  1. I, too, was brought up knowing killing people is wrong. Except in war. Or in self defense. Or, to protect others. As I got older, I learned the law allows for killing someone who is stealing your patio furniture at night. Made what used to be cut and dried more nebulous. Again, what motivates my comments is a concern for our society. I know nothing about these teens other than they are, and will always be, murderers.
  2. Repped to offset the neg. People mature at differing speeds, so I see the value in both differentiating adults from juveniles, as well as evaluating juveniles as individuals. I have no sympathy for these teenage murderers, other than holding out hope our society will effort to rehabilitate fucked up juveniles. Wishful thinking. They thought they had a reason, which was to save their own skin. If you think that reason isn’t one our country sometimes accepts as justification, you haven’t been paying attention. Parse this statement all you want, but frame your rebuttal within the mindset of someone who is not yet an adult, as our laws insist we do. Living in a country which twice elected a president who has bragged about his ability to kill someone for no reason, without consequence, has diminished my ability to share the moral outrage I read in this thread.
  3. A criminal psychopath praising Satan on their way to hell. Can’t say I’ve never seen or heard of that.
  4. As a public forum, in a time when even verbal opposition to the regime has been threatened with future legal consequences, this might not be the place to organize. However, I have posted notice of previously organized demonstrations. Folks here can connect with other patriots, and take it from there. As well as voice their opposition to the regime. IMO, you deserve to feel pride, and not frustration. Got to hand it to Aryanastan. His insults are so far off the mark their result is affirmation of one’s point of view.
  5. I call bullshit. Who the fuck puts a timestamp on their drawings? Maybe the drawings were dated. Don’t tell me computer printouts are drawings. Otherwise, I sympathize with the school and the authorities in their handling of this tale of psycho.

  7. Offered with apologies to those for whom this discussion, when posted on CR’s LBGTQ’s thread, was a beating. Will now post news about the politicization of science on this thread. The peer reviews of the politically biased Cass Review are being released, and the experts are pissing on its methodological flaws and unsupported claims. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12874-025-02581-7?utm_source=rct_congratemailt&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=oa_20250510&utm_content=10.1186%2Fs12874-025-02581-7
  8. The market’s reaction to turnip’s spasmodic tariff decisions has belied the claim the president has little effect on the stock market.
  9. It is the moments of cessation, between the bomb blasts, that makes a war so bigly.
  10. This video was worth the time it took to watch.
  11. Your Indian neighbors are likely driven crazy at the thought of somebody wearing shoes inside their home. I wasn’t aware of that dynamic until I saw the comedy, Mo.
  12. Your restraint is something.
  13. My app says 105F on Wednesday, in Austin. Fuck.
  14. The actual quote, which is found in Franklin’s notebook at the National Archives and Museum of American history, employs the phrase “… who the enemy is.” https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Talk:Misquotations#:~:text=2017 (UTC)Reply-,‎War is when the government tells you who the,you decide that for yourself.&text=The actual quote in Franklin's,who the enemy is." We can agree that a perceived enemy is also called the bad guy, que no?
  15. A Ben Sergeant cartoon and a Molly Ivin’s editorial on the same page of the local daily. Those were the days.

  17. While I get exercised about folks denigrating the expertise of those who have earned the right to be called experts, especially when the denigrator can’t explain what they are talking about, I absolutely understand the imperative of minding one’s own business. And, despite my brother’s family having a direct connection to this particular issue, it is none of my business, other than deciding whether to be supportive, to be a shit heel, or to totally disengage. Which is being a shit heel, too. Keep politics out of medical research. And eliminate the parasitic middlemen with the hypocritical misnomer: health insurers.
  18. Four hornet jets lost in a little over a month. That Biden hangover has legs. Give it to republicans, they have yet to meet the length they can’t throat.
