  1. Last long region I trip for Lampasas this week. They will meet Dumas in Andrews this Friday. Lampasas will drive 305 miles to get there and Dumas a little over 280. The next round should be in Waco with Brownwood the possible next opponent if they can beat West Plains. If not it’ll be a 3rd long bus ride. At least this year there will be no repeat of the bus driver completely screwing over any chance Lampasas had to win their 2nd round game last year against Alice by taking a route that put them squarely into rush hour traffic and got them to their game late. I think @4thand5 can tell this story better than I can as his father knows all those details. An aside to this is in early June the entire Andrews High School band visited NYC and I took care of them. Really nice kids and probably the most well mannered group of people I have ever had. It’s rare to hear someone say yes sir and whatnot, especially a teenager. Those young Texans were really nice and so were the adults that came along with. I told them to watch out for Lampasas since they could meet in the playoffs, but they went and did every Badger fan a solid. They beat Burnet 35-21 last week. Any team that beats Burnet is a favorite of mine.
  2. The Great McDonald’s plague of 2025 will start in the White House. The National Champion Longhorns will be the unwitting first victims of the tainted double quarter pounders. Pity the toilets on the plane ride back to Austin.
  3. I am a very ardent supporter of the people in our military. I believe they take that oath they took to the Constitution seriously. Push comes to shove I am of the belief that our military will tell him to kick rocks on harming American citizens. For me the historical perspective comes from looking at how the Japanese were sworn to protect the Emperor. Not the people, but the Emperor and their honor first. It was not an oath to a document of ideas for the country. It was an oath to defend their Emperor to their very last breath and then it was off to Yasukuni Shrine.
  4. I see price gouging in grocery stores here that is just incredible. 18 dollars for a frozen pizza just makes me laugh. I can go to a chain pizza place and get two pizzas cheaper than that.
  5. So if my soon to be alma mater of ASU wins out they will be in the playoffs. BYU travels to Tempe this coming week. Should be a fun game.
  6. Montrezl Harrell doing everything he can to prove he should get another look from an NBA team. Joey Wright used to be the head coach of the 36ers for several years. Harrell was having a good season in the NBL to this point as well. I like keeping up with Aussie sports and this just happened today. https://www.espn.com.au/nbl/story/_/id/42438033/nbl-montrezl-harrell-fans-ejected-tensions-boil-melbourne
  7. What will happen will happen. I had no say in policy when Biden was there and I have none now. I at least trusted Biden to mostly do the right thing. Life is so very, very short. Just enjoy each day that you are given. The only thing any of us has control over is our own emotions and how we treat others. Do your best by others and show as much kindness as possible to those who need it.
  8. There are definitely some areas in Texas that have to have those fields. I always worry about injuries on artificial turf though. I just do not seem to remember such a high incidence rate of ACL tears and similar injuries when more grass fields were in use.
  9. One of the things I really do like about my hometown is that Lampasas still uses the same field they have had that was built during the WPA-era in 1935. Generation after generation play on the same field. They also haven’t put artificial turf down like so many schools have opted to do. I do not believe they will ever leave that field for a new one or go away from natural grass.
  10. Will good ol Bill In Sinton be in attendance with his focusness? I talked to him one time on the phone years ago. He was a pleasant enough guy. I have another friend in Sinton that knows him as well.
  11. If you know what the going rate on blowjobs under overpasses is you will have your answer.
  12. I was just explaining what a lot lizard was to someone a couple of hours ago so this hits close to home.
  13. He’s a Trump University grad. A university that was so elite it doesn’t even exist anymore. Only the true believers graduated from it.
  14. When she eats chips and salsa does it come out of a jar of Pace?
  15. We are going to have some really fun additions to this thread over the next four years. A whole bunch of people with an IQ of potato are about to find out starting in January.
  16. McConnell is a craven coward who loved having power, but he got all of his power before god king came onto the scene. Graham went from trashing the maga clowns to gladly being one as it was his path to more power.
  17. There is absolutely nothing Graham will not say or do in order to gain more power. The day he dies will be the 2nd best Magaworld death behind their orange god.
  18. Going to be deporting a lot of doctors, lawyers, bankers and tech magnates among the hordes of illegals it sounds like. What a time to be alive to witness all this stupidity. Can’t wait to see some dumbfounded looks from maga cult members when their favorite restaurants close down because there is no one to cook their food or clean their dishes.
  19. Going to have the small percentage of farms that are run by families get taken in by large corporate farming operations. Who could have seen it coming that their orange god king would be cool with this? I do not feel one bit bad for any farmer that voted for him getting their comeuppance in the form of being broke and destitute.
  20. I tell people that I made a few drives from Dallas to Los Angeles and that half of the drive was just getting out of Texas. I always felt bad for the small Class A far northern panhandle schools who would make it to the state basketball tournament when I used to go to it years ago in Austin. They would put the distance to Austin next to it in the program and one school had to drive 619 miles to lose an 8:30 in the morning game on Thursday. Now the trip would be even further for them having to go to San Antone.
  21. I would say we have no comparable nation in history due to the aforementioned size, but also the diversity. That diversity is our greatest asset, but also our greatest weakness as well. A diverse culture only works when we have a majority pulling towards the common or greater good. The last time that we as a country collectively pulled towards the greater good was the Second World War. That was truly a nationwide effort. Yes I think if you take it down to looking at control groups that you will invariably have some that really want those levers of power. It is my belief in our military though that keeps the worst impulses of civilians leaders from visiting the worst upon the populace. I trust that they have been preparing g for this scenario longer than this board and community has existed. I trust the men and women in our military to do the right thing. And thanks. Two years in Hawaii with some trips southwest to be made in preparation for further adventures should be fun. Gotta learn as much as I can before setting sail. So much history available living there about the Pacific and it’s peoples that I just cannot get here in NYC.
  22. I think we look way, way, WAY too much into the Nazi regime for how things will play out. It’s what is most familiar to people when it comes to how authoritarian regimes operate. We are not that and the things that allowed their rise were a set of circumstances unique to them. Same as circumstances now are unique to us and how these cretins crawled out from under their rocks to get back into the 1st chair. I look at police not as having some fever dream of causing havoc upon the population. I do look at way too many of them thinking they are a military force that can do as they please, especially with who will be the president again. We make it through these four years and then it’s onto the next internal and external challenges. It just goes on and on until we wind up like every other world power. Or not. None of us here on this board will live long enough to see what ultimately happens to the United States. You just do the best you can each day as a person and you go onto the next one and hope for the best. The rest is out of my control as well as every other person on this board. I fully trust our military to make the right decisions. I won’t be on the mainland ever again though once I get on the next flight to the Pacific though. I will get the view from afar I guess. Should be fun traveling and living in countries that actively do not like Americans like myself who have no protections for me from possible violence.
  23. I am not overly worried about this either. We, for better or worse, have war hawks in the congress and senate that will be working behind the scenes to see this not happen. My worry about a military that turns on Americans or gets degraded as a fighting force sits about as high on the list of hypotheticals as me receiving a call from the Lakers asking me to be their new shooting guard.
