  1. "Bregman had offers of 6 years/$171.5 million (opt-out after 2026) from Detroit, and 4 years/$120 million (opt-outs after 2026 & 2027) from the Cubs, per sources," Feinsand said. "The higher AAV combined with the opt-outs after each of the next two years were the key to him taking the Boston deal." It also was reported heavily that the Astros offered Bregman a six-year deal worth $156 million. https://www.si.com/mlb/red-sox/boston-red-sox-news/alex-bregman-contract-details-red-sox-star-declined-3-other-offers-pat3 So the Tigers did offer a bit more with 1 one more year, but with unspecified deferments. Cubs offer was reasonable, and probably better than the Astros overall. The notion that his market was cold or underwhelming appears to be wrong. He wasn't getting 200m like he had hoped, but this is still really good money for him at 30m+ per year. I can't really blame him for leaving, but will miss him. Fare well Bregman.
  2. No Fred and they still pull it off. Just think if they had found a way to turn Fred+filler and picks to get KD on this team. He's absolutely the killer shooter this team is missing. Maybe they can swing a trade for him next year, it would be fun.
  3. No, just do a set hard cap and stop with all this apron and exceptions nonsense. Every team has up to 200m to spend, and every dollar under it is cap space. If you need more space, send a bad contract to some other team to make room. The trade deadline would be even more amazing if it weren't for all these stupid matching rules.
  4. It just seems pointless to me. RJ, Scottie and BI with that supporting cast is worth maybe a 7-10 seed in the East. If they are stacking salary for a bigger trade, who is gonna want BI at 40m a year? Just doesn't make sense to me, treadmill team is exactly what this is with no expectations to get better. Siakam would have been a valuable asset on an extension, BI is nowhere near as attractive of an asset. It's truly unbelievable that the Raptors won a ring. I mean, they needed several catastrophic injuries to the other team to do it, but still, they have been middling team every year since, and pretty much their entire existence before that.
  5. He is a real cheap option for a team acquiring him, unlike Diggs was last year. I think the team getting him would pay around 7 million for 1 year, while the 49ers would incur a lot of dead cap. The dead cap hits are their own fault though, they converted a ton of salary and bonuses to open up space in previous years, so that's all sunk costs for them. I don't know what the asking price is for him, since he's a 1 year rental but fairly cheap, but if a 3rd round pick gets it done, I would go for that.
  6. Toronto is making a splash! Brandon Ingram agrees to 3-year, $120M extension with Raptors
  7. This Cavs/Wolves game is great. 22-3 with 3 minutes left in the 1st. Twolves are 0-15 from the floor. Might be a record or something.
  8. I just checked ESPN and saw this headline, then laughed out loud. As soon as the Mavs started saying the issue with Luka was "conditioning" and "availability," I thought that bullshit would come bite them in the ass eventually. I did not expect that Karma to hit them this quickly though. It's bananas that they took on his contract in lieu of paying Luka.
  9. Sorry just catching up and reading random posts about the halftime show, but I think I know who would be a good compromise and please everyone on both sides for next year: Macklemore
  10. Lol, fucking unbelievable.
  11. Yeah, there are some promising young guys that will get some more playing time now. With Lavine out of the way, I expect Buzelis to get a lot more playing time and stats. Risarcher should get more time with Hunter being sent to Cleveland. My main concern for my team is that Valanciunas got sent to Sac in a trade, and he will be fighting with Sabonis for rebounds the rest of the year, which hurts me in that category and DDs. Gonna be tough to replace that production at this point in the season.
  12. Nurkic is supposedly a buyout candidate, he would be a nice consolation prize if the Lakers want him.
  13. The Cavs got DeAndre Hunter for a handful of 2nds and some average players. He was exactly what this team needed, a near 40% 3pt shooter, a tall defensive wing, he would have fit right in. Cam Johnson also would have been a huge upgrade on offense, but instead of turning 20m of expiring players that aren't the least bit necessary for this team, we get to let it expire and lose all those trade chips. Just dumb of them to not flip some of that into a top 6 rotation guy.
  14. Abbott came out a couple days ago saying he supports sports betting in Texas. A huge about face for him, and the timing is really really suspicious. Maybe Luka really did die for the legalization of our sins? If that does go through in the next legislative session, that should satisfy the team owners and allow them to build their super duper casino and NBA complex. However, unless they start winning a bunch with AD, I don't know who all is going to visit.
  15. Time for Mavs fans to start a new movement: Antifo, Anti-Front Office
  16. Feel free to post any evidence of corruption that they have found. So far all I have seen is that they think USAID subscribing to multiple news outlets is somehow wrong, because they don't seem to understand that big companies tend to subscribe to lots of services so their employees have access.
  17. It's a really good skit.
  18. Every time I hear about this guy my head immediately starts singing "The bones are their money!" From the I Think You Should Leave show.
  19. Oh no! But everybody really liked him!
  20. 7 years 156 million?
  21. What does Zeller do that Landale can't? Seems like a worthless pickup, when they could have tried to get a scorer like Cam Johnson. KD was probably never gonna happen, but they need someone that can hit 3s at a decent clip.
  22. But all that defense leads to fouls. It's gonna be sad when OKC loses round 2 to the Lakers, while Luka and Bron combine for 35+ free throws a game...
