  1. I think it is too early for that kind of realization. I think an ugly year record would force Sark to rethink things. If they somehow win ugly this year, I am not sure Sark looks in the mirror. That is just my guess, but Sark could surprise either way.
  2. Florida and OU used mostly stunts to attack the LG/C with 2 and 3 high looks behind. Kentucky used more 2nd level/3rd level pressures to get to Arch. Teams will go back and forth between the 2 approaches. No matter the approach, defenses are going to hunt the Left A gap. Offense will need to stick to run the ball and rely on the quick game, like the OU game. The longest run vs Kentucky was an 8-yard run by Clark. He misread the play and if he hit the proper hole, he would have been 1 on 1 with the Safety for probable 40-50 yard TD. This OL and Qb cannot handle a defense that is teeing off on them, because Texas is 1 dimensional. Anyone thinking they can is delusional.
  3. There were rumors that Day got much more involved in play calling after Michigan last year. You saw Day on the sidelines with the play sheets in his hands vs Texas and throughout the playoffs. I do not think hiring an OC will go the way people think. Sark will take back control at the hint of any issues. I think the biggest issue is Sark the HC/CEO is good. He has managed recruiting, boosters, and the defense expertly. Sark the HC has had the hard conversations with PK. He brought in Gary Patterson to help. He brought in Nansen, when he wanted to get more aggressive. PK listened and evolved his defense. In a perfect world HC Sark would have those same conversations with OC Sark. That is not happening because HC Sark cannot separate and look objectively at his dual roles as HC and OC. His identity is based on being a great play designer and play caller, I do not see him giving that up outside of disastrous results. I hope I am wrong.
  4. That was a depressing listen. Summarizing Dan; "OL is the biggest issue on offense" "Can it get fixed?" Dan: "No"
  5. Damn, you are thin skinned man. This is simple. You dont need to spend hours cutting up the most analyzed player in the country. Teams are attacking the LG/Center because they are bad. The 38 pressures for the LC/Center positions in 7 games is a testament to that. If Hayden Connor and Jake Majors were on the team this year, this would not be a consistent plan of attack (success rate would be much lower). They do it for a couple reasons. #1 Interior pressure is the best pressure on ANY QB, you have to be an idiot to argue that. #2 LG and Center are bad this year, so the success rate is high. Somehow you are ignoring Occam's razor and trying to say defenses are attacking the worst player on the OL, because Manning is mobile.
  6. Guessing you are thinking of Tim beck that coached at Texas. This is a different guy
  7. Teh Tony Hills rant should be here. Starts around the 29 minute mark.
  8. The answer is simple as to why the offense is bad. It is YES. The question does not really matter, because its basically a failure across the board. Fans dont want to admit that, because that has no simple answer
  9. I dont think Sark knows what to expect out of this team week to week. I like Scip, but I do not think you can apply rational thought to this team. Texas offense is fragile. They get one or 2 plays that go their way and things can look completely different. Like I said the SurlyMeter is pointing to a good showing from Texas this week.
  10. I would take Andrew Beck, Connor Williams, and D Foreman on this offense in a heartbeat.
  11. I was going to say Georgia is near the bottom of the SEC in havoc rate. Then I saw Kentucky is still at the bottom even after the Texas game. https://collegefootballdata.com/metrics/season total havoc rate front 7 havoc rate
  12. Vegas has an eye on the Surly Meter. I mentioned the before the OU game I was going to put money on Texas, because Surly was reaching peak toxicity. Surly meter is approaching extreme levels again.
  13. This is 100% on brand and drives me crazy every time I hear it. Sark is broadcasting he struggles to make adjustments and cannot live up to his reputation as an offensive savant.
  14. According to PFF Arch’s self-pressure rate is ~11%. That puts him in the 90th percentile for qualified QBs (that’s very good). As a reference Quinn was the 11th most self-pressured among qualified QBs last year. So most of Arch’s pressures are coming from poor protection
  15. Here is the shocking thing. https://bcftoys.com/2025-fpv Texas is #1 in Net field Position this year. Up from #53 last year. Lot of that is on the punt teams, but also turnovers. Texas is currently 21 in the nation with 6 lost turnovers. They were 130th last year (26 turnovers in 16 games). Teams are not getting a lot of short fields like last year. You would think the defense is playing a lot more this year, but so far it is pretty much a wash. Texas is 80th in TOP (29:28) and Texas was 74th in TOP (29:51) last year.
  16. absolutely stupid. Next level stupid. DE/DT stunt has 0 to do with a crossing route. Most of the pressure on the year is not from the 2nd or 3rd level. You are throwing all kind of BS in here. This is simple. A gap pressure is the best pressure in football. Full stop on any stupid rebuttal to that. It is the fastest pressure and it is immediately in the face of the QB. This is the reason the OL blocks inside out, because the that is where the biggest threat is. Defense brings 6 vs 5, they leave the outside guy for the Qb not the inside guy. You are only one in the history of football to argue that you should leave the DT unblocked on a pas play and focus on the CB coming.
  17. Why are you trying to talk to a brick wall?
  18. Defenses have been getting pressure with 4 and with extra bodies. Kentucky was far and away the most aggressive, lets not pretend that is what Texas has been seeing all year. It is not rocket science, but for some reason you dont understand it. You think attacking the left guard is about Arch and not the abortion at LG and Center. If you get a guy coming through A gap the mobility of the QB does not matter. It is the best pressure in football. Your side bar into you want pressure up the middle on mobile Qbs is just ridiculous.
  19. Attacking the interior gaps is the best way to disrupt any offense. Has 0 to do with mobility. There is a huge difference between succeeding and trying. Texas replaced one of the best pass blocking guards in the nation with worn-down speed bump. Center is not quite as dramatic, but still a massive downgrade. You are being willfully ignorant.
  20. 100%. Its no different than a secondary with 2 all-Americans and 2 terrible players. The offense is going to attack the weak links, the defense will do the same. Kentucky hunted Brooks and Robertson.
  21. Its like syphilis spreading through Lubbock, even Goosby struggled
  22. Any chance you have Brooks and Robertson's pass pro vs Kentucky? I dont think it was appreciably better
  23. can this thread die already? I propose a death match between @That Guy and @Derka to finally end this debate
