  1. Eagles DL dominated the Chiefs OL. They were able to get pressure without blitzing, that is much worse on a QB. The best game plan a DC can have is the ability to constant pressure with 4. LeBron v MJ is an interesting sidebar. Not relevant to football, but appreciate the attempt. You have the obvious 5 starters vs 22. The even more obvious concept that in basketball you play offense and defense. Single player can make I much greater impact in basketball, than in football.
  2. Why would I take Brady over Mahomes.. Average Super Bowl score for Brady is 24.6 -21.. Average Super Bowl score for Mahommes is 25-29.6 Last 2 Super Bowls Brady won his defense gave up a combined 12 pts. Brady played in 4 Super Bowls where his defense gave up 17 or less pts. Mahommes has not played in a Super Bowl, where his defense gave up less that 20 pts. His defense has given up 30 or more in 3 of the 5 Super Bowls he has played in, compare that to just once for Brady.. I taking Mahommes, because I believe he is the better Qb to this point of his career. We will see if he can maintain this level, like Brady did. The idea that Brady is better because he has more Super Bowls, completely disregards the other 21 starters. Winning Super Bowls is about more than simply Qb play.
  3. I wont argue that. I see 2 QBs that are both the best of their generation. I believe Mahomes is the more talented QB, I dont think many would argue that. Only thing you get it in response is typical group think of Super Bowl wins, which is about a lot more than simple QB play. Its the most brain dead line of thinking by sports fans. It the type of thinking that would leave Dan Marino out of the HOF and add guys like Dilfer and Brad Johnson.
  4. He looked pretty bad vs the Giants. That is with Randy Moss and Welker at WR. Scoring 14 just isnt great. You cannot just compare games in a vacuum and think that gives you concrete evidence. You have to actually look at the game plan. How did WRs play, OL, did they have a run game, etc. Like I said I would take prime Mahommes over Brady. I take Mahommes over Brady, because physically Mahommes wins every comparison. It is not particularly close. I think both are accurate. Brady has a slight advantage in reading a defense.
  5. I read this wrong, but this is just showing that Brady and Mahomes are very good when their OLs play well. Not so much, when they dont. Interesting Brady got his first ring with a poor outing vs the Rams, it kind of highlights the flaws of ranking QBs by Super Bowls.
  6. Brady: 335 games, 64.3% comp, 266.3 yards/game, 7.4 yards/att, 1.94 TD/game, 0.63 int/game Mahomes: 112 games, 66.6% comp, 288.86 yards/game, 7.76 yards/att, 2.19 TD/game, 0.66 int/game.. 2,243 rushing yards We will see about longevity, but if you ask me to pick between prime Mahomes, Montana, and Brady I am taking Mahomes.
  7. He plays the Jack. That requires more ability to anchor vs the run and set the edge. It may take him a bit to gain the lower body strength to hold up vs College tackles. The biggest hurdle for him is the Edge position appears to be one of the deepest on the roster. Burke and Vasek look like a solid 1-2 at the Jack. Vasek has shown some ability to get pressure albeit in limited snaps. Zina is there, hard to know where he is at this point. Simmons and Moore are at the Buck. Simmons had a nice path to the field last year. Start him out in pass rushing situations in the Nascar package. (Simmon, Broughton, Sorrell, and Burke/Moore). He slowly moved to playing standard downs. Simmons had that elite pass rushing skill. He set the Duncanville record for sacks with 22.5 in a season. Jackson had 9 sacks. Lance will need to be a better all around player to get heavy snaps. It is possible, just a much harder road. I think that is a good development. It is great not to need a true freshman to have to contribute. I think one of the true freshman DTs may surprise. I could definitely see Justus Terry coming in for pass rushing situations (13 sacks) early in the year and growing into a larger role. I think it is more about opportunity, than talent.
  8. based on his write up, he thinks #4 is too high for Campbell but the Pats are desperate for OT..
  9. Allar is just really up and down. In almost every game he will have a couple throws/plays that are 1st round worthy and he generally follows them up with a WTF was that throw.
  10. He has a young baby. Possible he is considering the NFL, so he can have more time at home. That is the only reason I can imagine him entertaining a pay cut to go to that circus
  11. This is so ironic. You gave me shit for saying Texas will miss Baxter prior to the season. Told me Choice has this, stop being a pussy. Paraphrasing, but that is the gist.. I was hoping to see Baxter take the next step in 2024. Brooks and Blue both went for over 6 yards a carry in 23, while Baxter was as at 4.78. He had that nice run vs Tech, where he showed some serious burst. Wish I saw more flashes but he was bagged up most of the season, so I will reserve any judgement. Health is a concern coming off surgery. He is a great blocker in pass pro. Gibson was a disaster fumbling and in blocking. I can’t remember any runs, where he really flashed. Wisner is a solid guy. Like him, but I don’t see a star there. He is a guy that didn’t start at RB as a HS senior. Last season was a year where RBs generally got the yards the play was blocked for and not much more. Players improve, but you usually see it early with RBs. I hope I am wrong, but I see more of a solid stable of RBs. Do you think there is a 1st-2nd round RB in there? I am excited to see Simon.
  12. Citing ball security issues is a negative for a RB coach. That is a big part of coaching RBs. It’s like saying drops excuse a WR coach. 2 RBs had issues there. I like Choice and want him to come back, but it’s also fair to say last year was below the standard. Injuries were definitely a factor in that. Current RB room looks solid, but appears to lack some star power. Hopefully Simon comes in and shines. Personally, I think portal addition would be welcomed. Baxter’s ability to come back and stay healthy is a big question.
  13. Every player/position is different. Safety is position that is more reliant on instincts and football IQ, than raw athleticism. There are players like Caleb Downs that come in and have 0 learning curve. It is possible that Jonah Wiliams comes and is a star, I just do not think it is probable.
  14. I dont have high hopes for him this year. He is obviously very talented, but safety requires a lot more than just athleticism. He is going to behind understanding coverages and route combinations. I hope I am wrong, and he is just so instinctive that it does not matter.
  15. RB James Simon, Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist Academy RB Rickey Stewart Jr., Tyler (Texas) Chapel Hill Hoping to here that one of these 2 are the breakout star of spring ball. Crazy with the history of RBs at Texas but cannot have RB being one of the biggest question marks on the offense for 2 straight years.
  16. Quinn had 17 turnovers his last year on campus. Colt had a down Soph year. There is a difference there. Colt became a Heisman candidate. That is how development is supposed to work. Ewers had no running game? People like to talk about how Quinn went 2-0 vs A&M and OU. Texas ran for 417 yards in those games. Only 2 teams in SEC play ran for a higher average per rushing attempt than Texas this year (Bama and Auburn). Auburn Qbs ran for over 300 yards and Bama went for >750 yards, compared to 18 for Texas (Manning 108 and Quinn -82). There is the difference. That brings me to things that Sam and Colt did for the team that Quinn could not. Elhinger rushed for 1,903 yards in his career with 33 tds and 3 fumbles. Colt ran for 1571 and 20 TDs (couldnt find fumbles). Quinn finished his career with -59 yards with 8 TDs, and 7 fumbles. Your argument hinges on team accomplishments. Last year Texas set a record for draft picks. That record might be broken this year. Those were arguably the most talented teams Texas has fielded in the modern era. The draft picks are evidence of that. FEI ratings for Offense and defense: Quinn: 2024: OFEI 18, DFEI 3 2023: OFEI 19, DFEI 6 2022: OFEI 17, DFEI 8 Elhinger: 2020: 17, DFEI 37 2019: 8, DFEI 42 2018: 17, DFEI 29 Colt: 2009: OFEI 17, DFEI 6 2008: OFEI 2, DFEI 4 2007: OFEI 19, DFEI 42 You notice anything there? Quinn never played with a defense that was outside the top 10. He is the only Qb on the list that can say that. He is also the only QB not to have a top 10 offense. When you are comparing QBs, you should look at how those players compared to their contemporaries. Why are Colt and VY considered well above Sam and Quinn? Because they were Heisman finalists, All-Americans, and 1st team All-Conference players. VY was the best QB in his time. You could certainly argue Colt was the best or damn close. Quinn and Sam were never All-Americans, never Heisman finalists, and never 1st team All-Conference. I view Quinn and Sam as pretty comparable college players. Both were good QBs but never considered one of the best QBs in the nation. The difference in team success can be seen on the defensive side of their teams. That is not hate, it is just being honest about the product on the field.
  17. That should have been 1st round WR (Worthy) and not 1st round RB..
  18. Using Junior years is apples for apples also. It’s blatantly obvious why you don’t want to use both QBs 3rd year as starters. Nobody is comparing Colt’s senior year to Quinn’s Sophomore year. The age thing is a useless sidebar. It’s about as useless as comparing Colt and Ewers. Colt is clearly above
  19. I get why you are picking year 2, that was Colt's worse year and Quinn's best. Not shocking since Quinn had a 1st rnd RB, 2nd round WR, 2nd round RB, 4th round TE, and a 6th round WR at the skill positions that year. Arguably the best skill positions on a team any team at Texas. Compare year 3 as starters. Colt: 332 - 433, 76.7% comp, 3859 yards, 34 TDs, 8 Ints... 136 carries, 561 yards, 4.1 per, 11 TDs Ewers: 293- 445, 65.8% comp. 3472, 31 TDs, 12 Ints.... 57 carries, -82 yards, 2 TDs.. They are not particularly close.
  20. Banks should have a floor, no matter how stupid GMs get about height. I believe I heard 4 sacks in ~1600 pass blocking plays. I think he can play LT, but even if you have doubts. He can slide to RT, either guard spot, or play LT in a pinch. Huge value to having that type of versatility.
  21. I have Quinn behind Sam. Quinn may finish his last 2 years on teams that set the record for NFL draft picks for Texas.. Last 2 years for Colt - 10 draft picks For Sam - 8 draft picks For VY- 9 picks Quinn had 11 last year and that number is likely to be met or exceeded this year. His number is going to be in the 20s. List of Texas Longhorns in the NFL draft - Wikipedia VY and Colt were All-American (Colt unanimous) Ewers and Sam peaked at 2nd team all-conference. There is no argument on #1 and #2 for modern era Texas Qbs. I didnt see Street, so I cannot comment on him. I think anyone digging in their heels on players they never seen should be ignored. Colt and VY are legends. Sam and Ewers are good players, but not legends. I have Sam over Ewers, big reason being the 17 turnovers this year, but I understand that is an argument.
  22. I think it is a bit of both. Scouts tend to over think these things. Can I draft a LT that is ~6’3” top 10? Does his height make him a RT/Guard? I know his 3 years of tape says I should, but he is not the prototype. The underwear Olympics are real. There always seems to be a great player that falls and a jag (for the draft) that rises. Banks may drop to 15-20 area and a guy like Alfred Collins may move up early-mid second round. I always find the give and take between measurables and film to be interesting this time of year.
  23. Banks seems to be slipping a bit. Sad to say, but how he measures will probably decide it. People throwing out he is 1 inch from the prototype, not enough length, might be a guard. I hate to see this stuff happen to him, but it is a bit funny considering people yammering about Turntine being a guard in the recruit chat.
  24. That is one thing that helps older guys. Most people dont remember the games.
  25. I believe that number is 17. 12 ints and I see 5 fumbles lost in 14 games. Still very high Quinn Ewers Rushing Stats - NCAA College Football Rushing | FOX Sports (not sure why FOX is the only site I can find with fumbles)
