  1. Looks like Bib & Tucker is Dickel, and Chestnut Farms is Barton. That covers most of Total Wine guy's portfolio. Spec's is guilty of this too (Walking Stick), but 99% of the people that walk on to the bourbon aisle on Smith Street know better. If the Russian guy depends on sales bonuses, he's starving.
  2. I'm really digging Season 4 on my rewatch. Marlo is probably my favorite character on the show. Just cold, calculating evil, and he's also probably the most brilliant character on the show. He got over on the police, the courts, and most impressively Prop Joe. Genius level street smarts.
  3. Correct. All great shows. I just liked We Own This City more. Perfect storm of The Wire vibes + Bernthal.
  4. How many episodes are we talking about in Atlanta? They need to get back to LA in a hurry.
  5. I’m not sure how their comp works, but I’d imagine there’s a group bonus for moving certain units. It’s the only explanation I came up with for them aggressively pushing bottles no one has ever heard of.
  6. I’d imagine it’s the level of competition. It’s the sole thing Bijan was dinged on during his recruitment. I think Bijan is the lazy comparison for Clark. Both from Arizona, the jump cuts, but Clark’s lower body is a bit thicker. I’ll go out on a limb and say he weighed more than Bijan when he enrolled at Texas.
  7. I’ve always liked TW’s RRSiB picks, but they go pretty fast. Their Jefferson’s Twin Oak picks are consistently good as well, but it’s not priced well at $77. The TW near my house is mysteriously the worst location in Houston, if not Texas, so I don’t shop there much.
  8. You might be fine. My notoriously cheap coworker got TW’d, and he liked his bottle of Bib & Tucker. I’ve tasted it at the store a couple times, and didn’t think the price was worth it.
  9. Yeah, it feels like ESPN’s contribution is going to look similar ESPN+, and maybe FOX kicks in FS1. I’d imagine Discovery will probably have to put their full inventory into it. Discovery was never going to make much money on B/R Sports, so I’m sure they’ll happy to do it. Could be a nice option for hoops heads and people that still play fantasy baseball.
  10. Pretty much this. Bagel Heisenberg would have been better off popping up at the farmer market on Airline. He’d sell out in 20 minutes with pretty low overhead. Go play golf for the rest of the day. Profit. The silver lining is restaurant groups and investors know the Heights is thirsty for decent bagels. I’m sure a suitable alternative will emerge. Authenticity and freshness is key for bagels. Just make them how they make they’re made in NYC, and the product should be pretty good. I don’t know if that’s a sustainable model for a restaurant in Houston. I’ve had subway bagels in NYC that are better than anything I’ve had in Houston.
  11. When I go to City Centre, I usually park by Postino and walk over. Unfortunately, several hundred people usually have the same idea. There’s usually a few spots, but it’s competitive.
  12. For once, well played by Zaslav. He undercut ESPN and FOX by offering B/R Sports for free for 4 months and then $10 a month. While leaking to everyone in Hollywood that ESPN’s streaming only service would cost $40+. He parlayed the NBA, MLB, and the opening weekend of March Madness into a seat at the big boy’s table.
  13. Every generation is different. I remember when working at a Whataburger in high school was a point of pride, and it was damn near impossible to get a job at Chick-fil-A. My brother was the drive thru guy at the new CFA near our childhood home. The franchise owner called every single one of his references, and had lunch with our youth pastor before he’d hire him. It was a pretty good gig. The pay was higher than many entry level jobs available, and he scored some numbers.
  14. I’d agree it worked out for Gillis. Jost is probably the only bigger name on the current cast and that’s because of Scarjo.
  15. Blue is probably gone if he has a slightly better junior season. He’ll test well and is a good receiver. Thats enough to draw a NFL paycheck. Clark and the youngsters will get plenty of chances soon.
  16. Again, I’m not really into the 95%+ up and ryes, but I like Piggyback. Tastes pretty good, and it’s priced well.
  17. What are you trying to say Htown? Haha. I’d quietly move him out for an unprotected first.
  18. I think it’s getting better… but to call it better than Season 2 is a stretch. Making Jodi Foster, Jodi Foster, the apex sexual predator in a small Alaska town is a choice.
  19. Heights problemos. NY Deli in Meyerland almost always has an empty seat at the counter. Hot Bagel is usually OK if it’s not Saturday or Sunday morning.
  20. Prez is a saint in Season 4. He gave Dukie a chance. He was good police, but he should have been riding a desk. McNulty should have ordered Prez to stay in the car at the end of Season 3. What a sad scene.
  21. I’ve sat with it some, We Own This City is the best thing HBO had produced in the past 5 years.
  22. Ayo is painfully unfunny. I hope she’s not invited back.
