Butler, to me is our most powerful hitter and best blocker, but she sits

Texas will live and die with its left side hitters....that’s been Jerritt’s M.O. since he’s been here.  And that’s ok as long as he puts the best hitters on the pins.

With the available players this season, Butler should have been playing on the left side with Eggleston...put the biggest leaper in gym on the left side who touches 11 feet and can hit over the blocks (like Hooker and Webster).

Keep Fields on the right pin and let Phillips (her most natural position) and O’Neal patrol the middle.  Molly is a great blocker on the right pin, but she doesn’t have the arm to consistently terminate from that side of the net...plus she showed she can hold down the middle when Butler was out with injury last year.  Elliott’s offense will never run through its middle blockers...he just needs them to be serviceable offensively but be strong blockers defensively. 🥺

If the 6’3 Opposite hitter (Malual) from Italy actually makes it to Texas next spring, that will actually help out the left side hitters because she is used to terminating high balls from the right pin.

Butler has the physicality, but not the fluidity, to be a pin hitter, it seems to me.

No one said anything about it last night on social media, or the Texas Sports recap, but we did lock up at least co-championship of the Big 12 and the AQ for the April tournament, as we hold the tiebreaker over Baylor.

We'd have to lose the last 3 matches (West Virginia, TCUx2) and Baylor would have to sweep the rest of their schedule (KSU next weekend) to finish tied.

I really still don't know how seeding will work for the tournament, with SEC, AXCC and Big12 playing in the fall, and B1G/PAC playing in the spring.  It shouldn't preclude us from a top 4 seed though.

At this point, the only fair thing to do is give the P5 champs the top 5 seeds (?)

Texas, Kentucky, probably Tree, probably Wisconsin, probably Georgia Tech/ND

It’s official for Shook - Washington. Playing beach.

She should be able to play beach in the spring (uncounted year), indoor in the fall (with her extra COVID year if she wants) and beach in spring of 22
