  1. The look of a man who two years in a row thought it was going to be a natty run. Now contemplating the hemorraghing vessel A&M football has become and the competence of their new coach from Duke. "You just don't know Mike Elko." That's kind of the problem, William. The Elk does not emanate the electrity one would hope for to rejuvenate the crew and right the ship. "I kinda think I know why we're slowing and taking on water." Yep, he was your first choice. No DC yet? "Mike Elko is deciding who his first four choices will be." Key data point? Who hasn't said no already. Next will come lowering expectations. "I think finishing 8-4 will show the kind of improvement we're hoping for. The Elk has this heading in the right direction." Never mind the soft schedule next year. Recruiting? "The important thing is to get the guys you want, and that's what the Elk is doing. He doesn't pay attention to star rating; he's looking for real players. Watch. The. Tape. Record? The inevitable, "we lost 3 of those games by a total of 13 points." That is the face of, "what happened?"
  2. Frankly, it's refreshing to be reminded that this isn't the fucking NFL. Some players choose places based on feeling. Some will stay for the same reason. Sark (surely others as well) is not neglecting the things that drew players in the past. I'm an idiot about NIL. I don't think the way it was launched was well-conceived if it was even considered with any depth at all. I am optimistic that the unbelievable flood of portal athletes will invite market forces to drive down the monetary incentives causing so many players to jump. They're not all going to get the big money that a QB or elite position player will get. The Aggies, who understand neither NIL nor what "hitting the portal hard" means, are about to be taught (their decision-makers, all Ags, surely will not actually learn) and serve as an example of the value of keeping both an attractive culture and a well-managed war chest. They went all in on paying players (Aggies: we lead everybody in clever use of NIL. Fisher: we didn't pay anyone NIL). Their locker room became a vat of toxic waste the likes of which have not been seen since Robocop. There is not enough money to pay huge NIL to everybody on the team. @closetojumping has documented the money difficulties that even a program with foresight brains are facing. Their brilliant Plan 2024 pivots on keeping the talent together. They're evidently not enviably rich enough to pony up on the NIL side. They clearly don't have much going on to keep players there otherwise. Why would anybody stay? I'm guessing Anderson likes his situation and world there. It won't hurt his NFL chances. He won't have to spend his last year in college in a strange place. He could change his mind, but I like that just maybe an elite player feels like he belongs to the school. Having the gravitational pull of a player thinking, "I like it here," is important for team cohesion. It's also good business because you likely won't have to pay as much to keep players on campus. This did not start off as such a long post. Certificates will be presented to anyone who completes the narrative and passes the knowledge assessment.
  3. Aggies! Whoop! Plan 2024! Plan 2024! Gotta turn the carrier! Here's your oar! AAAAyyyyyyyy. WHOOOP!
  4. They only have about five coaches on staff. It's not like it's easy to find someone who can take the news of your decommitment. The ones that are there are probably dodging these disastrous announcements of portaling and decommitting like a grifter eluding subpoenas.
  5. I thought you guys were my friends. Gasp! Beware of t.....u.....augh. ETA It's the action not the species, my friends.
  6. Does UT maintain a private jet? Seems extravagant to me. Nouveau riche.
  7. Just put that green bean in the sanitary high-quality chocolate fountain, and your world will change! You know where you'll find me!
  8. Elite schools don't worry about whether somebody else considers them elite. It's similar to concerning yourself with whether or not another team considers you to be their biggest rival. In short, it's pathetic. Seems like you answered your own question there, Sport. Oh, and it's 12-1, Sport. 1 A dream year for you losers. 2 It would be so good for you if you weren't where you are and have been since Hitler could be attributed to luck, Sport. So, we'll be exposed if we lose to Penix. If not, we'll be exposed if we lose the fucking national championship game. I'm sure the world will congratulate you, Sport, and all your little friends for recognizing the hollow shell Texas is if they don't finish number one in the country (natty to your dumb ass). You're all over this motherfucker.
  9. ABC. I didn't watch the video. I was already too triggered.
  10. There were already holes in the wall. Windows.
  11. Because they'd get shot by these same cops. That's why those dickheads applied for the job. Bullying.
  12. I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread. Somebody was blasting away in San Antonio and Austin, so I thought I'd check in. First, I don't have children nor am I particularly partial to them. Second, I'm not trained in combat or police action. Lastly, I'm also not particularly brave as far as anyone can tell. It's rarely been tested in my soft suburban white boy life. However: What do you mean you could not create a distraction? There were two doors and multiple windows, you chickenshit motherfucker. With only slight coordination, you could have "breeched" the room from multiple directions covering both rooms. "Both rooms." There was one shooter and two rooms he had to defend. If you assault in the simple way as described above, you know you will secure one of those rooms from anymore violence. Shattering glass and two doors being attacked is at least as good as your flashbangs, Officer Military Jargon Sans Military Guts. I'd hope I'd have the courage to take this relatively high percentage chance of survival action to act against a man perpetrating a massacre of children all seemingly braver and more worthwhile than I might be. It goes double for the teachers. If I didn't, I'd hope I'd have shame enough to absolutely prostrate myself before the survivors prior to doing myself in. I'm sure that I'd never sleep again without heavy narcotics. Pictures of these fucking cowards who stole money from the government hoping they'd never have to earn it should be run on TV, the Internet, and whatever other outlet there may be on the anniversary of their disgrace. I don't care if the killer is taking out kids, grandparents, rich people, or immigrants: you must act. If you don't act, don't defend your inaction. If you defend your action, I hope you live that day every time you shut your eyes to sleep. It's this over emphasis on officer safety that has been bent to serve needlessly humiliating and brutal protocols for simple arrests and opening fire on mean-looking negroes. I'd have you fuckers wearing hot pink coveralls out on the highways of the state picking up garbage with signs announcing who you are and why you're there. Sorry not sorry for the rant. I know I'm just venting a fraction of what we all feel. How dare these male things appeal for understanding and sympathy?
  13. Only the PhD candidates will bother to look up the score. They're scholars, after all.
  14. I think the key thing is that things be funny. Any remark, post, exclamation, death rattle, diversion, or blasphemhy is fine if it's at least funny. It's the tedium that I loathe rather than some priggish devotion to rules that drives me. But, if it ruins your day and makes you hate ol' RomaVicta, of course, I'll try to change my ways. I'm not going to say that I can't be annoying. Sometimes I annoy myself. That God for my good looks!
  15. You know, it's actually not a fact. I look forward to the argument on chiles and the best way to eat them. I predict the same band of the unfunny will find it hilarious or enlightening.
  16. Reveille could learn a few things about running the corps from these badasses! We're not weird!
