  1. Yeah man I'm worried about their DL going through our OL like a paper knife through butter.
  2. Interesting article that I missed this summer, thanks for sharing bill. I must say there are no clear lines of leadership here. Who is in charge? The University president, Harroz? The "football chair" Stephenson who is hiring the next AD (but maybe wants the job)? Nagy, the GM? Skeletor, the coach? The next AD? That is a recipe for dysfunctional leadership. And when you layer on the blame game at the end of what is likely to be an 8-4 or 7-5 type season with a blow-out loss to Texas, it is going to be a bloodbath. Can't wait!
  3. Some of you people are such a fucking beating. For those who may not remember, the 2010 Texas football team went 5-7, with five of those losses at home. They were: UCLA 12-34 Iowa State 21-28 Baylor 22-30 Oklahoma State 16-33 Texas 8&4 17-24 Do you think this team, already with four wins, is going to lose five of its next six games? Do you see Past-his-prime Brown on the sidelines? Do you think Manning is Garrett Gilbert? If so, fuck off and don't come back. Seriously, go away.
  4. And this kid is still balling out for Texas. By far the team's best RB and was our most important offensive weapon today. Also supremely underappreciated by our fanbase.
  5. Hey fuckstick, he's a true freshman OT who is stepping into a difficult position because his football team desperately needs him. And step up he did.
  6. Imma's right. The majority of posters on this thread have a serious case of bitchass. Texas has played some lousy football so far this year. At times they've also looked pretty good. The reality is that, in almost all facets of life but certainly in football with unpredictable young men, things are never as good nor as bad as they appear. The OU game is a gift for the Texas football team (and its bitchass fanbase) after the dreadful showing in Florida last weekend. It's an opportunity to get right, to find their mojo on the biggest of stages, and to reset the table for the rest of the season. In an era of a 12-team playoff everything is still there to play for. We waited all offseason for a new football season. Now it's here, and it's the divine hour of our greatest rivalry. If you can't get pumped about that, fuck right off.
  7. If Chapel Bill is run out of town I will be disappointed (but not surprised). His ridiculous hiring and coronation; North Carolina desperately throwing everything behind him in terms of resources; the whole Jordan "I'm not a whore, we're really in love" fiasco; her trademarking of every dumb saying imaginable; hiring all of his dipshit sons as coaches; and his severe failings as a college football HC have been one of the great stories of the last 10 months. If he leaves, heaven help us, we will have to focus on Texas football again.
  8. Fun story from a local radio station in North Carolina, including interviews with the parents of current players. In summary, shit is getting real bad, real fast in the Research Triangle. WRAL Article:
  9. I'm rolling with Bobby Burton, who predicted losses to Ohio State and Florida before the season started. After that, he had Texas winning out.
  10. It's been a shitty day, but I'm happy for @Sbbruin!
  11. Our boy Bill is losing to Clemson, yes CLEMSON, 28-3 at the end of the first quarter. At home. Does he make it to the end of the season?
  12. Jesus fuck I've never seen such bedwetting about the potential for some rain showers during a football game. Almost certainly it's going to be just fine.
  13. Quick update on the weather. The trend over the last 24 hours has been toward less storm coverage during Saturday afternoon. Thunderstorms (with game delaying lighting) are still entirely possible, but at this point I would only place the chance of rain during the game at about one-in-three. In any case it does not appear to be wall-to-wall storms so the game is gonna get played. Winds may be more impactful. I think we're looking at sustained winds of 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts, perhaps occasionally reaching 25 or 30 mph. That is definitely noticeable, but the Swamp is built below ground level, and the stands are built up all around the field. I'm not an engineer, but this suggests to me the winds may be less of an issue on the field than outside the stadium. In summary, we walk out of the field like this:
  14. Damn, the UCLA athletic director has a $7.1 million buyout? Y'all are screwed.
  15. Yeah, me. I’m a meteorologist.
  16. Just did a bit of a deep dive into the forecast for Saturday afternoon in Gainesville. Thunderstorms are definitely a concern, but they should be somewhat scattered and moving through. So while there's a chance for a lightning delay, I doubt it would last hours. And although it may rain some during the game, it is very unlikely to be raining for a majority of the game. Things may start to clear out some toward evening. Regarding winds, the overall setup between two pressure systems favors strong winds. But some of the latest high resolution models are indicating more modest winds of 10-15 mph. So who knows. In summary, fuck ou.
  17. What a fucking child. You can tell he was raised very, very wrong when he handles adversity like this. Sorry, not sorry kid, but we all have a serious case of schadenfreude.
  18. For those unfamiliar with this sordid little episode here goes ... After the Space Shuttle was retired in 2011 Texas A&M bid for, and received the right to restore the shuttle simulator (a full cockpit and motion simulator) that had been used to train crews for more than three decades. A&M acquired the simulator and housed it in a decently sized building near campus. Then the university lost the lease to that building and the simulator was packed away into a much smaller space, where it gathered dust. There it remained for a decade. One of the final things George Abbey (a legendary operator at Johnson Space Center in Houston) did before he died was claw back the simulator and work with volunteers to refurbish the historical artifact and put it on public display at the Lone Star Flight Museum, in southeast Houston. He marshalled the funding and an army of volunteers to do what aggies do not: lie, cheat, steal, or preserve history.
  19. The only thing similar to Mack and Sark is that Duane Akina is coaching in the secondary.
  20. Mateer is a redshirt junior. He obviously has played well in college, but does not have prototypical NFL QB size and now has been injured. I wonder if he comes back for his senior season.
  21. Hawkins is the backup.
  22. What a dumb fucking turn this thread has taken at a time when it should be glorious. Let's get back on the track of enjoying Dabo's misery. Here the man himself after the Syracuse loss:
