Pit Room has been okay my last two visits.  Last time I went, the Wagyu Beef Rib was the tits.

The brisket had been a little overdone and was dry.

This has been my experience as well.

Thanks fellas. I assume moist brisket and the beef sausage is the way to go at Pit Room?

Thanks for the recs guys. I’d be careful at the Pit Room Memorial. I wanted 2 dino bones for the dogs. I got one hall of fame beef rib and the other was pretty lean, not much meat, and dry.

Moist brisket was point. Beef sausage was a little mushy, but mostly fine. It’s a small thing, but I hate their sauce.

I’d probably give it a B compared to its peers in Texas, but definitely an A- in Houston.

I haven’t been to the Richmond Ave location in ten years but my one visit to the Memorial location suuuuuuucked.

The much lauded chicken taco was greasy as hell. Brisket was dry and tasteless,

No thanks.

Best beef sausage in Houston? I’m talking City Market in Luling style.

luling city market

or just buy a case next time you're passing by city market

Got beat to shit at the Pit Room on Richmond today. $90 for two beef ribs. I love my dogs and they get months of use from the bone, but that’s goddamned ridiculous.

Beef sausage is good. Not Luling or Lockhart good, but great for Houston. Jalapeño cheese sausage is where it’s at. Got some venison too for later.

I’ll try to be gentle here. It can’t be easy to do halal bbq on high level, but Levant sucked shit. I liked the fried okra. The jalapeño cheese sausage was passable. The smoked lamb chops were dry and bland. The baklava was brittle, bland, and unsweet.

This isn’t a new restaurant working out th kinks. They’ve open about a year. It’s just a bad restaurant.

I’ll try any restaurant with lamb chops on the menu once.

Yeah, I had hoped it was going to be a positive net addition to the Houston BBQ scene, but the fact that I’ve seen absolutely zero buzz about it made me think twice about making a special trip out that way to try it.

Can somebody explain $15 for a chipped beef sandwich?! We’re talking about the trimmings from slicing brisket for by the pound and meat plate orders.

I was thinking about getting a sandwich at Feges last week and passed. Link: https://fegesbbq.com/greenway-plaza/#menu

Peter’s in Ellinger still charges $3.99. image.thumb.png.defd810daaea166928b9f1392624da9b.png

Other than their rent, what makes Feges’ sandwich $11 better than Peter’s?

these two places are less than a half mile apart, with j bar m less than a mile away. so dumb. j bar m has a lot of events and is set up for smaller live music shows, bbq is avg. willow is dumping lot of $$ into that building, and it's been on going for sometime. they nees to push the bar, hard. (the panadería across the street is good, never tried their tacos but their pan dulce is good). the eastbound spot has shitty parking. it's on at a busy 'point'

all are less than a mile from me, but i'll goto pinkeron's when i want bbq

Willow’s Smokehouse & Tavern
Pitmaster Willow Vilarreal and his partner Jasmine Barela will turn their pop-up into a brick-and-mortar restaurant at this new concept in the historic L.M. Greco building (4109 Mckinney). Expect all the Central Texas-style barbecue and sides the duo is known for, alongside burgers, wings, sandwiches, and bar bites. Pair them with cocktails, craft beer, micheladas, and a range of spirits.

“Ultimately we want this to be an environment where our neighbors will look forward to winding down their day, time and time again. Like Cheers but with Lone Stars and brisket sandwiches,” Villarreal explains.

Eastbound Barbecue
This project in the former East End Backyard space (1105 Sampson St.) unites Killen’s Restaurants alumni Ryan Penn, Ryan Powell, Luis Lopez, and Jake Granville. Already drawing crowds to pop-ups, the quartet is serving dishes such as rosemary salt-spiced brisket, Tex-Italian sausage, Cuban-style mojo pork, and soon-to-be-famous hatch chili mac & cheese lasagna.
