  1. i think there's plenty of chatter on narcos and netflix thread. came out a few weeks ago.
  2. the story from the houston officials (cops and politicians) at the press conference make it sound like she brought the 7 year old in with her, and the kid was killed in the crossfire, so yes, likely by the cops. no idea if it was her daughter or what, as i haven't researched anything other than the 10 min i just watched on cnn on non-mute.
  3. i have no idea if this is a real question, but cnn just had a solid hour+ dedicated to this story and i have no idea what type of coverage it got yesterday, what with the superbowl and such. if it is a serious question - everybody is covering it. as for searching for things on twitter, elon's algorithm likely isn't helping, but search results tend to prioritize posts/comments with a lot of arguing and engagement, and let's face it, the right tends to flood the zone when it comes to shit like this.
  4. sounds like she had a history of mental illness and they also found a bunch of antisemitic writings from her (no idea if it was social media or what), but apparently her ex-husband was jewish. fact remains that she walked past security into a church with a bag of guns and until she starting shooting people, she had not broken a law. also, as far as right-wingers rushing to the internet to find out the background info of the shooter (she's a transgender!), i hope that we see more equal representation of these shooters, though i am sure we won't. if we find out that shooters come from all backgrounds, race, religions, political ideologies, then maybe people will figure out that it's the fucking guns (and obvious lack of proactive measures to treat mental illness). i know we'll never get there, but dare to dream.
  5. david s ward. he also wrote my favorite movie, the sting. about 15 years ago, i met a girl in a bar and we were drinking and talking and at some point, we started talking about movies, and i said my favorite movie was the sting. turns out she was a senior at chapman (in oc) and david s ward was one of her professors and she did not like him. 8 years later we got married.
  6. bump for mr and mrs smith. 4 eps in and enjoying it. for those unaware, they dropped the whole first season at once. not really a spoiler, but in the movie they were hitmen/contract killers/assassins, yes? and the movie was more of a shoot 'em up, almost comic-book-style action movie. in the trailer i just posted, this looks similar. but halfway through, and it isn't. in fact one of the reasons i like it is because they're more like spies than assassins, at least from where i am. also they've done a great job with guest stars.
  7. i am here to serve. it's actually a pretty brilliant presentation, considering the platform. twitter is where people go to spew their bullshit. this thread lays it out in a way where it seems hyperbolic, like a typical lib trump complaint list. but going through and pulling receipts from recent speeches is what makes it art. it was worth the effort. if the next 25 years are back to "normal" (non-maga), this will be a fascinating period of american politics that will be studied for centuries. if this is the new normal, then fucking strap in and hold onto your butts.
  8. now of course i realize that the initial tweet is truncated. here it is: you're welcome.
  9. manually copied and pasted for all the crybabies without twitter access.
  10. no, the middle part. his haircut choices. tough to tell, it’s never quite in focus.
  11. the rest ^. didn’t realize some couldn’t access. why not keep an account for viewing threads and articles/videos? still the best spot for aggregate news.
  12. said thread: click for the rest.
  13. or, hear me out, he could do this:
  14. was just coming to post that.
  15. agreed and i'm happy about that. i hated all the colorado stuff from the jump, and not because of trump's qualifications/eligibility/mental acuity/insurrectionist tendencies. it's just sad that the precedents have to be judged based on the worst possible interpretations by the worst of the bad actors. and just so coincidental that these bad actors always happen to be on the right. it's like we're back in the 1950's and new products are coming out. there's always someone at the factory saying, "do we really have to put 'do not eat' on the side of the can of paint?" we will always be judged by the least among us. unless we're talking about access to guns.
  16. it's important, once again, to look at the polls for what they are. when you see trump winning a poll 43-41 and then losing another poll 49-43, just look at his number. it's always around 42-43. that's not a coincidence.
  17. every last one of these arguments comes down to one question - "how can republicans take this and abuse the shit out of it?" this is the world we now live in.
  18. good live tweet thread…
  19. 2015 was a great movie year lost in a sea of not-so-great movie years. also, the more i see american hustle, the more i think it might be the best american movie of the 2010's. i said what i said.
  20. who is he talking to with these? does he think presidential immunity is on the ballot as a prop or something? does he think if i'm nervous about biden and obama then i'm going to vote for him? don't get me wrong, i think it would be great if he tries to run on the issue of presidential immunity, because that would be hilarious. not like we're going to see a debate any time soon. guess he'll go on the morning shows every week and screech about presidential immunity when asked about the border. this is what happens when you're a defendant and a candidate at the same time. he's the worst case scenario of thomas jefferson's dream.
