  1. Jonah is 4 for his last 21 against SEC competition. Max is 2 for 18 in his return. Looks like Galvan is sub-.200 in May against the SEC. That’s better than Flores, but it isn’t great baseball. Any of our guys could step up and be the guy. I think a weeklong reset could be helpful for a number of guys. That’s probably not what Belyeu needs however. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us hit well next weekend.
  2. The conference folks should note I changed the channel because of it.
  3. I’m just messing with you. There’s nothing to worry about based on today. It’s a tourney format that’s nothing like any other. Matchups and tourney format dictate your pitching choices. Theres not much talk about UTenn not going all out to win yesterday since they didn’t start their #1.
  4. Not enough hit and Miss stuff.
  5. As best I can tell, Doyle and Arvidson had a decrease in their K/9 today. So guessing they just got lucky in those other 106 innings.
  6. Did UF move up in the RPI after beating South Carolina? The same USC that was 0-4 versus the ACC and outscored 31-16. Best non-con wins over Charleston and South Carolina Upstate. Lost 3 games by 17 or more. Got outscored by the Aggies 40-19. Gave up 46 to Auburn in 3 games. That South Carolina?
  7. Thought I saw UCF was 3-0 versus the ACC/SEC with about a 20 run differential. Top 8 seed worthy?
  8. Yes, it’s me being a smartass. Generally speaking, I stay away from posting here due to the pretty consistent bitching and ripping the dudes and their talent/abilities. So in particular on this night, I want to celebrate those guys that may damn well have the best two year conference record of any team in the country, certainly in the top 3 RPI conferences. 41 wins with maybe more to come. Winning 16 of 19 conference series thus far. All the while losing your #1 starter and potential # 1 starter in back to back seasons. Grubbs, Harrison, Duplantier, Howard, Hamilton, Whitehead, Tumis, Galvan, Schuessler, Flores, Borba, Farmer, Gasparino, Belyeu, Duplantier, Service, Mercer. I look forward to this seasons finish but also the development next year of those first year starters.
  9. I’m just thankful we got a big effort out of Tommy Farmer before we had to ship his non-SEC talent butt off to the Southland.
  10. I’ll add my two cents. Trust me when I say my response is more to keep treaty oak on my side rather than thatguy. Obviously the NFL is not an easier game, but success is measured a bit differently. The Dolphins fans to a point would be satisfied with year over year playoff appearances and a win here or there. However, what thatguy suggested in regards to Quinn and 5 wides is really not an option at the NFL level, at least not as a base offense. I would say the series of repetitions he’s had to date with heavy play action with two wides and a tight or two gives a better building block than what Gabriel has done to date for example. Maybe Dart, award, Shedeur too. He may not be a guy to carry his team. He may not be one to win shootouts. While the defenses may be better, the craziness and variations are less chaotic from week to week. There aIRR opportunities for success staying within the framework and getting Hill and Waddle the ball. There isn’t pressure to win every week to the same extent. Expectations have been reset. He only has to study the playbook and the defense. He is ready for challenge. Maybe. We will see.
  11. Yeah, you’ll have to forgive me for that cause it ain’t happening. Further/farther. Nope. Stuff I once knew gets hung up now much less things I never could get right.
  12. This is the good stuff. I’ll support it. From a distance, this is the type of guy that commands respect. Nose down. Stick with it. And finish the job. No extra fandom. Limited play time til this year. That’s kicking ass.
  13. From what I understood, Arch did want to sit and not be rushed on to the field so it was helpful to not have uncertainty to get him here. From all I gather, team is important so anyone above that is just biding their time. So I’d give them all credit. Meaning the team not just the QBs. Personally, I find it difficult to single any player out for recruiting. I’d assume our culture is a big part of the draw. I’d also assume there were a number of guys that were at the forefront of that culture. And it can’t just be one guy.
  14. Damn. Harsh. And just when I think I couldn’t you love you guys anymore you go and warm my heart. It’s like family. You piss me off then some stupid comment shows that redeeming quality in some of you. I am genuinely curious about peoples experiences and how it ties into their understanding of the game and try to dig it out but people like their anonymity. We need @WinningIsHard back.
  15. There’s been ample complaints about those guys. Quite often more negative than positive. But, yes, the QB amplifies that by a 1000.
  16. You’re going to have to do some reconciling for me here. First, Sark has NFL ties. He was OC for a Heisman QB with multiple highly drafted WRs/RBs. Presumably that was a draw here for Ewers. That draw for other QBs is here whether Ewers ever shows up, right? You referenced the draws for other offensive guys. We are now in year 5 of the Sark regime. 3 NFL TEs later, none of which Sark recruited. In year 5, we got a portal TE because we were not satisfied with our TE. WR. Worthy here already. Whitt here already. I guess maybe Mitchell but after 2022? I suppose Bond, Golden, Boldin. But none the less the high school pipeline has had modest returns. Year 5, and we’re still hitting the portal. I suppose the Oline guys that all committed about the same time, but there were certainly other factors at play. Conner, Majors, Jones were all here. The RB room. Pretty stacked when Sark arrived. Injuries impacted it last year. I guess #4 who has had somewhat limited impact thus far. Coburn, Ojomo, Sweat, Murphy, Collins, Broughton, DMO, Ford, Jahdae, Sorrell, Taaffe all were here. Then guys who contributed Gbenda, Blackwell, Thompson. Odd that Collin Simmons would come for one year to watch Ewers from the sideline. Perhaps he did some behind the scenes work to keep guys here. It’s all pretty convoluted with NIL and all associated with that. It is true that you change any variable about the past then the outcome changes. And we’ve had pretty good outcomes the past two years.
  17. So you’re a QB. Mind if I ask when that was?
  18. I tend to focus on the non - conference schedule so didn’t realize WVUSs conference schedule was weak. Their non-conference was pretty weak. The 10 team conference is as ideal as it gets. Really in the big 3 sports anyway.
  19. People need to really drill down on the schedules even more so with the unbalanced schedules in the bigger conferences. The Aggies should be eliminated unless winning the auto bid. Their non-conference efforts are pedestrian at best.
  20. Not one time have I said the stats tell the whole story. And many times I put them out there for informational purposes. I know we don’t talk about this shit but as a youth thru high school - participated in 4 varsity sports, two way starter, two year starter basketball, on the relays. QB. And I wasn’t some passive S sitting 15 yards off the ball on defense. Now, I am old, bitter dude that’s reflected on successes and failures. That’s watched as a parent, youth coach, observant fan. 4A to 6A. Have seen 4 and 5 star players competing not just in those sports but others and from a reasonably close view. I’ve seen my high school produce an NFL QB, a state player of the year. Girl sports, boy sports. I was not a casual participant. I’m not a casual fan. I watch your Longhorns live and in person. Then I watch the recording. I was in position athletically to see how impactful failures can be on a personal athletic achievement level because of successes. So when you think I’m a dumbass, when you think I’m full of it, know that’s the backdrop and there’s a hint of that in every post. Even those that include the stats. I know your kid plays some volleyball. I believe you played some football. Maybe you played it much longer than I did. Maybe your experiences are more unique and varied. I haven’t put a cap on your boy Quinn. I don’t give a general damn that his balls get knocked down occasionally. I don’t care that his footwork isn’t perfect. I don’t care that he can “make all the throws.” I don’t believe his deep ball is as bad as most make it out. I don’t believe his intermediate ball is as good people make it, which doesn’t mean he’s not capable. Whatever results he’s produced to date don’t matter. What matters most is that he has the opportunity. He needs consistency of effort. Repeat the good more often; the bad less often.
  21. Are you referring to the “great” throw to Worthy for a TD versus Bama in ‘23? Deep passes are incomplete A LOT. All QBs. Generally because the throw isn’t great. There are a number of deep balls caught that are not great throws. Ewers has thrown over 1,000 passes at Texas. You can find examples of just about every throw. You go with examples to show that they exist. I do not dispute that they exist. The numbers play more into the frequency with which things occur to which you can compare relative to their peers. And by the way I don’t necessarily disagree with your statement on the Patriots; however, I can be persuaded otherwise. If the numbers show they went downfield more than anyone else, then I wouldn’t argue.
  22. I merely pointed out the potential point of confusion. I mean why would I argue such a point with someone who wouldn’t support that conclusion or entertain the idea of evidence to the contrary. And it’s certainly not possible to counter some definition of downfield passing team in your mind that’s not known to others.
  23. Lay off the stats yet you and others like to throw out this: “A huge chunk of Ewers missed downfield throws were on the same route combo where the deep guy is running a big post.” With no support or context. So we’re to take this as gospel because you said so. The original quote says “average depth of target” which is different than yards per attempt. There are myriad ways you can get to yards per attempt but less so depth of target. There are reasons I quote from PFF. It’s data (less subjective) paired with grades (more subjective). It’s not available because I said it’s useful either. And like it or not in the past two years all 1st round QBs were in the top 13 each year in their grading. As I age, I see why people get more bitter.
  24. This looks similar to that dumbass defensive call on 4th and 13 except 3 x 1 to the left here. Notice the guy running down the middle wide open. Makes that call even dumber as they got no pressure here, and they showed they couldn’t cover 2 different guys. Yet you go back to it. On the most important play of the game.
  25. meaningless stats. Guess I’m not sure what stats would be meaningful. Particularly since I did not say these were the end all, be all.
