  1. Quinn seems to be a great young man and he loved playing for the University of Texas. He deserves respect and I think his overall legacy at Texas is secured and people will generally be positive about it over time. The victory at Alabama was a sea change moment for this program and he led the way that night. And 4th and 13 will live on. The expectations were always high and a lot of his defenders felt that was unfair. But we are Texas. And QB expectations are always high. But the larger issue is he and his camp set those expectations themselves from the beginning. Reclassifying and skipping your senior season of high school, particularly as a QB and #1 recruit in the country, was a huge deal and truly elevated everyone's expectations. That's gonna create or add to the "prodigy" or "generational" label. I have zero inside info and will admit it's a bit unfair to speculate, but I would guess that QE personally didn't really want to skip his senior year. I watched a good interview with him recently, and he basically said the best time of his life was playing High School football at SLC with his friends. He loved every minute of it. His family/team seem to be pretty influential, and I'd guess they pushed it. Then he becomes maybe the first big name to score a huge NIL deal at Ohio State. That too will add to the hype and expectations. His QB trainer is Mahomes' trainer. I bet he is was miserable sitting 3rd or 4th string in Columbus and not playing his real Senior year with his HS buddies. But he got paid at least. He transfers to Texas shortly after and is named the starter right away. The rest is now history. But let's be real and accept that a lot of the "unfair expectations" were self-inflicted.
  2. I hope you're right that Quinn plays well in the NFL. But also here's what's going to happen. Arch is gonna open up this offense and we will be better and more explosive next year.
  3. I made this 2024 Arch highlight real a few weeks ago. arch season highlights.mp4
  4. After the fumble return at 28-14, Quinn on 2nd down rolled out right after feeling pressure and threw an incompletion. I think that was the first time he moved out of the pocket? Or did I miss things earlier?
  5. There's basically only one play you can't call in that situation and it's a RB wide toss. It's a play that if not executed properly gets serious negative yards, which is what happened.
  6. I've been plenty critical of Quinn on this thread. Sark fucked this game up at the end and deserves most of the criticism.
  7. This game is on Sark much more than Quinn. Ewers made some really nice plays, missed some crucial throws, particularly that 3rd down and 5ish to Golden to start the 4th quarter. That really hurt and was the moment to take momentum and control of the game. Ugh. Sark botched the goal line sequence. Hopefully that Quinn sack fumble on 4th down doesn't linger with fans. The 2nd down call from Sark is what killed us. Did Arch get hurt? Feels like he should have been in on 1st and goal at the 1 to ride momentum and score. Oh well. Fuck.
  8. It was more than derpy. Sark needs to consider restructuring game day responsibilities or give up play calling duties all together. He struggles with momentum and management during the games and it needs to be addressed.
  9. Some people used QB ratings to shit on Quinn, fair enough. I didn't take it as people preferring these other QBs to be our starter, just as their argument for Quinn's struggles. Which to Huckleberry's point that I misconstrued, was still a dumb take.
  10. Reggie was a freak. The most annoying part of that Heisman race was all the people counting his kick return yards in his final stats down the stretch. "Reggie Bush had 385 total yards tonight!" and 200 of it would be special teams or some shit.
  11. I missed those posts, fair enough. One thing I'll say is this has to be worst year of college QB play I can remember. Maybe some end up being great NFL QBs down the line. But absolute dogshit this season.
  12. But nobody said they wanted Drew Allar or Riley Leonard. The criticisms of Quinn weren't couched in wanting some other team's QB. We just happen to have a starter and backup that were both considered #1 prospects out of HS. It's a good problem to have I guess. But let's be clear that specifically having Arch Manning on this team is why Quinn gets more heat from Texas fans. Is that fair? Maybe not. Is it understandable? Yes, IMO. FTR, I think Quinn will play his best tomorrow and lead us to victory. But the chest puffing because some dipshit QBs for PSU and ND sucked is dumb.
  13. This past summer I took my 7 year old on his first trip to Los Angeles. Stayed at my aunt's house in Brentwood Hills. Every morning we'd take Sunset to PP and eat at the Palisades Garden Cafe for pancakes. A windy, scenic drive. Then we'd take the PCH and hang out in Malibu for the day. Being from Houston the topography and natural beauty was magical to him. I promised we'd do that trip this summer as well. And now it looks to be all gone. Hopefully my aunt's house survives.
  14. View from my aunt and uncle’s house on Westridge Rd. near Mandeville Canyon. This is from yesterday afternoon I believe. They are optimistic but not in the clear.
  15. I had no idea about this deal, but ran across this interview on Youtube. Hard for me to watch people being cruel. I fucking hate bullies.
  16. I caught Rikki Rocket's drumstick at a Poison show in The Woodlands in high school. LMAO. Decided to give it to a friend who was a massive fan, worth it just to see him display it like the Holy Grail.
  17. Fuck Zuck. Cuck.
  18. This is about offense in general, but breaks down some good and bad Quinn plays.
  19. Is it right that the last time we weren't favored was at Alabama last year?
  20. I saw Midlake in a small Houston club around 2007. Was with a big group that was mostly interested in staying near the bar during the opener, so I decided to go up front. This tiny girl with big red nerdy glasses walks on stage and proceeds to blow my mind for 45 minutes. Never seen anything like her and I'll always remember that moment. I'm glad Annie Clark made it big, truly deserving and an amazing talent. I always come back to this great cover.
  21. The silver lining with the placekicker situation is it will force Sark and Quinn to be more aggressive. Maybe it backfires, but I believe we need gunslinger Quinn to win this game.
  22. I guess never say never, but I'd be floored if Sark went to the NFL after this year. One, it would send shockwaves through the sport. Sark is probably the most well positioned HC in all of CFB right now. NIL, recruiting, portal, coaching staff, and Arch Manning for the next 2+ years...nobody has it better. He has a decided advantage over most of the competition. From the NFL side, play calling and game management are probably Sark's biggest weaknesses so far at Texas. The things he's proven to be best at for Texas don't really translate to NFL head coaching. Way more parity in pro football that should take the shine off Sark for most GMs IMO. Then from Sark's point of view, he got the job as OC for the Falcons after a short stint as an Alabama analyst. He was promptly fired 2 years later when Dan Quinn decided to clean house with coaching staff. Sark then immediately returned to Alabama as OC. The NFL can chew you up and spit you out. Why risk an amazing situation for a tenuous one? Doubtful he would get more money in the NFL. He'd most likely take over a crappy team with a not ideal QB situation. I get that there is WAY more bullshit and travel involved in CFB, but who's to say he doesn't like it? He's clearly very good at it.
  23. Add Michigan to that list. Wingo's 55 yard end around inflated the stats. The running game was effective enough, but we didn't run it particularly well.
