  1. I moved to Austin 12/20 from FW. Was in Houston prior to that, so just checking off all the major Texas metroplexes.
  2. If y'all need a non-photographer birder to help you find some good birds, I humbly offer my services. Although you seem to have no trouble finding good stuff on your own, Doug.
  3. Negged for posting that of all possible NBA duos.
  4. The 7-day case average ever so slightly ticked up in Texas this week. Hopefully it's just a tick and not a trend upward again.
  5. It sure would be satisfying watching that arrogant fucking smirk disappear from his face as his armed forces shit the bed.
  6. Dude, you don't have to hear this shit from the fucking liberal MSM. Trump happily says this shit to anyone who listens. How fucking stupid are you?
  7. Hey, Leo has donated to lots of climate causes so that absolves him of any hypocritical behavior, right? It's straight out of the Sack playbook. I'm shocked you don't approve.
  8. Just hit the midway point of pregnancy #1. Our little boy was looking great on the anatomy scan today. I'm certainly not prepared for him to be here yet, but can't wait for him to arrive.
  9. Imagine having actual power to curb climate change, and choosing instead to be as greedy as Joe Manchin
  10. Oh yeah, that's how satire works!
  11. Someone else's experience at work the other day. Weird how these tough guys treat women this way but never seem to have anything to say to me, a very average-sized dude. It's almost like these wannabe badasses are actually just giant pussies.
  12. We are entering the 2nd trimester today. Just found out we're having a boy and all our genetic testing was low risk. Yesterday was a good day.
  13. They gave my wife a 3rd Moderna for whatever reason, but it kicked her ass. Fortunately for just a day this time rather than two with the second shot. I got Pfizer and felt nothing.
  14. Today's US at 11 weeks showed everything progressing as it should. It's beginning to feel real now, especially with the baby looking much more baby-like than last month.
  15. I assume it has been mentioned in the Boebert thread, but when there are over a dozen Republican congressfolks earning their own thread for going above and beyond with their insanity, racism, etc, it's hard to keep track of all their transgressions. God, they all suck so bad...
  16. I got my booster the other day, Pfizer to go with my original Moderna. No symptoms, but then I didn't really have any from the initial doses. Predictably, my wife was unable to get out of bed the first day after her shot due to severe chills and body aches, exactly like the last two times. It's infuriating that she voluntarily goes through that misery, despite being at minimal risk herself, and 30% of the country can't pull their heads out of their asses for 2 seconds to do something for the good of the rest of the country.
  17. Now that we are expecting one (same time frame as you, Shady Ray), I imagine we will want to go for two. Before we got pregnant, we frequently discussed having one and adopting one, as my wife is adopted herself. I guess we will we reevaluate as we get further into Round 1. So ready for prenatal visit #2 and getting out of the first trimester.
  18. Also, Desert Solitaite by Abbey. Given his overall attitude, might hit hard for a teenager especially
  19. It's Christmas book time again! I suck at fiction, but some adventure/wilderness non-fiction they might like... Undaunted Courage (Ambrose)- about Lewis and Clark Endurance (Lansing)- Shackleton getting stuck in the Antarctic ice and trying to survive Over the Edge of the World (Bergreen)- Magellan's circumnavigation Into Thin Air (Krakaeur)- probably familiar with this tragedy on Everest but I actually read this one in high school and loved it No Beast So Fierce (Hucklebridge)- man-killing tiger in India and the hunt for it Astoria (Stark)- about one of the first attempts at colonizing the Pacific coast Life and Death in the Andes (MacQuarrie)- each chapter highlights a different story from SA, from Darwin and the galapagos, to Escobar, to Butch Cassidy's last stand
  20. I know, haven't told friends or family yet. But just had to get it out somewhere.
  21. I'm scheduled to join the club for the first time on 6/11/22. We are just now 8 weeks, but initial US showed a strong heartbeat, so from what I can tell, miscarriage risk is now relatively low. We were not really trying, but it's amazing how quickly you get excited for something you didn't imagine happening anytime soon. I'll be 34 and she will be 31 when the baby is due, so now is as good a time as any.
  22. Snakes and spiders are generally OK with me, clearly. Roaches are gross but just a nuisance. Rats, especially inside a residence? Those can fuck right off. Alberta's keeping that shit locked down though.
  23. Yea, looked at another picture I took of it and it is a 7-legger.
  24. I did, hence the zero asterisks.
