  1. It could be worse. Y'all could be Browns or Jets fans.
  2. I'd imagine there are some Venezuelan oil expats in Houston who are toasting this news.
  3. That is a sexy boat.
  4. When was the last offsides offense on an extra point?
  5. My wife, her godmother, and our daughter are going on a European tour for April. “How much money should I be ready to take?” (To be fair, the best lesson I learned in my starter marriage was to keep separate bank accounts.) I just looked up and said “my credit card?” It's the week before Christmas, so the entire conversation was her indirect way of letting me know that is what she wants. She's crafty - when we go shopping I will tell her to use my card to buy an outfit/purse/shoes/etc on me. Then she asks “budget?” and I tell her and she will then go slightly over and then Venmo me the difference.
  6. Was glass smooth then the wind kicked up to 30. So much fun running 15 miles straight back into a whitecap chop with an effective 70mph headwind.
  7. My cousin is in town for our annual family party, and we ran to one of my favorite winter spots near Bridge City and caught 32-38 inch reds til our arms fell off. All sight cast under the birds as they rolled/busted the surface, honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a concentrated school that big in my life—only one slot. December can be weird and awesome.
  8. Very prescient. Reframing fraud as “anti-woke capitalism”
  9. May 2024 I spent the day with a CoP CTO who was trying to solve for metering carbon storage to monetize a $8b tax credit. Now he’s probably working on how to reintroduce leaded gas. According to AI, ESG didn’t go away, it grew up.
  10. Saw this on a blog I follow. For context if you’re not in my particular cult - the founder of AA was at Winchester Cathedral during WWI and was struck by this tombstone - a soldier whose demise involved drinking.
  11. It really depends on your level of affection for the parents. A couple of cans of Krylon spray paint or a big canister of those poofy fake snowballs for indoor snowball fights? A Nerf football or lawn darts?
  12. Pretty sure my knock off academy Boga is 30 years old and is indistinguishable from a real one.

I may have finished my lifetime allotment of booze while still in my 30s, but I chortled at that bottle of Pappy soaking the ground.
  14. A friend of mine just pivoted from project management to business development, and he takes customers fishing every Friday.
  15. I can afford $4 gas but I can't afford $2 gas. /SETX. Redacted- completely assholeish tone deaf selfish statement about royalty checks.
  16. Thanks. So far the other carrier is being reasonable, and the body shop says they have had claims handled by them that haven't been difficult.
  17. Bump. About $5m in contracts to book the next two weeks. Turned out to be the best sales year in my career x 4.
  18. That is how it's done. I love it.
  19. Amen. Headed to my home group, this on the stereo.
  20. Help me think this through. Especially in light of C-Man’s previous post and a suspect carrier. On Monday my wife was sitting at a light in a pouring rainstorm and was hit from behind by a lady who I suspect was distracted. I arrived 10 minutes post accident and she was hysterical - 25 yrs old, telling me she drives for door dash and has 3 kids. I just wanted to make sure she didn't need first aid or an ambulance as all her airbags were deployed. Per her address on the accident report she lives in a rough neighborhood. I've been praying for her as it appears this accident impacts our lives far less dramatically than hers. I've got USAA and the at fault driver has Dairyland. My research suggest Dairyland is a non-standard insurer for high-risk drivers, and the witness who was cool enough to stick around until the v police arrived and gave me her information said that the at fault driver had SR-22 insurance, which seems sub optimal. Reviews suggest that carrier sucks. The at fault driver was cited for failure to control speed. I've filed a claim with dairyland, but right now I’m leaning towards filing with USAA and letting them hash it out with the other carrier. I'm going to use a reputable shop and am about to have it towed over tomorrow, and either get a rental from USAA or have my wife use her late mother’s car. Wife got hit hard - we immediately went to one of those neighborhood ERs and she had scans to rule out fractures, and she's taking toredol. I told her that's what they give banged-up football players so they can get back on the field. Whiplash, back pain, neck pain - at this point I'm ready to unleash my lawyer for justifiable pain and suffering damages. Lawyer said for my wife to give him a dollar and keep him in the loop, he is essentially my surrogate dad after my own passed away. So, should I just have the car towed to my preferred shop and unleash USAA? At what point do I ask my lawyer to take action?
  21. Yes. It's not heresy anymore. Great brisket and it's so damned convenient.
