  1. I remember back in ‘05 the commentators were making it seem as if Maroul would be on the fast track to the majors. He was fantastic during that run, but it was a bit over the top. I think it was those same commentators that force fed us hundreds of fucking “rudy” references in our two games against asu in ‘09.. Speaking of notable two-way players, I know Mike Leake didn’t do it much at asu but he was an outstanding college player and a solid pro, whom I believe skipped the minors altogether. I’ll never forget my utter disbelief when Texas chased his ass after spotting him a six-run lead early and Augie delivered his famous speech as the defense came off the field. He was arguably the best pitcher in the nation that year. Anyway, I’m not sure if he has been mentioned, or if he even qualifies, as I don’t think he was ever called up either, but Jason Stokes was the first name I thought of. That guy had serious power in high school and I think he got off to a decent start before injuries took a toll on his career. I could be totally wrong about that though.
  2. I’m late to the party, but is this some sort of taboo aggie foreplay ritual? Two sheep til ungulate orgy! I’ll see myself out.
  3. I was fortunate to get to catch a few games during the last two regular season series of papi’s career—at yankee stadium and then at Fenway. It was a memorable week. The highlights: I got to see mark teixeira hit a come-from-behind walk off grand slam (the last hr of his career, I was at his home debut in Arlington back in ‘03) on a dreary night in the Bronx, which was bonkers. The Sox clinched the division that night. Then in Boston, I got to see ortiz hit what would be the game-winning hr (the last of his career) in the opener vs the jays in downright miserable weather..not one person left early. It wasn’t a good ending to the season (1-5 that week, kimbrel couldn’t throw strikes), but the sendoff for ortiz was nice. He was incredible in that final year. Anyway, I watched the hof induction and thought I’d share the memories it brought back.
  4. Are you referring to the direct quote Gerry got from Shelby regarding where he is in his recruitment process? I don’t necessarily disagree but it came from the player in this instance.
  5. His brother signed with the trojans last year as well.
  6. I bumped into him at the game in Omaha and he was being followed around the concourse by his phalanx of fawning sycophants..not just the delegation of texags staff from what I could tell. Texas had a guy with a similar following out there..his name was Huston fucking Street.
  7. Wow, last night I decided not to share my story about sleeping in my car the night vy beat osu in ‘05 because it wasn’t really germane..Only to return and read about where each one of you fine fuckers lived during college and what the bathroom setup was.
  8. No love for whitehead, the pitcher? I’m obviously kidding, but I think he is going to be solid in the lineup next year. I’m fuzzy on the particulars, but wasn’t the ou pitcher who had the monster cws in a similar situation as Witt? If so, that kid made a ton of money coming back and pitching well. Somebody correct me if I have that wrong. That said, I’m still not expecting him to contribute at this point. It’s a risky proposition.
  9. Nah, fuck that. If the kid was playing games, that’s his problem. It is in everybody’s interest to at least bring a little bit of credibility to the idea that it was a legit recruitment and a legit commitment. Suppose the news didn’t get out, and everybody was completely caught off guard. Would that not bring a wave of unwanted press above and beyond what transpired over the past few days? Somebody needed to be the adult and realize that committing, seemingly on a whim, to a team you haven’t visited and wasn’t even listed in your top five, might be funny to every 17 year old, but maybe would not be received as well by everybody else. I like the addition, but I have no problem with what Gerry did. Neg me if you want, but the world does not exist for kids’ amusement, especially in this new nil climate. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the process and drum up intrigue without harming everybody’s credibility in the process. tl;dr “get off my lawn!”
  10. The cognitive dissonance in their posts is astounding. They go from “how come everybody was up in arms when we landed our class last year, but nobody says anything about what tu is doing?” to “meh, they only have five top 100 guys, we signed 17 top 100 guys in our class.” Could that be the answer, fucksticks? They are all just like jimbo—can’t figure out whether they want to brag about reality or bitch about perception.
  11. Not gonna get political, but do those yuppie motherfuckers wear adidas?? That’s what matters..
  12. Wasn’t there a top 50ish pitcher from Keller who signed with usc last year? I don’t remember seeing anything about him playing this year, but maybe I missed it. I’m wondering what the story is—if he was injured or is a portal candidate. Anybody know?
  13. So, are we going to bury the lede here and not ask the hard-hitting question— did this woman or the father have a manning complex 17-18 years ago?? I wouldn’t suspect those are two names that just naturally come to mind when thinking about what you want your Irish twins to be called..
  14. I remember when “maulerson” became the first commit of his class and they released the video of Mack telling him, presumably tongue-in-cheek, that if something happened to him (Mack), his spot would still be saved. Seemed ominous. Getting back on topic, I don’t really give a shit what they look like, I just prefer having an ol coach that knows what the fuck he’s looking for, can identify guys that fit, and then can close the fucking deal. Scraping the bottom of the barrel last minute to fill the class and selling it as guys with tremendous growth potential is for the birds. I’m also just thankful we don’t have to listen Herman bloviate about how he had no idea who herb hand was but auburn ran inside zone exquisitely on film.
  15. This. It’s not a fucking conspiracy. Also, was Coffey the guy who absolutely lost his shit on a stream when arch didn’t choose uga? These fuckwits really shouldn’t be co-signing aggies without doing a modicum of critical thinking first.
  16. Nothing says “trying to breathe relevance” like giving your coach a fake national championship trophy to help him understand why you gave him a fully guaranteed, nearly nine-figure contract.. A pretty succinct euphemism for the aggie condition.
  17. Piggybacking on NoName’s post above, I’d like to point out that the aggies currently trail every big 12 team other than Kansas in recruiting (composite) for 2023. If I am reading the 247 rankings correctly, they trail all former and currently-scheduled future big 12 schools other than ku as well. It’s early but that pool party better be lit.
  18. I think it is funny that they believe Arch will be resistant to redshirting or being a backup in any form. When you look at the two prime candidates for the heisman AND the #1 pick in next year’s draft, both were 5-star qbs, who redshirted, one served as a backup for a year, then took the job and were able to perform well. And oh btw, one of those two already has a fucking heisman and either might have been the #1 pick this yr if allowed to enter. Even by their own fucked up standards when looking at ewers, they would have to admit that if justin fields “sucked” before taking the field in Columbus, it certainly didn’t adversely affect the overall trajectory of his career (ntm he displaced another dude that sat, won a heisman, & went #1). In terms of making the early jump, maybe they are reaching all the way back to john david booty for inspiration? A louisiana phenom from a football family recruited by sark who didn’t play immediately but eventually was first team all-conference, rose bowl mvp, and an nfl draft pick..did I just give them ammunition? Couldn’t beat out *checks notes* carson palmer and matt leinart..clearly the guy sucked.
  19. Did I miss where former ut commit and later ut staff member, Riley Dodge, progeny of a former ut starting qb, was hired by tech in early December and had swayed ewers toward Lubbock before Texas put their dick on the table and splashed the pot? Was there some other Southlake staffer hired? Also, are these the same dolts who were ready to tar and feather their fourth year starting qb, the one who would lead them to just their second top 5 finish since bear bryant was their hc, because his personal statements didn’t align with the political leanings of aggie fans, in favor of their favorite malnourished true freshman qb, who lasted a mere 4.5 quarters last year (after a full year in a college s&c program) before being broken, and has seemingly already been passed on the depth chart by two dudes who weren’t on the roster six months ago? Mond wasn’t great but he is literally the guy they now point to as an example of how a qb can flourish in jimbo’s antiquated system, yet most were ready cut their losses before the season began and nearly everyone else joined after week one. He also happens to be the only guy jimbo recruited that stuck. Considering “the world’s greatest fans” literally shit-talked the kid who delivered the win that they have been fellating themselves over ever since into the portal, I’d say they should probably shut the fuck up about how Texas manages expectations with their qbs. Not for nothing, but I understand we’ve got Matt Stafford displacing Aaron Rodgers this year with Joe Burrow waiting in the wings, so I think we’re good..
