  1. Do you not think messaging matters at all or what? I'm not saying effective messaging is going to drastically shift anything. It's about the fight for the undecided people in the middle. A lot of those people have responded favorably to the Rs bullshit about culture wars and socialism, etc. They need to be made to see that the Rs are authoritarian obstructors who have no governing ideas at all. The Rs are sitting ducks for all kinds of attacks. The Lincoln Project has the right idea, but it needs to start coming from the Dem candidates.
  2. Lately I'm mostly pissed at how inept the Ds are at the combat that is modern politics and their general failure to effectively counter the Magat insanity.
  3. And there's no more food, much less medicine. I can't even imagine how uncomfortable, terrifying and miserable that must be. Just awful. And if there are only 1k civilians, then the number of dead is staggering - my understanding was there was like 100-200k remaining there and not many have been able to escape.
  4. And I thought I was having a bad day.
  5. It's scary to imagine the tantrums these babies would throw, and the problems they'd cause, if there was another world war situation where we had to make real personal sacrifices, such as the rationing of goods and fuel. The most annoying thing is these are the same assholes who are the loudest about the pussification of the country, snowflakes and safe spaces, every kid getting a trophy, etc., when they're the softest group around.
  6. That dotard/Zelenskyy clip is crying out for the theme from Curb. Nance is a fucking badass. Hope he stays safe because the good guys need him here too.
  7. Damn how fucking unlucky were those 2. RIP.
  8. Looks like there was a huge strike on the Mariupol alamo/steel plant.
  9. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of Anonymous, at least it's an ethos.
  10. Seems to me that atx desperately needs new residential development. There's plenty of open space to the east. Those farmers out there are gonna be rich.
  11. I wonder what percentage of people polled understand the political realities of Congress, including how the GOP exists only to thwart the Dems now and can no longer be bargained with or expected to behave rationally. I have to think it's very low, especially among the younger cohorts.
  12. Wow you really got Old Joe trying to pull one over on people right here!
  13. I'm sure Congress will get around to that soon, right after they fix immigration.
  14. Your confusion is understandable, because it's testicle tanner being used on some kind of random rock formation in a real Tucker show.
  15. That's the only recurring nightmare I have. Weird how common it is.
  16. WTF is that thing supposed to be, seriously? A junk tanning light?
  17. Given that Cheeto didn't read his intelligence briefings when he was the fucking potus, I'm very dubious about him reading it now - or anything else that's not about him, for that matter. I'd wager a good amount of money he's changed his tune only because of polling of his deplorables.
  18. I'm not sure how much marginal demoralizing utility you get with that though. Your military getting its ass handed to them seems like it's carrying a lot of the demoralization weight on its own. Also, continuing with the metaphor, in this case the powerhouse has promised before the game that they aren't prepared to do anything but run it up the gut, and for whatever reason you believe that's true. IMO it'd be much more psychologically devastating if you couldn't stop the basic stuff while knowing they've only shown you a fraction of their gameplan. In the former case you have hope that you can turn the tide, but in the other, even if you figure out a solution to the bread and butter up the gut you're gonna promptly get put out of your misery with a haymaker you have no chance of countering.
  19. Something I'm not clear on is twhy we've invested so much infrastructure in China and across Asia instead of the Americas. Was it about the Chinese having more of the necessary infrastructure in place than the Americas or being willing to cover more of the cost? Or did we just not trust the Americas to get their shit together enough to be reliable partners? In reading your post I just realized how little I know about our hemispherical neighbors' internal situations.
  20. The fact that we're walking on eggshells like this (to the extent you can while funding and arming people killing a bunch of Russians) is starting to be rather concerning to me. Maybe Biden has Putin in his head, but it seems more likely that (i) we've got solid intelligence that Putin really is out of his mind, gives no fucks anymore and is looking for an excuse to hit the red button or at least start WWIII, and/or (ii) this is more about the loaded gun Russia has pointed at our collective heads in cyberspace, which we can't do anything to defend against or assure an equivalent reprisal. Needless to say, it'd be fascinating to see what messages are being exchanged on the "red phone" (which in reality is basically a secure email system rather than a phone hotline).
  21. Yeah, if the combination of all their Covid bullshit and them aiding and abetting an invasive and genocidal Russia aren't going to do the trick, nothing will.
  22. We're so enmeshed with China economically that I don't think this is feasible. And I think it's fair to say our economy is more dependent on them than vice versa. It'd be nice to tell India to suck our dick, but we don't want to force them to fully bloc up with Russia and China. That'd be bad. Plus corporate america would apparently die without all those cheap customer service call centers where we can't understand half or more of what's said.
  23. Eastern Ukraine is going to get pulverized, no doubt about it. The best hope seems to be basically dragging out the rate of destruction long enough and inflict enough losses on the Russians that Putin starts to feel real domestic pressure from their soldier's deaths and the financial costs. I hope that's true about what we're sending, but unfortunately we bizarrely seem to think we have to announce a detailed manifest of everything that we send. If I were president I'd be coy AF about what I was sending while telling the press stuff like "Putin's going to shit all over himself when he sees what we've given them." It'd be nice to play on their innate paranoia some more.
  24. They're going to be isolated, but just from the West and nothing like NK. There are plenty of clown countries like India and China who won't let a little invasion and genocide get in the way of a good deal. NK on the other hand doesn't have much anyone wants, and doesn't much care about trading internationally for anything other than Kim's Courvoisier or pirated US DVDs for him to beat off to. They get off to being "self-reliant," even if that includes people starving to death en masse.
