  1. ^ WTF?
  2. Is Portland Burning? This is a link to the live cameras around Portland.
  3. Just picked up two tickets to NIN in San Francisco. They're not coming to Portland on this tour so I'll go to them. I'm looking forward for my travel concert plans. 10/31: Viagra Boys, Stereolab, Black Lips @ Far Out ATX (My buddy and I got our shrimp costumes already lol) 11/1: DEVO & B52's ATX - DEVO gear is happening of course 11/11: Tame Impala - Forum in LA (fly in fly out) 3/15: NIN - San Francisco (fly in fly out)
  4. You should check out their opener King Buffalo. Pretty bad ass psychedelic stoner rock.
  5. Ricky has experience playing FB Bijan could be behind him
  6. I have dinner with my parents every Wednesday. I'm really happy that my 14yo son gets to spend so much time with his grandparents. He might not appreciate it much now but when they're gone he'll have a wealth of memories to look back on. My mom is 82 and my dad is 79. They're not in the best of health but have recently started trying to improve. Dad has lost 15lbs (85 to go) and my mom has started going to the pool to work out and rebuild strength. I'm really proud of them but I've noticed in the past few months they've been talking about their impending death, a lot. Yesterday, my mom wanted to show me her new book and presented me with this: I appreciate that they want to make things easier for me and my sister when they pass but this feels so morbid. I suppose I need to quit with the denial and accept that the end is nigh. It's tough to think about.
  7. Got free tickets to see Redder Moon tonight. They are a goth darkwave band. I look forward to the goth tattooed girls that will be in this windowless basement venue. For real. That is my wheelhouse.
  8. Gas up here in the PNW is closer to $5/gallon.
  9. That turned my stomach. Fuck!
  10. So big change of plans for my trip to Texas. Instead of flying in to Houston to see Devo and the B 52'son 11/2 I am now flying in to Austin to see Viagra Boys on Halloween and Devo on Saturday 11/1. Probably be in a shrimp costume for Halloween and my Devo gear for, well, DEVO. I'll have at least one of my compatriots with me in full gear.
  11. I get it. I had lumped them in with the Sleaford Mods as soccer hooligan music. Then I watched that documentary I posted upstream. It completely changed my opinion of them. Now I love them.
  12. Thank you, sir!
  13. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening to wrap up my summer backyard concert series. The warm sunny day transitioned to a clear cool evening and made for a sublime setting for an amazing performance from Tim Perry and Mira Stanley. I am so grateful and honored that artists of this caliber grace the stage in the Backyard at the Barage and share their immense talents.
  14. I want to see Idles sooooo bad! If you haven't checked out their documentary it is well worth a watch. Completely changed my perception of them.
  15. Worth it. They put on a great show. Research Chemicals was particularly great.
  16. Not The Ritz. I was pretty much a fixture there in the 90's. My roommates worked there.
  17. Very cool!
  18. That sucks. I knew it was intentional but you never want to hear about people being shitty.
  19. Viagra Boys last night was epic! They've amassed a great crowd that were totally in to the show. Crowd surfing shrimp and some bare boobies. One of the best shows I've seen in a while. Die Spitz opened and were a lot of fun though the mix was bad and volume at half level. Frustrating to not hear the vocalists.
  20. I saw them in Portland a couple of weeks ago. It was fucking awesome.
  21. Sextile 9/13 Viagra Boy (w/ Die Spitz) 9/14 Tim Perry (of Ages & Ages) 9/20 on my backyard stage Nation of Language 10/11 DEVO & B52's 11/2 - going back to my real hometown of The Woodlands to see them. Pixel Grip 11/4 Wine Lips 11/7 Tame Impala - I tried to get tickets to the Austin show but there were 57,000+ people ahead of me in the queue so I bailed and got a ticket for Los Angeles. Gonna fly in, see the show, and fly out at 7am. No sleep motherfuckers!!
  22. Next saturday 9/20 is my last show of the season as it starts to get cold and wet around here soonthereafter. Tim Perry is the man behind one of my favorite Portland bands, Ages & Ages. When I reached out to him to play on my little backyard stage I never ever thought he would say yes so I am beyond thrilled to host him.
  23. The Leo Moon Trio played Saturday night. Atmospheric soul crushing existential folk would probably be the best description. I dug it. Their song "Gulf of America" was a highlight for me. They also played a couple of covers (Girls Just Want To Have Fun and Harvest Moon) that were an interesting take on the original. Lead singer, Brian, was in Blitzen Trapper and Dead Lee. Great voice and lyrics. Plays acoustic guitar. Kate was on violin Fred on lap steel.
