  1. As I paid off my mortgage in anticipation of this economic shitshow of uncertainty, there’s a chance it might happen.
  2. Lock her criminally stupid ass in the jailhouse. She intentionally committed voter fraud. i know nothing will be done. Laws and austerity for thee, not for me.
  3. She was a researcher/student. UT grad, with honors.
  4. Re. My daughter’s experiences. I have learned the SS number mention referenced a file specific to an individual researcher, which is known as an ORCID file. This file contains all of an individual’s published research, all who conduct research have such a file, and the SS number differentiates between two researchers who share the same name. And, yes, the fact that my daughter was employed in a program Republicans have labeled DEI has been added to my daughter’s research file. UT legal came to the conclusion that employing my daughter in another job leaves them vulnerable to the charge that “DEI hires” were just shuffled around. M daughter makes clear that she was told this notation in her file will sabotage any interview at a research university. Too bad. So sad. Here is the offending language of the Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) program she was enrolled in: ”The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UT Health San Antonio provides an individualized, diverse and multidisciplinary learning environment for students to develop the knowledge, skills and creativity necessary to succeed in the evolving biomedical disciplines.” Here is a link to UT Health’s PREP program: https://uthscsa.edu/biomedical-sciences/programs/prep
  5. She has rejected my advice that she continue her education in Canada, France, or Germany. At the time she said that felt like surrender. Now, she says what’s the point? She’s sick of doors being slammed in her face. Also, talking with my wife more about a flagged SS number, I’ve learned that there are flags, examples being for veterans, and for the disabled. My wife did her share of hiring for the city, so I took her word for it.
  6. Yes. That’s my understanding. Hopefully, the lawyer can explain things more clearly.
  7. There’s a lawyer working to answer that question as I type. Edited to say that, in her interview, she was told exactly (according to her memory) what I posted.
  8. The most recent punch Republicans delivered to my daughter’s future was yesterday. Interviewing for another position at UT Health, she learned her SS number has been flagged DEI, and that no university can hire her.
  9. Democrats need to go to the mattresses to prevent giving those fucks anything but misery.
  10. If your father was sanguine about Iran and Reagan conspiring to use the hostages for Reagan’s political advantage, and Reagan selling cocaine to fund off the books attacks on South American nations, then I personally see no difference between now and then. So, are you saying Mexicans are generally more willing to strip financial autonomy from their folks? Or, perhaps, culturally expect to move in with their children at a given age, or set of circumstances? Of course. Right. Huh. Cashing out and buying up was my parent’s strategy. After my father died, my mom downsized, and then downsized yet again. She later chose to live in an assisted living facility. Several times we asked if she wanted to move in with us, and live with her grandkids. She declined. MIL, otoh, moved in with us after giving senior age apartment living a try, once she was widowed. Just one family’s datapoint.
  11. Farmers qualify as a protected demographic. A third rail of protection, politically. Maybe the last protected thing in the USA, now that SS and money are being torched.
  12. The research group said the bullet votes, which are votes for the presidential race only, and no other race, were close to, or above, 10%, in each of the swing states. And that, in every other state, the percentage of bullet votes conformed to the historical average, which is less than 2%. I haven’t seen the numbers, and that makes me more skeptical than the percentage swing you mention, which is persuasive. Nevertheless, the charge is coherent and ought be easily verifiable, and as easily disproven. As is the claim on the breakdown of PA’s voting by mail totals. Show the nation the receipts, because, despite my skepticism, the quotes disturb me. The other claim, about the odds of winning each swing state, and by the specific margins, is something I don’t have the skill set to evaluate.
  13. If the research, claimed by this group, is accurate, the trans kid is mere window dressing. I believe this is the group that raised questions about bullet vote percentages in the swing states in late November 2024. (The questions being, one, why were bullet vote percentages in swing states off the charts, while bullet vote percentages in all other states conformed to historical averages, and two, what were the odds that every swing state could be won by a margin of victory that exceeded the automatic recount threshold). The quotes accompanying the research claim are accurate.
  14. Anyone have a subscription to the Toronto Star?
  15. The drone wars are coming soon to the Texas border. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/trump-administration-weighs-drone-strikes-mexican-cartels-nbc-news-reports-2025-04-08/
  16. Today, Liz Oyer testified before the US Senate.. She did so despite a letter from the DOJ, which warned her not to testify. Two armed US marshals were to be dispatched to her home to hand deliver the letter, but she learned about the letter in time to let the DOJ know she had gotten the message. Still, she testified.
  17. The entire trilogy is a fun read.
  18. I reread the Milagro Beanfield War last weekend. Pissed off geriatrics with shotguns have a place in turnip’s America. Also, crosses, sprouting like mushrooms across the land, with a message to pray for the departed, lost, souls of the magats.
  19. Without objection, I submit the total capitulation of the Republican Party, as well as the enabling SCOTUS justices nominated by Republicans presidents. I will concede there are half a dozen Republicans Senators who have pushed back on self immolation of the economy.
  20. My daughter’s research was actually being funded by UT, a decision made after the NIH funding was withdrawn.
  21. Bacteria and viruses with unusual properties.
