  1. The failures are due to some individual cells in the pack. Many of them get repaired by 3rd parties to use as things such as home battery systems. The functioning packs that age down their capacity are directly used for other purposes with lower performance requirements. The fully failed packs are recycled with 90-95% content recovery. So, still lower environmental impact than traditional vehicles that go to the crusher. The most common complaint I've heard about the Kia/Hyundai company is how terrible their dealerships are. My friends attest the same. It's a shame given how good some of their products seem.
  2. I find an unwelcoming aspect of F1 spectating is how much information relevant to the competition is hidden beneath the surface and how little of it surfaces in broadcast TV. If you watch just the race alone, you'll witness a handful of overtaking, and conclude how good drivers are based on the results table. Maybe the commentators will remark on a parts upgrade, or they'll share a snippet of the radio messages here or there. 95% of the juicy stuff has to be gleaned from interviews with driver and team, and in the multiplexing premium F1 stream. Like, Charles finished a respectable P6, but he was told throughout the ENTIRE race to lift and coast. Hamilton was told a similar thing until his breaks failed. There are lots of corner-specific instructions that explains why someone went fast or slow or got passed and you'll just assume a driver is good/bad and never learn the true reason from broadcast or even reading recaps.
  3. 84*/74% is higher heat index than Houston noon today. Add that to a 140* cockpit under a firesuit. George said he lost something like 8-10 lbs of weight due to sweat. This is the same as an MMA fighter does on their last day of weight cutting, where they're literally draped under blankets and biking in sweat suits to the point near exhaustion.
  4. Getting 300Mbit internet service on an intercontinental flight is fucking incredible. Starlink is amazing.
  5. Bucees have one for 6.99. Its orange but you can probably just strip that paint down to the metal.
  6. The airline entertain systems that make you watch their repetitive ads when you start watching any in-flight programming.

  11. is Texas getting shellacked by DJ Lagway better or worse than Penn State getting clobbered by Nico Ianalover?

  14. If you regularly drive a 18 wheeler around loaded full of cargo, and then drive it unattached to any trailer whatsoever…will it feel like you gained 1000 horsepower or whatever.
  15. A Syrian-Brit who: -is literally named Jiad Al-Shamie -sent death threats to a conservative British politician -has had a string of other convictions -was literally out on bail on a rape charge… stabbed a bunch of Jews to death at a synagogue in Manchester. who could have seen that coming? (not Brian Fantana, because doing so would have been racist).
  16. Buying pastries to coerce people into showing up for work at 7am is some devious shit.
  17. When you reverse into a spot, youre reversing into a spot. When you pull forward into a sport, youll later have to reverse into traffic.
  18. Goddamn automatic paper towel dispenser that only feeds out 2 inches at a time.
  19. Im migrating my parents internet credentials onto a single password manager from multiple notebooks of semi-archaic scribbling, and you wouldnt believe the shit i had to untangle. half their passwords are invalid. most accounts are duplicated. all of them are crosswired with eachothers phone numbers and personal information. some accounts are linked to dead emails, the other are linked to literally made-up emails. i suppose the upside is, if someone ever stole the physical notebooks, they still couldnt access the accounts
