  1. FVV's stats and efficiency have declined a bit this year and he will be 31 in the offseason, so I'm not to keen on that number unless it's a 1+1 with a team option. I don't think other teams will offer him more than 25m a year on a deal of 2-3 years. De'aaron fox is making 34 and 37 million this year and next, and people are worried about that being too much. FVV is nowhere near the offense generator he is and is much older. I like him, but I don't like him for that price, as they are now graduating the guys like Green and Sengun to much more expensive deals.
  2. I would bet 2025 Bregman has a higher OPS and WRC+ than Paredes, but I think they swap in 2026 and Paredes takes the lead by a lot in 2027 and beyond.
  3. Yeesh, that seems like way too much for him. He got 2 years and about 84m so far, which is probably an overpay of 34m for his talent. I thought they would have a bit more goodwill saved up to get to a better deal than that for the future. It also makes me want them to go get another point guard with all those expiring contracts and get some leverage on the situation.
  4. I think the Blue Jays are under some pressure right now because they have Vlad and Bichette's contracts ending after this year. They need to re-sign both of them and probably need to make a significant competitive leap this year to entice them to extend. Their payroll is already at ~240 million this year (the most in team history), so adding another 30m for Bregman may be tough, but I would imagine they are pushing for some deferment of money like they did with Santander. Figure in the excessive taxes of living in Toronto vs most other cities, and they have to overpay quite a bit to make a contract of similar value to what the Astros offered Bregman. Also, isn't Bregman's wife from Houston? I wonder how much she figures into this decision.
  5. Even if they don't sign Bregman, at least they are keeping his contract floor value high for whoever does sign him. I think every team he has been associated with has been an AL opponent like the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Tigers. Make someone else overpay so much that they regret that contract in a couple years and it will be worth it. I just saw the Jays contract with Santander and WOW, 5 years $92.5 million, 61.75m deferred, plus some options that can add a 6th year for 15m. Ooooof, but mission accomplished. Good to see the Astros didn't overpay for him. If you need something to get excited about, the Astros have this dude under control for 3 more years, and he's only 25:
  6. I think it would be incredibly short sighted to sit on 40m in expiring deals and not make a move. They have plenty of future picks to use, and they can't keep everyone, not do they have the minutes. The core of this team is pretty well solidified, but it's not perfect. There is room to improve, and they could add a good 3pt shooter without losing anyone in the current rotation. Reed needs time to develop, he's not going to be the sharpshooter they need this year. This team positioned itself with lots of trade chips, and I think they should use some instead of letting them expire this off-season. This is our last year of cheap Sengun and Green, so if there is a way to get a good player for essentially junk contracts and future picks, they should try and make a move. Maxey isn't going anywhere, he's a foundation piece that you build around. I think some realistic options would be gettable are Walker Kessler, DeRozan, Chris Boucher, Cam Johnson, Olynyk, Valanciunas and Jordan Clarkson. All those guys are on teams going no where and looking for picks and expiring contracts. Getting a C that can help with time protection would probably help with some of the bigger teams in the playoffs, and another scorer off the bench would be good to have. It also helps insulate the team against injuries and adding depth.
  7. Ugghhhh, the issue isn't the length of games, it's the length of the season. Most of your own damn players don't care enough to try and play more than 72 games a season, because they get bored or feel it's somewhat irrelevant.
  8. Do Spurs fans want him as Wembys sidekick? I think his stats and efficiency will bounce back on a new team with a better environment. The Spurs always seem to get more out of their guys, I think going from Sac to SA would be a huge help to him.
  9. Reports are coming out now that De'aaron Fox is available in trade, but his agent is Rich Paul, and they have indicated he prefers to go to the Spurs. They are open to other teams too, but we have seen how that has played out for his other clients in the past. Fox is making 34m this year and 37m next, which makes him gettable with some smaller pieces+picks, but I'm not sure this team really needs him. I think the Rockets need to be in that bidding process to run up the cost for the Spurs or whoever gets him, but I don't know if he's the right guy for this team. I feel like this team would get him a lot better shots and improve his efficiency quite a bit, making his decline this year moot. If they wanted to try and get him, they could do a package like this to send out the salary needed without touching the core of this team. Need to attach probably 3-4 future FRPs to go with it, but the Rockets have plenty of those. You could also throw in Adams and swap Fox for Sabonis if the Kings really want to blow it all up, but that would cost a lot more. I'm not sure what the Kings are doing, because they have a lot of assets, and they won't be getting anyone that helps them win-now in return for Fox.
  10. The team has several contracts to work with to improve the roster: Adams 12.6m Landale 8m Jeff Green 8m Tate 7.565m Holiday 4.66m That's up to 40m to work with in expiring/non-guaranteed contracts that will be attractive to any team looking to drop future salary. None of those impact your top 8 rotational players either, so why not go make a move with that and a late 1st to get another player? It doesn't have to be a big swing like Jimmy Butler, it could be a rotational player or 3 point shooter to help add some depth.
  11. The World Cup 2022 featured in-ball sensors to help with the exact position of the ball in addition to VAR. It's called "connected ball technology." They also use it for offsides calls and to determine which player last touched a ball before it goes out of bounds. It's pretty nifty technology, and seems exactly like the sort of thing the NFL needs.
  12. I'm sure a multibillion dollar company can pay some nerds to figure it out. They should be able to combine the location of the ball on the field with the replay cameras so a guy in a booth can pinpoint the instant the runner's knee is down, and know where the ball goes. Relay that to some on-field tech in the sideline markers and make it extremely accurate. This really shouldn't be the debate though, the tech isn't hard to figure out. It's about getting the calls right and removing as much human error (or favoritism) from the equation as possible. Again, other sports use this technology to know exactly if a ball barely grazed a line, or if a soccer ball crossed into the goal after getting kicked a million times by world class athletes that can leg press 1000 pounds. The NFL should care more about the perception of their product, and work to alleviate the claims that there is foul play.
  13. Some great analysis of Amen and Tari playing some stifling defense. Gotta love the personality of this team right now, defense wins championships, and they certainly have plenty of it. Comparing these guys to E. Honda is high praise, but apt, as they are constantly engaged and hunting for steals. Of the Cavs few losses this year, the 2 to ATL, 1 to OKC and 2 to Houston were all because of long armed wings giving their shooters fits. The Cavs win shootouts without much sweat, but the tougher, high energy defenses have been their kryptonite. It bodes well for the Rockets playoff chances this year, but also for the future, as Fred is the only key free agent on this team, and with the way Amen is playing, he soon won't be needed.
  14. WTF was the Online doing???
  15. I still can't believe that wasn't ruled an incompletion. It's such a blatantly bad call going the Chiefs way, you have to wonder if the NFL cares at all about damaging its brand and reputation with this dumb shit.
  16. It hit the ground and also changed possession on the same grab! It's a magic catch!
  17. This article explains it in detail, but the movie did change a lot of what really happened between them. This movie makes the first night seem much more dramatic and chaotic than what really happened by compressing a ton of storylines. However the choices keep the story moving and make for an enjoyable viewer experience. Hopefully no one is too sore about the changes. https://screenrant.com/saturday-night-live-johnny-carson-lorne-michaels-true-story/
  18. The Hard Hats skit is still hilarious.
  19. He looked pretty happy in those clips, and the whole team coming to help him up looked good. Are we done with the "Cam is unhappy" bullshit storyline? He looks engaged in this lineup, and I'm still surprised he dropped to 20th in the draft. He was said to be the steal of the draft by many of the prognosticators.
  20. Wild Robot was one of the best animated films I have seen in a while. It's well worth a watch regardless of your age. So much fun, my kids and I loved it. Inside Out 2 was a touching story and so well done. The way they write the emotions into the plot as characters, and show how they affect the girl is a great illustration of how to deal with emotions. It's a good story with a lot of positive and relatable aspects to it. I would be happy to see either win best Animated picture, but I think Flow will get it. Flow has an interesting style of animation that stands out from the rest. It's a bit cartoonish, almost like a video game, but still beautiful in its own way. I enjoyed watching it, and I think the dialogue-less story will appeal to Oscar voters over the others.
  21. Pete Crow Armstrong would be a good swap. We need an OF, they need a closer, so it's a clear win-win scenario. Could throw in Jon Singleton to sweeten the deal.
  22. Totally the same!
