  1. Can't rely on anyone else. Winning out is always our only chance. As far as I can remember, a 1-loss Texas has never been given the consideration to get into the MNC game/BCS/CFP. Only time we ever get to play for it all, is when we're undefeated. We're not Alabama, we don't get mulligans 66% of the time.
  2. Gonna be even better when the ags lose to this Alabama team.
  3. Imma go with Earl rather than you. Just sit there in your wrongness.
  4. That 0.8" is for this entire event that started 2 days ago or whenever. But yeah, that was the first measurable rain at my house since June 21. I don't live east though, I live west. I'm in NW Travis Co or you could think of it as the very southern bit of Cedar Park, the part that is in Travis County.
  5. I hated 11 AM TX-OU games as a student and very young graduate, because I was staying out all night the night before. Nowadays on Friday night, I go out to dinner at my usual place in Dallas, but am back sipping beers at the RV lot by 8 or 9, go to bed by 10 or 11, and waking up at 6 refreshed and ready for my first 37 wax cup beers of the day.
  6. I'm probably around 6-7 miles away from AB, and we've had 0.8" for the entire event. But it could be worse, I could be in New Braunfels.
  7. It's still showing in theaters, so they're going to charge a premium for home rental for now. If you think of it that way and you're a family of 4, then $6-$7 per person isn't bad. But if you want to wait for more "normal" rental prices then it's probably another 3-4 weeks.
  8. 0.8" at my house in NW Travis. I was delighted, while my wife was underwhelmed but accustomed to it.
  9. .33" here, first measurable rain since 6/21. This is me earlier, maybe...
  10. Yup. The day it was first revealed at Gregory Gym in 1955. People need to STFU about it.
  11. Outstanding, In n Out Derka has arrived. Nobody gives a shit.
  12. So in other words, a perfect surlyhorns thread.
  13. I still make mixtapes all the time. They're just called playlists, now. I'm the master at them, it's kind of my special power. Anyway, sorry to see this happen to Red Ash, I'm glad no one was hurt and I hope they can recover quickly. I also hope that the other spaces in the building didn't sustain too much damage from smoke or fire.

So Nicole has moved on from throwing Rainey Street drunks into Town Lake, and she's now into arson? What is the world coming to?
  15. Yup. And the ags-New Mexico game drew... 794K. So... yeah...
  16. Just imagine if they'd put it on ABC instead of ESPN. So, for the 2023 season so far, this game sits behind FSU-LSU which drew 9.17M viewers on ABC on a Sunday night of a holiday weekend, with zero other college football competition.
  17. Was watching the game last night with some neighbors, and one of them (my actual next door neighbor) is a huge Giants fan. Really great guy though, not a trash-talker, so we get along well. But halfway through the second quarter, he just quietly stood up, grabbed his ice chest, and walked out the door. Can't blame him.
  18. They tied OU in the division but lost the divisional tie-breakers so OU went to the title game, similar to what happened in 2008 in the Texas/OU/Tech tie, where OU won the B12 tie-breaker rules and went to represent the South. Of course, we don't claim 2008 on our wall, as a conference championship, because we're not pathetic gomers.
  19. Well I've always thought that, while I don't personally care if fans of other schools are doing it, when it's performed on the field by a player, toward another player, then the normal taunting rules should apply. That's what makes the false narrative so stupid, that Texas administrators "whined" to have it made into a penalty. That never happened. There's nothing specific about it, it simply should be treated as taunting, same as a throat-slash gesture or standing over a player when you've knocked him down, or any of that other stuff players do to taunt one another. Also, I think taunting rules are silly and shouldn't be part of the game. These are grown-ass young men and they should be able to both dish it out, and take it. But as long as the silly taunting rules ARE a part of the game, then horns-down should be treated no differently than any other intentional taunt.
  20. Anyway, my personal thoughts on horns-down is that it's silly and it makes the person doing it, look stupid and weak-minded. Unless it's Ant Hill. Then, it just looks awesome. And I've been known to throw a smiling horns-down back at sooners or ags or whoever's doing it. It makes them confused and angry, which I find amusing.
  21. Before the season in anticipation of this game, didn't the SEC explicitly state that horns-down would not be a penalty? Shouldn't matter WHO is doing it, them or us, if it's specifically called out as an exception that will not be penalized.
