  1. Yeah, Intuit has been lobbying against the IRS providing a free tax return system for years but the effort made by the USDS under the Biden administration was probably a waste of money because companies need the transaction fees and your financial data.
  2. The USDS and the IRS put together a free tax filing system that had a test run last year. It worked great and allowed many lower income American tax payers to file taxes for free. DOGE has now replaced the USDS and decided people shouldn't pay taxes for free so they shuttered the program so private companies can collect a fee.
  3. Speaking of ruining concerts. My friend that stunk up Matamoros got way too drunk at an REK Jr. concert at Gruene Hall. He walked on stage yelling "Robert Earl Keen!!!" right before tripping and falling into the drum set knocking a bunch of shit over. The rest of us walking away pretending not to know him.
  4. I was going to say if you think Matamoros is sticky then Nuevo Laredo is sticky butt crack in comparison. It really is weird how that smell hits you as you cross over the Rio Grande. My first time I ever crossed over I asked how do they keep the smell on the other side. Now Matamoros on the other hand is really pleasant compared to NL. The only bad smell I remember was my buddy that caught the flu but wanted to party in South Padre/Matamoros for spring break anyway. After an evening of drinking we stopped at a taco stand and my sick drunk buddy ripped an SBD. The women at the taco stand were complaining about the red headed American farting, the people behind us were gagging. It was a horrific smell. Then he kept doing it in the line to cross back over the border.
  5. This makes no sense you crazy fucking moron.
  6. You mean wool for wool.
  7. As expected, the "DEI" contracts would be hit first.
  8. To be fair, I've been guilty of that meme in my youth. I learned my lesson after taking out some gateways and routers at the company formerly known as WorldCom in my 20's. So like a young F250, you don't let kids run fucking rampant around critical systems.
  9. This is the part that is blowing my fucking mind. He isn't part of the administration and the people involved have no clearances and are actively violating federal laws.
  10. This needs a separate thread. As we know Elon and Thiel's kids are being allowed to fuck around with the U.S. Treasury. There isn't much reporting on the subject outside of WIRED. https://www.wired.com/story/elon-musk-government-young-engineers/
  11. It doesn't say all contractors. I am guessing that there will be a lot of small government contracting companies targeted. There are a lot of small "DEI" contracts out there. I wouldn't be surprised if those are heavily targeted. It will get interesting if DOGE goes after their competitors in the DoD space.
  12. Concern for high egg prices are so last year, nobody cares anymore.
  13. I blame the Shaggy/Surly meta thread culture.
  14. This is the biggest fucking "What the fuck?" going on at the moment and it's barely getting any coverage. These kids wouldn't be allowed to be involved with infrastructure at this level at any company but they are doing this with the U.S. Treasury? Not to mention it's fucking illegal.
  15. Grok handling air traffic control.
  16. My parents divorced when I was three years old. My father is a rancher and so was my maternal grandfather. My maternal grandmother insisted that my grandfather sell his land, cattle and everything else and move to the city. Apparently, my mother attempted the same with my father who unlike my grandfather refused. Divorce followed shortly after. We moved to San Antonio shortly after the divorce. I spent summers and winter breaks at my dad's place growing up. As a kid going from an actual city to BFE south east Texas was a beating. In the Summer's, I was assigned to work with my dad's dad so we would hop into his Ford F100 from the 1950s and work. Horrible. My mom married my step-dad when I was eight years old. He was an engineer and a colonel in the USAF. After retirement from the USAF he became a professor at St. Mary's University as an engineering professor. I feel like I am a combination of my step-dad and father. I pursued STEM and other intellectual pursuits because of my step-dad. My eldest son is an officer in the USAF and I wish my step-dad was alive to have seen his commission. There are a lot of things my dad has also imprinted on me too. I'd say I am definitely the product of two dads. Looking back on how my kids were raised, academics, sports and competition were heavily emphasized. That was my step-dad. But my kids all had their own horses and were expected to work our land and service tractors, trucks, etc... that was my dad.
  17. He will likely do both. The data will be used as a weapon and he will definitely skim money. I've done work for many financial institutions but doing work for Treasury’s BFS is mind blowing. When you see the amount of money being transferred you can't help but think what a small transaction fee would net you. I would not be surprised if some Musk owned company takes over all federal disbursements for a high percentage fee. He will become a trillionaire off of the backs of the American tax payer.
  18. Elon should hang from a rope.
