  1. So Amy to $100? I think that's what I'm reading.
  2. My 11 year old got the first one this weekend and had no side effects other than a sore arm. Went to Walgreens and gave her birthday as a year earlier. They already had her in the system with her correct birthday and said she's not 12. I just told him the year was 2009, not 2010. He changed it and gave her the shot, no other questions asked. Hey birthday was in April, so not quite 11.5, but she definitely passes for 12 or 13.
  3. Wow, that's pretty cool. Pictures?
  4. Never really considered Cartier, but absolutely love this Santos.
  5. Just saw this. Sold because we could get alot for it, didn't go often enough for the amount of effort it took to coordinate everything like maid service, yard service, repairs, maintenance, etc.. mostly my fault due to work. We also had gotten where we need something larger because our kids have gotten older and wanted to take friends.
  6. Yeah, Eggs Mexicana with a bunch of tortillas was almost a must on the way home from 6th. I haven't eaten there but a handful of times in the last 10 years, but the last time I went about a year ago I took one bite of a quesadilla and had to throw it away. Disgusting.
  7. So if I get "hit" for having a few bathtub pics of my sister's kids she sent me and the algorithm needs to learn those are not child porn I'm guessing there is some sort of manual process which results in some apple employee going through all of my pictures to ensure it is, in fact, not child pornography. So, even though I've done absolutely nothing wrong, a stranger gets the opportunity to go through hundreds or thousands of my private photographs? What if I have completely legal pictures of my wife naked? I should be fine with letting them snoop through my personal shit? Seems like that "review" job might be a ripe place to start looking for actual perverts and pedos. What about documents? Will they have to go through all my documents to determine I haven't copied pictures into a word file so they aren't jpgs? I often have some sensitive, confidential work info that I have accessed on my phone. Fair game to look through that?
  8. 85+% masked at my daughter's middle school for orientation. Parents and kids and teachers. I was impressed. I had already told my daughter that she'll be wearing a mask and explained why. She was completely cool with it. Looks like the majority will also be wearing masks, so that's good. She's 11, but we're also taking her to get the vaccine in a couple weeks since she just had her other school shots today.
  9. So maybe this should go into the 2020 music thread, but I came across the latest Blitzen Trapper album, Holy Demos, Future Demos. It seems to be the same songs as last years album Holy Smokes, Future Jokes but haven't listened enough to both to determine the differences other than maybe less production. In either form, its pretty badass and I highly recommend checking it out. Always appreciated their 70s vibe and unique song structure. Baptismal Sons and Unwed Mothers Holy Smokes, Future Jokes Don't Let Me Run Requiem Hazy Morning
  10. For anyone that is having trouble with Tapa. I was apparently logged out of surly on Tapa when shit got borked and my password wasn't working to login. I hit the reset password and it kept spinning and never went to the reset page. I closed the app, reopened it, and I was logged in and could access the site. Just FYI if anyone has similar issues.
  11. Tapa still not working for me. Nothing showing up.
  12. Actually it's more about talking past each other by lumping opinions you disagree with into a single position taken by the "other" side instead of correctly attributing a position to the single poster who made a specific statement. Then claiming goalposts are moving. Just my $0.02 from mostly observing the discourse here and I'm not accusing you or anyone specifically. But it happens all the time.
  13. EGOC news Found this. I'm in at 0.002 so this run up has been good. Already dumped 3 million shares at 0.005 and 0.008 so way into the money already. Still have 1 million so if this could run on up to a dollar, I'd be good.
  14. Interesting, my wife lived in Campinas when she was a kid.
  15. Second half of the album is significantly stronger than the first half. To be honest, after the 1st 4 songs I had tuned out. Wooden Soldiers is alright. Starting with Transmitting/Receiving, the rest is really, really good.
  16. 24 hour media is definitely a significant issue as well. Beyond misinformation in the race to be first, the 24-hour news cycle is part of the insular groupthink and people only listen to what they want to hear and have it beat into their head over and over and over and over. It also provides a perfect outlet for some depressed, hate-filled, nobody to become the most widely known person in the world. In this celebrity-driven world, that's a huge draw for someone that feels like they are invisible and noone understands them.
  17. I have this. It's great other than being a little messy. But never had a single issue with it in a couple years.
  18. I asked this a couple years ago but everyone wanted to focus on guns instead of the mental health issues which are obviously the underlying problem. Guns just make it easier. I believe the problem is mental health, but not necessarily a diagnosed mental illness, but instead a culture which breeds mental issues. Some of these have been touched on above with respect to accountability. The primary issue with mental health deficiencies I believe is cultural and the second is true mental deficiency/illness. I think single parent/two-parent working households presents an enormous problem. We are bombarded with everything we HAVE to have and in order to have those things, one of the sacrifices is for both parents to work. In the case of single parents, there isn't an option, they are the sole breadwinner. Not only are parents not parenting and teaching kids respect and caring for others, personal responsibility, and a sense of morality, they just aren't present. They are working. And when they are there, they are more focused on themselves than on the sacrifice it takes to actually raise kids properly. I'm not immune to this, nobody is. But there are different levels and I think there is a healthy balance of taking care of oneself and the responsibility that comes with raising kids. But the US leads the world in consumerism and image by a large margin and I think that has created a culture of judging people by what they have and not who they are/what type of person they are. This lack of parenting also leads to the lack of accountability issues others have talked about because either consciously or subconsciously, the parents realize they are absent to some degree and don't want to risk further alienating their kids, so they always side with them, never punish, always reinforce that the kid is right. This isn't parenting. Secondly is social media. Too many people in this world (and especially this country) are focused on "me" instead of "us". Everyone can be a star or the perfect family or live the perfect life on Facebook/Insta/TikTok and these outlets create a false sense of reality for people who see themselves as NOT having the same stuff/life/experience/happiness as everyone they see on social media. It breeds discontent and depression and a sense of loneliness and lack of caring for others. The only way to reach out and develop relationships is online with other people who have similar experiences and harbor the same feelings and it spirals downward from there. We see this clearly with Politics - people's world view shrinks because they are force fed more content that supports their world view and demonizes any other viewpoints. Again, this is rooted in the rampant consumerism and the need to HAVE things and be LIKED which is fostered by our material/marketing culture more in the US than anywhere else in the world. Third is true mental illness. Some people just have their wires crossed and should be treated but are not. That's an entirely different conversation, but it is something that needs to be addressed. For those who don't have a moral compass to help guide them, (from not being raised to have this moral compass) they lose a sense of right/wrong and instead focus on the unfairness of the Haves/Have Nots they see playing out on their Twitter/Insta accounts. They eventually depersonalize the Haves and feel justified in killing these people. My $0.02.
  19. St. Mary's/Brittmore here, so very close.
  20. Yeah, we didn't lose power either. I'm at Wilcrest/I-10.
  21. Just sold ours a few months ago. Listed on online at 10:30pm and had a full price offer by 9:30 the next morning. No realtors involved. We were in Pirates Beac hand listed 40k above what we would have taken and thought we could get.
  22. https://abc13.com/whats-on-fire-in-northwest-houston-west-kempwood-brittmore/10874405/ Brittmore and Kempwood. Apparently shelter in place north of Westview between Gessner and Eldridge.
  23. My boss and his wife both tested positive yesterday. They were vaccinated. Her condition is currently very serious and she is on her way to the hospital. I don't know if it is the Delta variant or not, but would guess so. She is high-risk with some other immuno-diseases, so I'm sure that is playing a part in the severity. My boss says he feels tired like he has a cold but is otherwise ok.
