  1. At this point it's no fucking secret ATM is despised in their conference and beyond. Any of them taking this for a conspiracy are simply falling prey to the most aggy attitude of all, complete lack of self awareness. I'm hoping their rough start to this cycle creates an impulse to double down on ridiculous promises in an attempt to catch up. The grave is never deep enough
  2. On the money. An edgy teen would rather cease to exist than even imagine rampaging with a vintage, wooden semi auto. Even a Uvalde PD larper might have charged in if he knew he was facing an M1 and not an AR15
  3. Major missed opportunity here with Battinson
  4. China has J-20s and is a nuclear power, ditto for Russia, so the impetus for attacking at all is a non starter if they're supposed to be either of these nations. It's modelled more after Iran or Lybia, client states of the major military industrial powers, buying stuff like jets and SAMs
  5. "Rogue State" is as far as they went. Only thing Russian about them were the Su-57s, but then again they also had F-14s. Iran would very loosely fit the bill
  6. Thanks for that, forgot how good The Right Stuff was, last saw it when I was 7 I think, I should watch it again. Homage or not, this scene is bang on from a technical sense, complete apples to oranges to what the Top Gun hypersonic test scene went
  7. F-35C was the one in the opening scene. The Death Star trench run design of the big challenge ruined it all for me. You can still make a movie about old school pilotage and teamwork yada yada with some close in dogfighting and ground striking without crafting a scenario where the use of manned conventional (non stealth) aircraft is the WORST approach and least likely to succeed. The cruise missiles, particularly tomahawks, would themselves fly roughly the same speed as the Hornets and would be subject to the same anti aircraft dangers as the rest of the flyers. If it's going to be CGI anyway, make them JASSMs at least. And use some Growlers and show that side of the engagement, detection, jamming, it can still be a movie! You CAN adapt to the times just a little bit, it will still be fun Old Top Gun and new Top Gun alike many times made ejection a central theme and made it clear it's a dangerous thing in its own right, except we just started the movie with a Mach 10 RUD at 200k feet agl and cut to Mav walking into a diner asking for some water. Same with the G forces, it's relevant only after Maverick and Rooster do a death spiral 90 degrees to the ground. Typical movie stuff, but having just a modicum of respect for the subject matter would go a long way. Agreed on Hondo, he went from black project testing leader or what have you, to useless but loveable and chubby sidekick status in an instant. The maneuver of choice time and time again to gain the upper hand in their crafted dogfights is the cobra, renowned the world over as an airshow gimmick, and utterly useless in combat. Not to mention the Hornet and especially Tomcat can't do it, but yes, here it works vs an opponent with thrust vectoring. There's other ways to do this that doesn't result in nonsense. I guess I'm in the minority but the technical side of this movie struck well below average even for Hollywood action, and that's saying something
  8. He had a bad tipped ball off his hands for an int even before the scrimmage, hardly any pressure, he's not a D1 receiver imo
  9. Why the fuck are you arguing this point? Negative recruiting hits on all the broken shit
  10. Because there's dozens of schools that could entice him with an RB1 spot, and he's solidly 5th here
  11. Warren, Liebrock, Garth, J Davis, Hookfin, Abiara, Jordon Thomas, Broughton, Dorbah, Richardson, Hullaby, Blue, Harrison, Coffey, Omeire, Ibraheem, Guilbeau, Dixon, Washington, Alexis, Collins, Richardson, one out of Card/Murphy/Ewers 20 could be easy to reach
  12. And the rest go to Sam Houston State. Not crazy to me at all, these guys all sucked
  13. Good shit, I think all your points are spot on from my impressions
  14. So, do these guys seriously think Worthy wouldn't burn Jamier Johnson when in single coverage? Only a large, long, AND fast corner has a prayer against a player like Worthy in that situation, only guy we have like that is Watts. Or a really long LB getting a lucky swat on the pass, which very nearly occured.
  15. Some observations from in person viewing. Safeties look improved over last year, addition by subtraction, and some actual addition. Allen looked great, and Crawford had one play to the flat that he overran badly, but his reaction time and speed are nice and overall looked great as well. Watts dominated Dixon, no contest at all. Watts vs Neyor was a much better battle and I like what I saw from both of these guys. Helm is hands down the best blocker and will see a lot of the field this season because of it. God help us if we ever have to field Washington, Dixon, and Harrison together in a real game. In person Ewers was underwhelming, but the few times he was given a not complete ass OL and WR targets he made good reads and good throws. Card exhibited the sharpest arm and footwork, but since he can't hit the deep ball he's practically useless long term in a sark offense Throw most everything else out regarding the offense, there really needs to be a lot more 1s v 1s in practice sessions This hardly needs repeating but fuck Herb Hand
  16. What I want to know is why the fuck is 1s vs 2s even a thing?
  17. Fine I should have specified on the defense, I don't think an RB no matter how impressive will have much to say to a DL or DE about how to go about their jobs. Or do you think he should be yelling at his OL? An RB ain't shit by himself and Bijan is smart enough to know that. Every guy on the DL and OL is playing like a jag because they're not holding each other accountable to the standard of a championship unit. Bo Davis and Kyle Flood likely do not disagree
  18. Are you suggesting there is a sure fire day one pick Junior on the team? Or that only sure fire day one picks have the right to call out teammate work ethic?
  19. The NLAW is making the biggest splash here so far, Saab stock is going to soar. Offensive tech is far outpacing defensive tech and the Russian army is wholly unprepared for modern guerilla warfare. I'm guessing this conflict will spell the end of heavy armor, defensive systems are extremely costly in the face of the options available to defeat them
