  1. Shit that was going down late 60s to mid-ish 70s was unreal. Bombings in public places were so common for a while they weren’t even headline news. FALN SLA BLA Weathermen. A lot of these organizations were comprised of mid to upper class young folks. “Eco Terrorism” was getting ramped up. Greenpeace an Earth First were getting into confrontation and sabotage. Environmental Life Force was using explosives and arson to get their message across. It was the golden age of airplane hijacking. So much so that it was just cost of doing business to the airlines. They even included charts of the Caribbean for pilots to make it faster/easier in case the got hijacked.

Whole scene with Paul Reiser was great.

  4. Isn’t that exactly what the Rs are doing with gun control? Any gun control legislation means they will next take all your guns.

That’s a good one. I think The Covenant may be my favorite Michener.
  6. Fine with me if they promote Jub Jam. And since 2011, P1s have helped us raise over $750,000 to help the Senior Source and their efforts to serve our community. In 2021, we raised over $135,000 and are looking forward to raising even more in 2022 on August 18th.
  7. Cool. You can go to the Festival Confederada if you get homesick.
  8. That may be my favorite small town in Colorado. Good friend from Texas moved up there about 20 years ago and started maybe the first private trail building company in America and is still going strong.
  9. No worry. Mexico, I mean The Pentagon will pay for Operation Lone Star. WASHINGTON — Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Sherman, wants the Pentagon to help pick up the tab for Gov. Greg Abbott’s immigration-and-drugs dragnet at the southern border. Fallon said Friday he was introducing a bill that would require the Defense Department to reimburse the state of Texas for more than $1.4 billion in costs stemming from what has been dubbed Operation Lone Star.

  11. Dug this Yosegaki Hinomaru out of my Mom’s closet before the moths decimated it. Luckily most of the writing is still legible. Taken from a soldier in the battle of Balete Pass in Northern Luzon. This will be on its way back to Japan via the OBON Society. https://obonsociety.org/eng/page/yosegaki-hinomaru

Have to check those out. I get into historical fiction binges but then have to take a break. Read these from Jay Penner followed by his Cleopatra trilogy. He seems to know his stuff and has a succinct writing style that always keeps the story moving along. (Penner is Dallas based)
  13. True, but I prefer On Any Sunday. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I know, right? Was going to have my pilot fly me to Miami to spend a few days on my yacht. Maybe cruise over to the Bahamas. Said fuck that. Told him to take me to my cabin in Angel Fire. Closer too. Can’t take too much more of this shit.

Found this one fascinating. Focus is mostly on the Ford family, Detroit and the Willow Run facility.
  16. Answer is: At the worst possible moment.
  17. I imagine it would get pretty warm in hours of full Sun. In my case if I had Sun I wouldn’t need turf. Mine was installed in Jan. and even with bare trees it felt warm in some areas but never hot. Dogs would lay out in it and seemed to enjoy it. I kept my sprinkler heads and I guess could run them to cool it off if needed but haven’t had to.
  18. Yes it is. Ours corrected some drainage issues. Have had numerous 2+ inch rains and it’s basically dry pretty soon afterwards. Most of the cost is in the prep work and putting down a good base, like with pavers.
  19. New one proposed in Fannin County east of Bonham is getting a bunch of NIMBY opposition.
  20. We got the “Pet Turf” from Ideal Turf. The lifespan of your synthetic turf lawn will depend on several factors, including the quality of the turf product, the quality of the installation and the amount of traffic it endures over the years. Depending on how these factors come together and the amount of proper maintenance it receives, you can generally expect manufactured grass to last somewhere between 10 and 20 years. You should see a higher-quality turf lawn last closer to 20 years
  21. Between 10 and 11k. Don’t remember exactly.
