  1. Reminder: Trump was banned from all major online social media platforms because he was using it to mobilize a violent insurrection. This should be written on his tombstone.
  2. Yes, they did. He removed the spikes IIRC. Then he brandished a knife and was subsequently shot in the back seven times paralyzing him for life.
  3. Odds are astronomically high no one gets killed in any of those situations if a firearm isn’t present. But you know, we love violence and guns because both are fun and cool. Thoughts and prayers tho.
  4. All I know is a Jewish boy and a Black preacher won statewide elections in Georgia a year ago, neither were/are “moderates.” Something has changed since then.
  5. The Dems running shitty empty suit candidates that abandon populist economic policies and try to play in culture war games instead of advocating for meaningful reforms is a big part of the problem. ETA: and if you want to get right down to it, a big problem is the tone (or lack of tone) being set from the top.
  6. That and crying about “defund the police”. He’s your stereotypical cis white male multimillionaire boomer that lives in Hollywood and watches too much Fox News. I think he’s playing to a target audience half the time.
  7. Dude has been an out of touch bitch for a while now. He believes it’s his job to tone police democrats while encouraging them to go on Fox News (lol). IMO he’s gotten incredibly lazy in his analysis.
  8. Yes, that is a photo of Trump and Kim Jong on the wall in the background.
  9. Wrong. Charlottesville was a political event and the violence was politically motivated. This is neither as far as we know.
  10. Among the things that frustrate me is fascism doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Certain conditions have to exist: 1. legitimate grievances going unaddressed. 2. obscene wealth/power concentrations. 3. Erosion of the rule of law (unchecked corruption). 4. democratic institutions failing to address 1, 2, and 3. It’s like we know exactly what is wrong but the system refuses to correct course. Sad!
  11. It’s a big reason I don’t even read or post in DT anymore. Let them have their safe space. It’s not worth my time to call out the hypocrisy.
  12. America has been a flawed democracy by design since inception. More democracy vs less democracy has always been a fault line among the factions. The difference today is one side is overtly willing to eliminate democracy to achieve their political goals.
  13. Without significant reforms at multiple levels we’re headed towards another Trumpy administration regardless if Biden wins in 2024. The GOP has been given a pass on sedition, open racism, and political violence. They will continue to double and triple down until someone stops them (no one is going to stop them). Trump could drop dead tomorrow and the Republicans would not change course. The best thing democrats could do is accelerate an agenda that puts us more in line with the rest of the civilized world and popularized those moves enough to force the republicans to adopt those positions as well. Basically the reverse of the Ronald Reagan Era. I don’t see it happening but the only way out of the death spiral is a paradigm shift.
  14. While I dislike Biden, the incumbency advantage he has is too great to squander, strategically speaking. It’s why I always said he would run for re-election if he won in 2020. And the Dems do have a deep bench IMO. Biden came in fourth in Iowa and fifth in New Hampshire in the 2020 primaries. Lots of dem voters believe there are better options than Biden for President.
  15. Vilifying the victims in an effort to absolve wrongdoing is THE go to move of the right. See also George Floyd (druggie), the Parkland Kids (crisis actors), Gold Star Father Khan, the Sandy Hook parents. It’s a great trick by sick motherfuckers. ETA: See also every woman with a credible sexual assault allegation.
