Yeah, but if Women's basketball was not down this season,  the B12 would not have three #2 Seeds.  It would be more likely the B12 would have one #2 Seed, one #3 Seed, and probably two #4 Seeds.

Agree that South Carolina is much, much, much better than 99% of the other teams. Still expect UConn to end up no lower than a #2 Seed.

The Big 12 has earned its reputation for the top half of the league (Texas, OU, Baylor, ISU).  All 4 of those teams can make deep runs.

Pretty much, yeah.

There's 3 games left for everyone.  Assume all favorites win their games, Texas finishes tied for 3rd in the Big 12 at 13-5 but holds the H2H over OU because we are 2-0 versus top seed ISU.

Texas would open the Big 12 tournament with #6 KU and then face Baylor in the semifinals.  We very likely lose that one (but who knows, we are playing very well).  But we still finish the season 9-3 since February 1, with the only losses to Baylor.  I don't think a Big 12 semifinals loss to Baylor would drop us a seed.

We are likely going to end up on Baylor's side regardless

  • All favorites win - Baylor is 2 and Texas is 3
  • Baylor beats ISU and Texas wins out, Baylor is 1 and Texas is 4
  • Baylor beats ISU and Texas loses to KU, Baylor is 1 and Texas is 4
  • Iowa State beats Baylor and Texas loses to KSU, Baylor is 2 and Texas is 4 (no semifinals rematch)

Would truly love to beat Baylor in the B12 tournament, that dog has been on our ankle way too long. The confidence boost would serve this team well in the NCAAs.
If Rori is playing at the high level she's capable of it certainly feels possible with the way the team has looked lately. I think Baylor is just so deep in our heads we just don't expect to win.

100% mental. Players like JAT, Warren, Ebo are just scared of Baylor.

This. Sure the traditional teams like SCe, Stanford, NC State, Louisville are still good. But so are UConn, Baylor, ISU, Texas, Michigan, Indiana, Arizona, Maryland. And now teams like LSU, GT, ND is back up, OU is actually good again

Theres more parity thanks to the COVID year and portal. It’s been a fun year to watch

Gotta disagree with both of you.  Watching B12 this year, there just isn't nearly as many stars.  Good defense, but average offensive talent.  And yet the B12 currently has three projected #2 Seeds...

Yeah, College Women's Basketball quality is down from previous years.

You’ve done nothing but 1.) contradict yourself and 2.) provide a vague claim with no evidence that still contradicts yourself.

So no, the quality isn’t down.  It’s actually the same as it’s always been.

Game 27: #11/12 Texas (20-6, 10-5 Big 12) vs TCU (6-18, 2-13 Big 12)

Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022 – 7:00 p.m. Central
Frank Erwin Center (16,540) – Austin, Texas

GameDay Quick Facts:
• TELEVISION: The game will be televised nationally on Longhorn Network. Tyler Denning (pxp) and Andrea Lloyd (analyst) will call the action.
• RADIO: 105.3 The Bat broadcasts every UT game on the statewide network. Roger Wallace (pxp) and Kathy Harston (analyst) will call the action. Check TexasSports.com for a listing of affiliates carrying the game.
• SERIES: Texas leads, 48-4. Last meeting: Texas 68-47 (Jan. 22 , 2022; Fort Worth).

LEADING IN: The No. 11/12 Texas Women's Basketball team will return home this Saturday (7 p.m. CT, LHN) as they play host to TCU inside the Erwin Center. The Longhorns are riding a five-game win streak entering Saturday's contest and are coming off of a 62-51 victory over on the road on Wednesday. The Horned Frogs are coming off of a 92-57 home loss to Oklahoma on Wednesday and have dropped 10-straight games entering Saturday's tilt.

THE SERIES: Texas and TCU will meet for the 53rd time overall on Saturday. The Longhorns own a 48-4 advantage over the Horned Frogs in the all-time series and are 9-1 in their last 10 meetings. Texas took down TCU 68-47 on the road in their first meeting of the season (Jan. 22).

MANHATTAN MILESTONE: With Wednesday's victory at Kansas State, second-year head coach Vic Schaefer secured his 9th-straight season with at least 20 wins dating back to 2013-14 season during his tenure as the head coach at Mississippi State. During that span, Schaefer has also had three teams eclipse the 30-plus win mark in a season.

THE SCHAEFER FORMULA: Longhorn head coach Vic Schaefer makes no secret in the way his teams have found success over the years. Relentless full court defensive pressure, attention to detail, and limiting turnovers and mistakes have been built in to the identity of his programs. The 2021-22 Longhorns are no different ranking among the best in the country in several defensive categories.  UT currently ranks No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 32 in the NCAA holding opponents to just 56.3 points per game. They also lead the league and rank No. 11 nationally in turnovers forced at 21.7 per contest and rank No. 6 in turnover margin at 6.77.

HITTING THEIR STRIDE: After dropping three-straight games from Jan. 29 – Feb.6 , the Longhorns have righted the ship as they've won five in a row and are playing some of their best basketball of the season down the stretch run of the regular season.

With three games remaining in the Big 12 regular season schedule, the Longhorns sit in a three-way tie for third place in the league standings with Oklahoma and Kansas at 10-5. Iowa State and Baylor share the top spot in the standings at 12-3.

SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS:  TCU has had a rough go of it during their 10-game skid as they enter play in last place in the Big 12 Conference standings and haven't recorded a victory since Jan.19 vs Texas Tech. The Horned Frogs rank No. 9 in the league offensively averaging just 61.3 points per contest while allowing 73.6 points per game on defense, which also ranks No.9 in the Big 12.

Senior guard Lauren Heard paces the team offensively and ranks No. 8 in the conference averaging 14.8 points per game. She also leads the team on the glass averaging 5.9 rebounds per game. Okako Adika is the team's second-leading scorer at 9.8 points per contest while Tavy Diggs is third at 6.7 points.

NEXT: Following Saturday's tilt, Texas will travel to Kansas for their final road contest of the regular season on Wednesday, March 2.  Tip is slated for 7 p.m. CT and will air nationally ESPN+. The Longhorns will conclude the regular season on Saturday, March 5, as they host Oklahoma State (1 p.m. CT, LHN) for Senior Day inside the Erwin Center.

This is an informative article as Vic and the players bemoan attendance for good reason.    Article should have been written much sooner.   CDC and company should be ashamed for lack of support.    Does he even attend games like the Baylor game, etc ?    (Excerpts,  article worth the read)

Over 13 games this season at the Erwin Center, Texas is averaging a crowd of 2,649. That's No. 37 nationally. The Erwin Center's capacity is 16,540.

Four Big 12 schools are averaging bigger crowds. And Texas trails 19 unranked teams. Texas Tech (4,635), Minnesota (3,166) and Wisconsin (2,867) all have losing records, and Arizona State (2,725) is 12-12.

"You've got a top-10 basketball team in your community, and you're not even in the top, whatever, in attendance. That's sad," Schaefer said. "It's very disappointing. It's frustrating for me as a coach. You know, these kids deserve better.

In recent years, fans have shown plenty of apathy toward women's sports at UT. Last November, volleyball coach Jerritt Elliott pointed out that his perennial powerhouse program had historically been unable to sell out 4,000-seat Gregory Gym for first- and second-round matches of the NCAA Tournament, and said, "We need to be able to do that."

As a department, Texas has seemingly skimped on the promotions for the UT women. There's been no "Party at the Tower" promised to the students. No mimosas have been given out at the women's games.

"A lot of times, our away games have way more fans than we do at home, which it's more fun when there's more fans," Holle said. "So a lot of times, the away games are more fun than the home games, which I don't think it should ever be like that."

In the aftermath of Schaefer's rant, a local reporter suggested that having football players in the crowd could draw in more fans. That led to starters DeMarvion Overshown, Xavier Worthy and Jake Majors pledging that they'd be in attendance Saturday night.

Pretty sure the Part at the Tower and Mimosa Day was something Beard just said and forced UT officials to make it happen.  I don’t know that Vic has said anything as such.  If he has and UT didn’t make it happen, well then yes, that’s on Texas officials.  If he didn’t and they just expected it to happen, there’s a communication problem.

There’s a lot of admin over WBB that need to be pushed out or retire.  Need new blood willing to actually promote the program.

WBB is still doing Zoom stuff and MBB is in person. I know Vic hates that

Reminds me of us in women’s D1 reffing.  We are the only refs at any level forced to wear masks while officiating.  We hate it.

Just now, Pato del Muerto said:

Officials have lost control of this game. Tcu is being totally reckless and longhorns are hitting the floor a over.

hell they let gaston stumble around for 2 possessions and I’m still not sure if they stopped play or Vic had to call time out or make them stop play after the basket.

Her grabbing her head, I think they had to stop it for a possible concussion. But they have lost control
