Arch Manning: Doing his best JAG impression to fool scouts

Sark tried to fill in the gaps with the portal. He brought in a punter, a place kicker, a tightend and a backup QB with game experience - in case Arch missed a couple of games. He tried to cover all his bases, and get this team to the NC game. There was no way for Sark to know Manning was a head case and would wilt under the pressure like a little girl. I think the whole team would be playing better, incuding the OL, if they had not lost confidence in their QB.

Troll or sock?

It took you an hour to come up with that?

Someone thinks they are in a chat room and not a message board. The IQ on this one is through the roof.

I dont see that working. Calwell wss 63.2% comp, 1,608 yds, 13 TDs, and 8 Ints at Troy. Maybe he has greatly improved since then, but nothing in his history suggests he will be an answer.

Troy won 4 games. I don’t think you can really use his results there to justify anything.

Oregon had no issues addressing their OL needs in the portal during the offseason. Flood just thought he was too good to turn to the portal to fill the holes he created with his shitty recruiting and evals.

Yeah didn't they take a OT from Texas State who is now their starting RT? Baker isn't ready. I guess Cojoe's injury is having a bigger impact than we thought. If Stroh really gets any more playing time at Texas the coaching staff are just retards.

Starting caliber OL are pretty rare/nonexistent in the portal, to be fair. Especially when it looks like we need 4.

Oregon is starting 3 OL from the portal. If Texas was looking for OL, I am pretty sure agents would inquire

lolwut?  No.  They just aren't that good.  We saw PK replace NFL picks with two new NFL picks and thought it would just happen again.  It didn't.

I'm not saying 23 draft picks is what's keeping this team from being elite, it hasn't slowed down tOSU, but it has CLEARLY had an impact that was unexpected.  We just aren't as talented as we were last year.  That's the story.

To be fair, the defense got pushed around against Florida on the ground last year too. And before anyone says it was late in the game, they rushed for 80 yards by halftime, and another 80 in the 3rd quarter. So I wouldn't give up on the defense just yet. Florida's O-line, in combination with the patience of their RBs might just be something unique that we struggle with. Not to say our interior in elite, but I think it's better than they showed this week.

It’s certainly possible some years

Late on the throw. Play was going nowhere though. The issue with the offense is Arch has to be perfect for this offense to score at a high level. There is no run game. The OL is shaky. It is a bad combination for a QB learning on the job. Sark needs to find some reliable chain movers. Everything cannot be about the big play. Miami killed Florida on the perimeter. Not sure I saw a WR screen in this game. Would love to see Sark lean on some short passing game. Even that is going to be tough as teams are going to play 2 safeties over the top all year and dare Texas to run the ball and we have an OL that is good for 3-4 penalties a game. Texas does not have an offense currently. It is just random plays being called in hopes of getting an explosive downfield occasionally.

Wasn't really late as much as the nickel blitz made it a dead play.
Arch is reading the nickel off the RPO. If the nickel bites down on the RB, Arch pulls it and throws it to Mosely on the slant. The nickel does indeed "bite down."
The problem is that the nickel was coming on a blitz regardless, so now he's directly in the throwing lane. Because of that, Arch can't throw the ball on time and has to get rid of it high.

There were a few other plays where the Florida defense read a screen attempt immediately and blew it up. Like the 3rd and 10 on the first drive where Arch had to throw it away. That was supposed to be a screen to Wisner that got sniffed out.

Yes, Alex Harkey, who happens to be from Austin.

Baker wasn't what was killing us the most. The LG/C combo plus we kept allowing Florida to get a DE on our 195lb backs in pass pro. We could've made hay running off the edge on passing downs simply taking advantage of Florida's lack of gap integrity.

Both times we successfully got the edge in the run game were nullified by holding penalties

Agreed. If I am remembering correctly, the run wasn't supposed to pop outside(?), and you know how that goes. He just needs to know to let go when the defender turns to pursue. I will take a couple of those over barely touched A-gap rushers all game. In fact, put Baker at LG and he gets two holds per game as long as nothing else gets through. Lol.
