  1. He was pretty poor vs ASU. He is better in pass pro and Cam is way better run blocking, but that is a expected comparing a RT to a LT
  2. Really bad play. Seen OnTexas hint he may need surgery on that knee after the season, so I am not sure how healthy he is.
  3. Downs and Ransom were very impressive. I would see a 1-2 yard and think an OL just got whipped and you would one of those getting up from the bottom of the pile. They got downhill quick and they can really tackle, especially Downs
  4. Quinn is Quinn. Time to move on. quinn has his flaws. He was a good QB, not great one. He never lived up to ridiculously high expectations, but VY and Colt are the only modern QBs to hit that level for Texas
  5. Here is to Quinn having his best game and making a legacy tonight
  6. Not sure it will matter, but I forgot Nansen was on Chip Kelly’s staff at UCLA. That cannot hurt
  7. that was a terrible call also. That could have been called OPI. I thought refs were fine. They were shitty, but shitty to both teams. Never called a hold on either team, that probably helped ND more. #11 probably has scratch marks all over him from ND OL.
  8. It was things like QBR and PFF that had Quinn as one of the worst rated QBs in the playoffs. this is true. Those QBs ran into top 4 defense (by DFEI), so I dont get the comparison. I generally hope Quinn plays well. This is going to be the first good defense Texas has faced in these playoffs. The 3 worst defense in the playoffs were Clemson, Boise State, and Arizona State (in that order).
  9. Couple things here 1. Take Orji out of the equation and Michigan ran it 39 times for 140 yards. That is 3.6 and that was boosted by a big late run. Sark will never be that patient with the run and no fvckin way will Surly be that patient. 2. Game play was a major reason for that. Ryan Day went full retard in that game. He went out to try to end the all the talk that OSU isnt as physical as Michigan. Inside Zone after Inside Zone. OSU is not going to be that stupid again.
  10. Just have to stop the counter with 6 men in the box and take away the 1st read for Howard. Not sure he has been forced to go to his second read in these playoffs. Do that and you give Simmons a chance to hit Howard. Ryan Day does not usually make a many in-game adjustments. He may be the Texas MVP of this game, if Texas takes away the counter. Quinn has to hit passes outside the hashes. OSU pass defense is built to take away the middle of the field. CBs are the weakest part of the OSU defense. OZ is likely dead in this one. The Edges are NFL guys and they usually stack a LB over them. The caveat is Banks and Williams might be able to move them 1 on 1. Sark needs to have a pivot from OZ.
  11. PSU threw too much in the second half.
  12. PSU WRs were completely out-matched by ND secondary. Allar definitely missed too many throws, but those guys were really bad and part of the reason. It was fitting the WR got manhandled by the DB on the final int.
  13. Texas is kind of good. They won 13 games this year, basically playing 2.5 quarters of football in each game. If they play 4. watch out
  14. more I hear people talk about this, I think it comes down to 1 thing. If Texas plays consistent good ball, they win this game. No 3Qs disasters, take care of the football and play clean (limit penalties). Hoping being an underdog and media telling them they cannot win this game, leads to the first game Texas plays with focus for 4Qs
  15. Getting a major win in those days was tough. It was tougher just 1 year ago. I know people will disagree with me, but I do not put ASU or Clemson in that category. They are playoff wins, but vs double digit underdogs. It know blow outs happened in BCS and prior playoffs, but it was rare to see games where someone had massive talent advantages. Its become more NCAA basketball like.
  16. Texas passing leaders: Career Yards 1 Colt: 13,253 2 Sam 11,436 3 Ewers 8,845 4 Applewhite 8,353 5. James Brown 7.638 Single Season 1. Colt: 3859 2. Sam 3,663 3. Colt 3,521 4. Ewers 3,479 5. Applewhite 3,357 Career TD passes 1. Colt 112 2. Sam 94 3. Ewers 66 4. Major 60 5. Simms 58 Single season TDs 1. Colt: 34 2. Sam: 32 3. Colt/Ewers 29 5. Colt: 27
  17. All good. I fully expect the run game to be mediocre at best. Would love to see 4 per carry, but that probably only happens if you get a 30+ yard run in there. OSU runs a lot of inverted Tampa 2. Not loving the deep ball with Quinn's propensity to throw moon balls and NFL safeties in a 2 high. Have to find ways to get players in space and they have to make someone miss.
  18. I think this is a game, where explosives will be at a premium. 8-10 plays drives vs either defense will be tough sledding. One reason I would like to see more Wingo and Blue (Blue in the passing game). I say that even with the fear of Blue fumbling.
  19. not really the point, but OK. Just saying get your best after the catch player some touches.
  20. I think Sark will come out like normal in big games. He will throw the ball. I could see a heavy dose of short passing game in the game plan. I think getting Blue involved passing game could be big for the offense. Blue is Blue, but if you get him in space he is threat to go 70 yards. Running the ball will be tough. Texas needs to optimize the the runs that are blocked well. Too many times this year RBs have been 1 on 1 with a safety and lose that battle. Have to win some of those this game. Need to get Wingo more involved. He is the best after the catch. I dont care if it is jet sweeps, reverse, screens, or simple slants. He is a play maker. Find a way to get him the ball 6-7 times.
  21. There is something to the idea that people use team accomplishments to judge QBs. I do not think it is the main component of judging QBs though. It is a tertiary element to me. You have to be very good to great at what you do first. Not every NC QB or Super Bowl winning QB is considered great. You start 15 years in the NFL you are going to be a borderline Hall of Famer just for consistency and availability. Eli has 4 Pro Bowl and 15 year of starting in the NFL. Phillip Rivers and Eli are similar. It will be interesting to see if Rivers gets in
  22. I am not putting Street in because I didn’t see him and I know 0 about how he compared to his contemporaries. 1- VY- clearly left college football as the best QB in the country 2- Colt- Heisman finalist.. Junior was freakish. 500+ yards rushing. Over 75% comp, 34 TDS, 8 ints… was he the best QB college country? I think so, but it was certainly a debate After that there is a big drop in my eyes. 3- Ehlinger - guy would do anything to win. You need a 4th down conversion. Bam Bam Sam will get it. Responsible for 41 TDs as a sophomore and 39 as a Junior. Very good college Qb, but nobody ever said he was the best QB in the nation 4. Ewers- he can pass Ehlinger. Similar to Elhinger. Very good QB, but never in the discussion as the best QB in the country. I maybe discounting him, because he has Sark and Sam had Herman.
  23. Honestly, they 4th and short jet sweep gave me mixed feelings. 1. Sweet, 1st down 2. WTF, Texas cant just run the ball up the gut on an undersized DL.
  24. Michigan played a ton of 2 high vs OSU. The key to their win was 2 fold. 1. OSU tried to reverse the narrative and out-physical Michigan 2. Michigan stopped their run game with light boxes. They have arguably the best DT duo in the country. This is where I would love to have Sweat back for 1 game.
