  1. I always find it interesting how many times someone has been nominated/won in the past. I think to make it more entertaining, they should have a baseball style stat line for each of the nominees showing their past performance in Wins-Noms. It would add another element of suspense knowing how many times everyone has been up for one before.
  2. Dune kicked ass, saw it in IMAX and loved it. I plan on seeing part 3 in IMAX too. Alien Romulus was pretty entertaining, worth a watch if you're into sci-fi. Better Man probably hasn't been seen by many, as it flopped pretty hard, but it was a good film. A somewhat different take on the music biopic style. It was a lot of fun, lots of catchy tunes and musical numbers, but also some real depressing bits. It's a bit of a rollercoaster, as the ominous issues with his father are always lurking in the background. I didn't know who Robbie Williams was before watching it, but I still enjoyed it.
  3. That's so dumb, because the version with Erivo and Grande is so much better than the one on Broadway. They recorded the song for the movie, it would make sense to allow a new rendition to be eligible. Too bad, they deserve it over the rest of the nominees in that category.
  4. Wait, Defying Gravity wasn't nominated for best song? What the fuck? That was the best song moment of any of the major nominees. What a huge miss to not include it and then make that your opening act.
  5. Bernie isn't even a democrat now, he has mostly identified as an independent, except for when he ran as a D in 2016. He knows about helping the working class, the little guys, and he would have absolutely beat the shit out of Trump in 2016 if not for the Democrats party leader fuckery. The whole country would be so much better had he won in 2016, even if he didn't run for re-election in 2020. I know Democrat ideals would include those programs to help them, but if you want to break the spells of Fox News and rotten Facebook feeds, you have to go beat them over the head with it. And you need to do that right now when they are vulnerable, because it's the only time they will possibly listen to alternatives. That's when some of them may question themselves and look for another solution. I just think about the Hakeem Jeffries quote of "you don't swing at every pitch" but ya know, maybe it's time to get in the fucking batters box? These people are going to be reeling for a few years, and unless the Trump administration commits to send them 10s of billions again, it isn't going to get better before the next election.
  6. Right, but the rule, I believe, is that any player retains their drafted round status regardless. That wat you can't reset guys from early rounds to the 10th round via waivers.
  7. I know it's fun for us in the peanut gallery to point and laugh, but I would love to see some big names democrats courting farmers to come to their side right now. Talk about how important farming is to this country, it is literally our country's roots. Guarantee strong farming legislation to help ensure all crops are bought and made use of somewhere in the world. Reiterate support for USAID purchases and the common good they provide domestically and abroad. Increase tax breaks for small farms under a certain size, etc etc. What if they could flip Iowa, Kansas or Nebraska for a few cycles? These sorts of cataclysmic changes in politics can lead to odd realignments, and in this case could result in the Dems becoming the party of Farmers if they try. The Rs are already buying all the big money and corporate votes the can via tax breaks and the dismantling of oversight agencies, might as well use the purse to try and lock up other groups if possible.
  8. Incident is likely going to win an Oscar tonight. It's an incredibly well done combination of many camera angles of a police shooting in real time. It's absolutely disgusting to watch how these asshole lie to protect themselves and make them feel better about instigating a situation that led to a man's death. Spoiler alert: guy is on the street for 10 minutes bleeding out and zero cops provide any first aid. Just disgusting. https://youtu.be/oW65ChIjur4?si=ux4otumgzor1RrWW
  9. I thought that only applies to undrafted players. Like you can't draft a guy in the 4th round, drop him, and then someone else picked him up and keeps him for a 10th. That would be crazy.
  10. Drill Baby Drill! Oh no, not there... So how much of a loss is this to Chevron, like 20 million in revenue per day? Sure seems like a huge hit out of nowhere.
  11. It says she's real on the hand written paper, so it has to be real.
  12. This will never get old:
  13. I think he would go to the Lakers or Warriors if he gets bought out. He might come here, but I don't see the Rockets as all that attractive of an option for him if he wants a ring.
  14. Poor Scotty, he just can't catch a break. Losing Kristen Kreuk in a publicly humiliating way, and now this. RIP
  15. I mean, I would take as many as I could for free. But then I would have them self-drive off a cliff like a herd of lemmings.
  16. We need some more IR spots next year... lol I saw Durdy picked up Wemby. Maybe he knows something I don't know, but I don't think he's coming back this season. I had to drop Gafford too, because he won't be back before our Fantasy league ends. My team was very healthy all year, up until the last few weeks, when I lost 3-5 Centers, and now I am turbo fucked. Wemby - Chris Bosh disease. Gafford - broken leg. Poeltl - hip cancer. John Collins - spine made of plastic. Valanciunas - traded to the kings. Really really fucking unbelievable how 5 of my 6 C's just fall out of the sky all at once like they are all Boeing jets landing on the same runway. Those guys getting rebounds, high % shots and putting up Double Doubles kept me flying high all year, and now I'm down to a cockblocked J Val and Jaxon Hayes. At least with the bye, I have a chance at making 3rd place, but man, what a fall. Guess I'm getting in on the Bismack Biyombo bandwagon now... furk.
  17. I bet $750 right now would go a long ways....
  18. The Hurt Locker over Avatar was dumb. James Cameron made a cinematic masterpiece using 3D technology, and made the only movie ever worth seeing with those shitty glasses. The amount of effort that went into making that film was tremendous using 3D cameras and tons of motion capture. It made such an incredible viewing experience, and he absolutely deserved Best Director that year.
  19. I kind of disagree. This is the beginning of the storm, we have 3.9 more years of this shit (hopefully...). They need these cuts to hurt those who voted for Trump, Elon, Rs and the like to feel the pain and harden them against the GOP for the future elections. This shit isn't going to be fixed in 2026/28, it will take at least a decade to rebuild what they are tearing down. We aren't even in midterm campaign territory yet, and the Dems only hope in the immediate future is to win a few special elections in very red districts. Probably not happening. They need a lot of Rs and Independents to realize how much they and their families rely on government programs, contracts and agencies. Only then will they think twice about the "drain the swamp" slogans.
  20. Please sir, don't fire MY daughter! She got there on her own merits! Lol... These idiots still don't realize the DEI stuff is just a bullshit catch-all to cover what they are doing. Anyone who remotely falls in that category will be cut if they aren't necessary to the cause. All they want is sycophants in high positions to make way for the real change that's going to happen in the next few years.
