December 24, 2025Dec 24 I’ve got one of those. Think I’m going something a little heavier and a little ryrier.
December 25, 2025Dec 25 Specs drop is Monday. And there are already 6 fucking idiots in line in Irving.People suck. So much.
December 25, 2025Dec 25 Specs drop is Monday. And there are already 6 fucking idiots in line in Irving.People suck. So much. For that?! What is wrong with people?
December 25, 2025Dec 25 For that?! What is wrong with people?Exactly. I get the fact some people just like the “hunt” and camaraderie of hanging out for whiskey, but to spend almost a fucking week in a parking lot for that mid collection is just fucking stupid. I hope it fucking rains. A lot.
December 25, 2025Dec 25 If I can get a Buffalo Trace store pick, Sazerac 100, Sazerac 125, and an Old Forester Rye Barrel Proof from the pick ‘em table, I’ll leave with a smile.
December 25, 2025Dec 25 Willet picks and the Michters BP rye are the one ones that even strike interest
December 25, 2025Dec 25 Hard pass on the specs line, but loved these pear cinnamon syrup old fashioneds with OF7.
December 26, 2025Dec 26 Interesting. I picked up a purple top willet and er10 from the total wine in sugar land. No limit, no line, no hassle, no more fucking bullshit.

December 28, 2025Dec 28 Sooooo many losers camped out at the bryker woods Spec’s tonight. At least they were having fun and opening bottles for eachother, but my goodness people… is there no better use of your time?!

I just can’t with people that get so defensive about something they know deep down is stupid. Have a good sense of humor and make fun of yourself. Instead they’re attempting to justify it with you can’t tell me how to spend my PTO and bourbon community camaraderie bullshit. You haven’t showered or taken a shit indoors in a week sirs. The Brewzle guy camped out for 3 days in Alabama, and the best bottle he purchased was Heaven Hill 90. Not exactly the same thing and he was doing it for his YouTube channel, but that’s 3 days he’ll never get back.

That being said I’ve had good luck walking up to the beverage commission stores about 30 minutes before they open on drop days. Edited December 28, 2025Dec 28 by Johnny Chimpo

I don’t really pity him as his side hustle is traveling all over the country on bourbon hunts.Glad you’ve had some luck. You’re getting jack shit in Houston if you show up at 10am.

December 29, 2025Dec 29 Less than 400 people in Irving as of 5am this morning. What a shift from last year when there was way over 1000. Bet Spec's didn't see this coming. Maybe this will cause them to rethink and maybe release shit during the year like every other fucking retailer.

Their single barrel and store pick program has fallen off tremendously. It’s difficult to dial it in if you only make picks once a year, and if you’re making dozens of picks at the same time.
December 29, 2025Dec 29 It wouldn't surprise me if they were just picking random barrels and not even tasting them at this point.
December 29, 2025Dec 29 It’s so frustrating knowing they sit on these cases all fucking year just to ship them out to three stores.
December 29, 2025Dec 29 44 minutes ago, Yev Kassem said:It’s so frustrating knowing they sit on these cases all fucking year just to ship them out to three stores.Yep. I was about 40th in line for Heaven Hill 90 on some random Friday a few weeks ago. They gave out 36 bottles. If they put out 1 or 2 more cases, I get a bottle comfortably. Similar results for 1924 and Thirteenth Colony Cask Strength Double Oaked.
December 29, 2025Dec 29 I drove by the Austin location early afternoon thinking I’d stop by if the line was dwindling and see what was left. At 1:00 still wrapped 2/3 around the building. So I noped right on out. Happy for any of y’all that braved the crowd though.
December 29, 2025Dec 29 4 hours ago, Party_Taco said:lol so there’s no limit? Makes even less sense to stand on line…Limit went off at 3pm. My buddy got in line at about 130pm in Houston. Limit goes off while he’s in the store and ended up a case of Weller 12 and the ER10 picks.I stayed pretty disciplined at still spent $500+. Handle of a BT pick, Saz 90 pick, Issac Bowman pick, KC21, and a Blanton’s Gold. They were out of ErR and W12 when I got in line at 4pm. Edited December 29, 2025Dec 29 by billfromlaketravis
December 30, 2025Dec 30 Some dickbag in Irving grabbed the last 6 cases of Blanton’s Gold when they said no limit.

December 30, 2025Dec 30 I’m pretty happy about the KC21. It was the only bottle that I was surprised to see. I loved the 15, and 21’s reviews are pretty stellar.Really odd nobody would touch it ahead of me in line. It sells for $220 at Spec’s and secondary is currently about $400. That’s a tidy profit for a flipper, but I guess the initial investment is too high. The pick ‘em table was trash this year. Every single bottle on the table was on the shelf the day before. Their store pick prices are shameful. Woodford Double Oak for $101 was particularly egregious.

December 31, 2025Dec 31 Is there any buzz out there for a JD SiBBP store pick? Specs had a great one in 2021. I bought every bottle I could find and drank all of them. Spec’s and Total Wine are near me. Goody Goody and Twin are reasonable drives. Houston guys, any good local picks at smaller stores?
12 hours ago12 hr Kicking in the New Year with this puppy. Picked it up at the Specs drop. It is excellent.

Blanton’s is a cool $90-95 now.I still think ER is a good buy at $50, but I won’t buy another bottle of Blanton’s or ETL unless I’m forced to in a bundle situation. Weller 12 and Antique have been $50 for several years. They priced ER12 well. I believe it’s the same price as ER10. The new cask strength Sazerac rye is supposed to be under $50. BT is kind of a mixed bag on MSRP. I bought a bottle of Blanton’s for $70 two months ago and was happy to do it, but that’s probably close to max I’d pay for it. If it was always available to me at that price I’d probably always have a bottle on the shelf, but I think I’d still burn through a lot more OF 1910 at $55.

I got it for less than that at the Buffalo Trace distillery. I know a lot of folks say it's not good, but it's always been one of my favorites.
