    Tennis Thread

I've never played on anything but a hardcourt. Playing on clay or grass would be incredible. And after my initial surge of play during my wife's maternity leave with our first, I've been out maybe twice in the last three years. I need to correct that.
  2. "He wasn't there for healthcare purposes, he was just trying to escape from being kidnapped!" is an argument, I guess...
  3. I'm going to have to inject bleach into my occipital lobe to remove that image from my mind. Thanks.
  4. Texas national championship game, Olympic 100M final and a day at Wimbledon would probably be my top 3 bucket list sporting events. That must have been an incredible experience. And before I get any shit, I was a poor senior who didn't luck out in the lottery and had a grad school interview the following day for the '09 game.
  5. I think a lot of the crowd she grew up with turned into kind of deadbeats, and she felt she was going to be stuck if she stayed. She was also one of the few non-whites at her school, which was not easy as a kid. Going back as an adult, she definitely appreciates it more.
  6. See you in CB! I'll be there visiting my wife's sister with the family for a few days the end of July. I've only ever been in the summer to see her family, and now we've got a 3 year-old and 9 month-old, so our hikes are somewhat limited, but it's a gorgeous place. And to hop on the thread derail, my wife is from Colorado Springs. She doesn't have the fondest memories growing up there, but her older brother and his longtime gf are due with their first child at the end of the year. I am not attempting to dissuade her from moving back to CO sometime in the next few years. I could be outside for hours every day, especially out there. Doesn't hurt that in addition to her sister's place in CB, their family has 100 acres and a cabin they're fixing up just a bit north of Waunita Hot Springs. I get to check out that property for the first time on this trip too. Coming back to Round Rock afterward is going to sting.
  7. They're doing a wonderful job of making me forget what life was like pre-2016.
  8. All my shit-talking Fritz is finally paying off!
  9. Shelton has been fun to watch this tournament. About to go up 2-1.
  10. Fight with the parents in the hookem house! Had to take my 3 year-old upstairs when my dad slammed his hand on the couch and said that fox wasnt the only place he got his news.
  11. Shelton came out serving angry that the final game of the match was delayed overnight.
  12. Gauff about to pull a Pegula.
  13. Can we send @Mitch Cumsteen's wife to the original cabin? I'd love too see what happens when utilitarian meets the opposite of that.
  14. You could fit two Tom Selleck mustaches between her upper lip and nose. Pass.
  15. OK, that was my understanding as well. Just never know what's coming down the pike with that fucking reptile Miller trying to create a white America.
  16. Wife. She was born in the US, so I don't know if she technically gained citizenship through birthright or through some other means at the time of adoption.
  17. White US citizens
  18. My wife was born in the US to a Korean non-citizen who was in the US for school, then immediately adopted. We live in Texas. Can anyone tell me how concerned we should be?
  19. 1.2 million acres today (plus weakened protections of 58 million additional acres with the rescinded roadless rule), NWRs, NFs and NPs tomorrow. I think anyone who lives in Texas and gives the tiniest shit about the outdoors would agree that more federal lands is preferable to our situation, where over 96% of the land is privately held.
  20. I loved this hike. Went with the now-wife in 2016. We woke up early from the Eagle Creek Campground and did a total of about 12 miles out-and-back. Hardly saw anybody before our turn-around spot. There were at least a half-dozen waterfalls on that 6-mile stretch. I think there was a fire out there a year or two after we did it, so I'm curious how it looks now. It was incredibly green when we went.
  21. And public lands
  22. The 3 year-old was watching a show about some Australian zoo. They showed a bilby (see below if you're marsupial-illiterate), which he referred to as a "bunny pig". Pretty spot-on observation, honestly.
  23. There are hardly any locations in the lower 48 greater than 5 miles from a road. Can't wait for the Trump expressway over Crater Lake. Driving allllllll the way around is just such a hassle.
  24. I'm sure the people who have no problem with this would be totally cool with passages from the Quran or the Seven Tenets of Satanism adorning an elementary school classroom.
