really have to pay for crawfish. Be a generous guest, bring booze.
  17. They were slinging mudbugs at H-E-B San Felipe this afternoon. A terrible season, the fact it’s February, and 40 degree weather can’t kill it off in Houston.
  18. I’d pass on all 3. Sinarta is interesting, but I’d recommend just getting a pour at the bar.
  19. Vaughn is great in Dragged Across Concrete too. The guy can do whatever he wants, but he needs a good script. Gritty indies and creeping out Larry David seem to be his new lane.
  20. I like it quite a bit, but I haven’t stumbled across a bottle yet. That’s a pretty decent price. I think Total sells it in the $220 range.
  21. The cold weather states topping the list doesn’t surprise me. There’s a reason the average Russians drink 180 bottles of vodka a year.
  22. Del Viste is a quieter, less showy option than Carrabba’s on Voss if you’re looking for good Italian food in Tanglewood/Memorial. I haven’t ordered anything on the menu I didn’t like. Lamb lollipops are terrific. I don’t really like salad, but their house salad works. I swing by quite frequently and grab it to go.
  23. It fur sure slams hard, but I wish they’d work in a special. You’re in the $25 range for a burger and a beer.
  24. Maybe. Specs not being able to move their Elijah Craig BP pick for weeks and weeks could be the canary in the coal mine. It’s a little young at 8 years and not priced well at $92, so it could be a one off. Based on the December drop picks, I’d say Austin and Dallas have cooled off. I might drive up to Austin next year for it.
  25. Carmine did it the right way. Pulled Tony to the side and talked to him privately. But yes, it was a dumb thing to call him out on.
