  1. River Oaks could survive Shejack but the middle class neighborhoods would suffer. Currently, Houston has a good mix of middle class neighborhoods. An average middle class professional moving to the Detroit, Memphis, Atlanta or St Louis metros would never consider living in city limits because of the decay and shitty schools. Thankfully, that’s not the case with Houston. Don’t want to see a hollowed out city with one rich island surrounded by a sea of shit. People would start giving up on Houston as a city with Shejack leading it and we’d be on the path that destroyed the cities listed above.
  2. No knock on what you do for a living. I have a lot of respect and love for the restaurant industry. It’s just a little weird that you’re plying your schtick here on a UT message board when you have no ties to our alma mater or association with any of our rivals or any college whatsoever.
  3. All of the growth in the Atlanta metro is outside the city limits. Atlanta was so poorly run and crime ridden that Buckhead, its richest and best neighborhood, had a secession movement that was only stopped because of the state legislature. I rather Houston not follow Atlanta’s lead.
  4. Agreed. The guy is a middle aged waiter in NYC with no ties to UT and pollutes the basketball and baseball with this shit.
  5. Atlanta was able to renovate their arena recently that was built in the 90s for less than half of what the bloodsucking ownership OKC are asking the public to pay. OKC owners are only putting $50 million of their own money while leaching the taxpayers for $900 million. Toyota Center was built in 2003 and, thankfully, not a word from the Rockets about needing a new arena. The Rockets and the city have upgraded and renovated the arena over the years to keep it up to date. They added new LED ribbon boards this season and for next season they’ll have a new center hanging scoreboard and video screens. Having a reserve for renovations to keep your stadium up to date is the only responsible way to manage these type of assets so you don’t have an OKC waste of taxpayer funds.
  6. Dogshit display of basketball by both teams tonight. The NBA needs to move the 3 point line back to what it was in the 90s. Both teams continue to jack up 3s when they’re shooting less than 10%, which is a joke. If you move the 3 point line back, fewer players would have the green light they have now and would encourage better playmaking.
  7. This is an embarrassing display of basketball by both teams. Stop shooting 3s.
  8. What the hell is wrong with their current arena? It was built in 2002. If you don’t get 30 years out of a stadium you’re doing something wrong. Can’t they just renovate it?
  9. They got arrancini! Now that’s a tailgate. Tony Soprano would love DeVito. Too bad he is a Giant because Tony was a Jets fan.
  10. For the love of God, please win tonight. Terrible shooting in the 1st quarter against Los Spurs.
  11. Fuck you and people who think like you. I love my hometown and never want to see it become a shell of what it used to be like Atlanta, Detroit, New Orleans and St Louis.
  12. GOP voters and donors were being pragmatic. The specter of Shejack being elected scared the hell out of us. I much rather have a mayoral candidate palatable to voters who have voted Dem recently in traditional Republican districts who is a Dem than flameout with a no name GOP candidate and having the disaster of Shejack of being elected. Preventing her from ever fouling City Hall was the number 1 priority.
  13. That mutual hatred is one of the reasons why the SEC is the best conference in the country. It truly does mean more.
  14. UT is unique in having 3 legit rivals. I loved the SEC move because it rekindles the aggy and pig rivalry. As witnessed in Fayettenam 2 years ago, piggy’s hate for us is still white hot. Swapping out teams like KState and ISU for pig is sweet. Out current students and younger alumni will learn to hate piggy. Like OU, I respect piggy because of the history we share with them and their program’s success, which, albeit was a long time ago.
  15. I negged you because it was a personal attack and not relevant to the discussion of Houston/Harris County local elections. For the millionth time, I have been IP address checked by both immamac and haydenhorn. I’m not Icono but the truth doesn’t sit well with your rent free obsession in your mind that I am.
  16. Getting Harris County Judge back in GOP hands is my #1 priority as a voter for local elections. I’m pretty confident that we’ll get it back next election.
  17. Agreed. Texans need to reevaluate everything they do with regard to training camp, practices, their training staff, doctors, physical therapy, etc. They need to move training back to West Virginia or have it in California like the Cowboys. Texans came out of camp with a ridiculous amount of injuries and it has been a weight around our neck all season. This team plays its home games in a controlled environment but subjects its players to the oppressive heat and humidity for training camp and practices. There is no logical reason why we do that. Cal needs to spend money on a good practice facility with multiple indoor fields. We have a crappy bubble that’s been there since the beginning. Take a look at what the Colts and Jets have in comparison. TexansTalk.com has a poster named CloakNNNDagger who is an orthopedist and is probably the most informative poster on any message board I frequent. This guy in his posts will give a full on medical prognosis for injuries and for 20+ years now has consistently been more accurate than the Texans’ medical team. Most famously, he said that Schaub was shot after his Lisfranc injury in 2011. Instead of moving on and signing Peyton, who wanted to come to Houston, we re-signed Schaub which was a disaster that closed the window of a very talented team. CloakNNNDagger has said from day 1 that the Texans team doctor is not the best. To me that’s inexcusable when you have your choice of the best doctors in the world just a few miles away from NRG. It’s time to clean house.
  18. Isn’t this a Cowboys home game? Why the fuck showing Bryce Harper
  19. I’m disappointed but not surprised by today’s outcome. Texans’ depth issues coming to bite us in the ass. We still need a kick ass draft and FA class this offseason to become a true playoff contender.
  20. Hope Stroud is ok. Looks like it could be a concussion. Mills might be starting next week.
  21. How about making some banana pudding instead and invite Chas over.
  22. Everything that could go wrong today has gone wrong.
  23. Feel bad for Larry-N-Stafford and the rest of the Traveling Texans crew having to suffer through this shit with all the coin they had to drop.
  24. FML. Cashman first game against his old team and gets hurt in this garbage stadium.
