I'm not saying she was ever Aretha or Janis, but she was a damn fine singer & performer in the early No Doubt days.  Now I can't recognize her or her music, it's as if everything has been run through the polishing machine a half dozen times.  Yuck.

Funny, but this past weekend I dialed up No Doubt’s Return of Saturn, as I remember listening to it a lot around 2000 or so, but hadn’t played it in a couple decades. My God, her vocals are fucking awful. I think the polishing has helped.

Still meh.  She's just not a good vocalist.  I mean, it was fine for the No Doubt sound.  Lots of 90s bands in the post-grunge era had average to bad vocalists.

Buckcherry is my submission for this thread.  I legitimately enjoy a fair amount of their catalog.

Early 00's Douchebag Rock is having a bit of a comeback.  Creed of course, Buckcherry, Hoobastank, etc. I wasn't much of a fan then but now?  Guess I've turned in to a DB.  (I blame this board.)

I can't stand Creed and Hoobastank at all in any kind of setting.

But Buckcherry was way more directly influenced by the Stones, Guns N Roses, etc.  They were all about sex, drugs, and rock and roll and not thinking you were God.

when that "i love the cocaine" song came out i thought it was the black crowes. had that album back in the day and discovered it again last year while going through old cd's. there are a couple decent songs but it's largely pretty bad.

I took a photo trip to shoot some football games in the Maryland/DC area way back at the end of the previous millennium, the last time I ever took a plane trip anywhere. I was hosted by a friend who let me use their car to get around for a week, at least to the light rail and such to go to my football games and the Smithsonian. I didn't want to mess with their car radio, which was set on a contemporary pop station. Not my usual thing, but it wasn't horrible compared to later times. This is one of the songs that was on repeat in their area, and I had to admit it was catchy.

It keeps coming back in movies, commercials and stuff. And you know, I still can't hate it. It's undeniably infectious.

I didn't know who it was then, but just recently made the mental connection that the artist, as most of you likely already know, is the son of Randy Bachman of BTO and The Guess Who.

I have finally relented to putting it in my vehicle's driving tunes USB drive with the hundreds of songs that don't suck from various periods.
