  1. My whitey suburban folks were actually great cooks in the 70s, my dad grew up in west Texas and his cooking was always heavily influenced by Mexican and New Mexican food. His stacked enchiladas with red chimayo and fried eggs on top are absolutely slammin, and I grew up eating chorizo and scrambled eggs with diced serranos, and a bunch of other great food. We also owned a BBQ restaurant and his brisket and ribs are absolutely amazing. So using a variety of seasoning was common for my parents. Even so, the one main staple that they leaned on heavily, especially for grilled foods, was the Lawry's Seasoned Salt. Don't get me wrong, I like it and always have some in the cupboard. But man, pretty much anything grilled or pan-fried or sauteed, was just doused in that stuff.
  2. Meanwhile immamac and blacklab:
  3. Note-- Reading surlyhorns does NOT constitute counseling. If anything it is likely to worsen your condition. Honestly, anyone who posts on this site should probably seek large amounts of professional help.
  4. Yup, it's not journalism, it's entertainment. If the "entertainment" is annoying enough and people stop tuning in, they'll be forced to make a change. Until then, you'll get ol' Cesspool calling Ohio State games, and you'll like it.
  5. Lulz. They wish.
  6. Yup, I had near-daily shipments from them when I was restoring my vintage Airstream. They've got just about everything.
  7. I absolutely knew I would eventually see this picture when I made my post.
  8. I'm a huge Lewis Hamilton fan (now). He's always been a great dude (starting yesterday)!
  9. Quadruple breasted, because double breasted isn't fast enough for him.
  10. I rarely interact with Michigan or Ohio State fans in real life. It would be much worse for, say, A&M and OU to win it back-to-back.
  11. There were lots of Texas fans down there that night. The tower was a central point, being in the middle of campus, being lit for victory, and also immediately adjacent to The Drag where tons of people were congregating. Many impromptu renditions of "The Eyes" broke out all around, and I probably participated in one or more of them standing at the base of the Tower. But at no point was anyone singing TO the Tower. That's just some pure made up shit from a complete dork who is obviously embarrassed that his school is widely viewed as a cult, or at the very least, a bunch of loser weirdos.
  12. At night!!!! Yup. They light the tower orange after every victory. But there was no #1 on it that night.
  13. One day on team Ferrari and he's already dressing 1000x better.
  14. Light snow in NW Travis County right now. It's accumulating and sticking on neighborhood roads. Not sure about major roads, won't know until dawn.
  15. I'm the opposite, I actually intensely dislike the flavor of masa in chili, totally ruins the bowl for me. When using the rehydrated chile method, the chile skins themselves provide tons of thickening, which is another reason I prefer the rehydrated chile method to using powders.
  16. NIL and revenue sharing/direct pay-for-play are not the same thing. There's nothing any school, conference, or the NCAA can do, to "burn down NIL." They can't violate state laws.
  17. Go half and half. Half with queso, half with gravy. Best of both worlds.
  18. Hey, the existence of David Ash led to this, so he'll always be okay in my book:
  19. Go home, GEM, you're drunk!
  20. Heh, my kids don't actually have any particular affinity for Houston or Dallas, they're just jealous of the snow. Well that's not entirely true, they equate Dallas with the State Fair and TX-OU weekend, so they love it for that. They've only been to Houston a couple of times but on one of those trips, we took them to NASA, and my aerospace engineer friend who works there, got us onto the actual floor of Mission Control and they got to chat with the Flight Director, so they think that's really cool, too. Otherwise they love the Austin area and prefer it. That is, until... Snow Day.
  21. Nope. Not if they're already on campus or have even already committed to Texas. Gotta be shinier and newer.
  22. Oh come on man, you know Texas fans. Always enthralled with the idea of anything shiny and new.
  23. Ha! They just love a snow day. They even loved Snowmageddon 2021 and Icepocalypse 2023. Because they got to miss school.
  24. I have no idea what someone might be protesting on dirty 6th, but anyone doing so probably deserves getting run over.
