  1. On a properly cooked brisket the lean should be tender, moist, and delicious. I vastly prefer lean over fatty brisket.
  2. Definitely a little heavy handed there, but it was still very satisfying. Rupert and Becks are definitely splitting, and Rebecca and Becks are definitely going to have a drunken night of catharsis. As mentioned above, we can all hope that this drunken night also somehow involves Sassy in a threesome.

  4. In unrelated news, I stumbled across this racing sim of Monza as it would have been for the Word Sportscar endurance race in 1966. It recreates the track configuration as it was setup then for the sportscar series for a few years in the late 60s, utilizing both the oval and the road course. I knew they did this but could never really picture how it worked. But following a few laps of this, I can now see it clearly. And, I now wish I'd been born 30 years earlier. In Italy, I guess. Anyway, I just thought it was really cool to see the track in that configuration.
  5. Yeah for me it's probably more like 85% but even at 75 it would be better than what has ended up happening. And I, too, liked the idea. Until I saw the way it was carried out in practice.
  6. Holeeeschit Just finished the race, still not sure about what I just watched.. I really can't believe the multiple red flags, especially the one at the end, and how it all ended, but I also think it would have been criminal for Fred NOT to have maintained his position. Rules, man. Or, not rules. Or, whatever that was.
  7. 3-2-1 should get you there easily. 3 hours on the smoke at 225 and the meat will definitely be pulling back off the bone.
  8. And reintroduce refueling. Variability. And eliminate all technical regs other than safety regs. Variability.
  9. I've got news for the guy who thinks they got any respect for playing a depleted North Carolina team in the Orange Bowl during the COVID year that everyone completely dismisses as an * season...
  10. Yup I definitely can't comment on that, I've never had it.
  11. I haven't had Terry Black's in Lockhart. Terry Black's in Austin is better than anything in Lockhart-- other than Black's.
  12. Well, my kids aren't exactly "free" but they do wash and wax the boat without me paying them, if they want to be invited along to ski and surf.
  13. Come on man, there will be plenty of time to bitch about the Austin heat. Now, is not that time. This is a pretty darn decent outlook going out almost halfway through April. 76 degrees on Easter Sunday is pretty nice. I won't comment on the predicted rain, since I expect it will never rain in Austin again, anyway.
  14. Well he ain't no Kimi that's for sure, but apparently he still knows what he's doing!
  15. Agree, I don't use it because I consider it to be just as childish and stupid as "t.u." and I'm better than them.
  16. Yeah, the moment I read the first bit I was thinking, "only if they actually enforced it!"
  17. Completely agree with the above. Every season I watch at least a couple of races and try to get back into this series. I really enjoyed seeing them at COTA in 2019 and came away very impressed with the amount of performance they get out of the cars given their budgets compared to a series like Formula 1. But the boneheaded crashes are just inevitable and really spoil the sport for me. There are just too many bad drivers. If they can't fill the field with quality drivers, then they should just limit the field. I assume that economically, that's not feasible for the sport and they need all of that participation, but if it ends up leading to diminished attendance and viewership, then is it really working in their favor?
  18. Shoulda come yesterday instead. It barely hit 65 at my house, and the forecast high is 70 today. Temps look like they come down into the mid-upper-70s by the end of next week, that's some nice, cool April weather.
  19. Those are Euro-centric leagues that don't travel to flyaway races, as far as I know. Or, at least, they don't travel to North America. They do have other support races at COTA, things like the Porsche Cup or Ferrari Challenge. They had the W Series race before that league folded, and now I think the new women's league that is also Euro-centric, WILL be coming to COTA in 2023. I think that's posted somewhere upthread. In 2021 they also had F4 which is an open wheels league on the American branch of feeders into Formula 1 (rather than targeted at Indycar), and that was fun, but they didn't come back in 2022 because they couldn't book enough time and had to run very short practice and race sessions, at too much cost. Instead, they came on their own a couple of weekends later so they could run more sessions at their own leisure.

The house I grew up in is two blocks away, across Burnet. My parents still live there. Many a non-rememberable night started at Trudy's, moved to Buddy's Place, and then... ???????

We used to do a dive crawl from Buddy's Place, to Lala's, to the Poodle Dog, to Ginny's Little Longhorn. You can hit all kinds of greatness on the #3 bus.
