  1. "I want to believe there's a heaven. But I can't not believe there's a hell," I'm starting to share Vince Gilligan's sentiment more and more, and I'm not religious. More people than I could have ever imagined deserve it.
  2. Here... https://www.wbez.org/immigration/2025/03/13/chicago-attorneys-accuse-federal-agents-of-violating-immigrants-rights-and-take-legal-action
  3. I fully believe this, but given your history with Twitter uploads, can you provide a link?
  4. I'm still laughing at #2.
  5. Goddamn, #2🤣
  6. We were not expecting a storm last night, right? Hit us here in 78665 around 3 AM, and rain has either continued or resumed this morning.
  7. I've really been pumping this thread up recently. Perhaps it's because spring migration is right around the corner. I do have some somber news from the birding world to report. Houston/Austin birding legend Victor Emmanuel passed away. I met him once at Bolivar Flats, completely unaware of his legendary status among Texas birders at the time. He was incredibly eager to share his knowledge with anyone he came across. RIP https://www.statesman.com/story/news/local/2025/03/12/victor-emanuel-obit-austin-texas-birding-nature-guide-dies-age-84-illness/82306479007/
  8. Trudeau 2028!
  9. The Republican base and Democratic lawmakers share the similarity of living in an alternate reality. Republicans reality being one where facts don't matter, while Democratic politicians live in a world where rules and norms still exist.
  10. https://ebird.org/checklist/S217689804 Epic find by David Sarkozi in Anahuac, or whatever the fuck it's called these days. Amur stonechat, as you may guess from the name, is native to East Asia. It is considered very rare when one shows up in Alaska or the UK. This would be waaaay down the list of birds expected to show up in Texas.
  11. Did anyone else watch Dark Matter? What I'd give to jump into that box with the fam and find myself in the alternate reality McPoyle's character ended up in. I honestly wonder if such an alternate reality would even exist, or if we (humankind) were always destined to end this way within a couple centuries of the industrial revolution? The shitty part is I don't think we were. Conscious decisions by a few powerful individuals fucked us all.
  12. Do we know this?
  13. You would think hunters would would also give a shit about cutting down national forests and poisoning wetlands.
  14. The North Korean Kim's have never been ousted from office, unlike those corrupt South Koreans. It's obvious which one is the true democracy we need to ally ourselves with.
  15. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1919 is a real thing, and the administration just today gutted a chunk of it that holds companies responsible for "accidental" kills, like those that may occur from oil spills.
  16. Except the things they terminate are usually native wildlife. Outdoor cats suck.
  17. I was pretty despondent for a few days, then turned my political brain off for 3 months, figuring I would need the break before shit truly started hitting the fan after the inauguration. I figured it would be horrible, way worse than the first time. Didn't think it would be this bad this quick.
  18. Also, during my weekly screaming into the void session with John Carter's office, I checked his age so I could comment on a child growing up during the Cold War turning into a supporter of Russia. That fucker is 83 years old
  19. A draft dodger and a man-child who uses his kid as a shield... for some reason I don't see them having thr balls to do that. Perhaps the only thing greater than their egos is their cowardice.
  20. I honestly don't even know what I'm saying.
  21. French door question. I noticed some light coming through the bottom and top of our doors. I thought it might just be worn weather stripping, so I replaced the center ateop. But upon closer inspection, there is a decent sized gap at the bottom where the doors meet. I believe these doors were probably installed by the previous owner. Can I do something with the door threshold to seal it, or is this an astragal problem or what?
  22. I have not, but I know some very rare birds have shown up there the last few years, so I imagine it's good for everyday birding as well.
  23. Brazos Bend is one of my favorite birding spots. Especially when I was just getting into it because many of the birds are somewhat large, close and exotic-looking.
