San Antonio Spurs 2025-26 - Release the Kraken

The starting lineup was a combined 4/30 from three last night. 13%.

And this is still an Achilles heel for the squad. Not enough consistent shooting from distance for this team. They've done a great job in improving their FT% (still needs to tick up for the playoffs) and getting easier baskets inside the arc which has led to a top 5 shooting team, but they're 15th from distance. That's meh and its with Fox and Keldon probably shooting an unsustainable percentage. Now, hopefully Steph and Harper cross over 30% to balance it out but this team, way ahead of schedule, still has some holes. They need a big 3 and D 4 who can guard the Durants and Giannis of the world. I don't trust Bryant to do that yet, let him mature at his own rate. One idea is Trey Murphy but I'm not sure we want to match the cost and does he give you that much more than Barnes? Long-term, yes, but this year, this team may really need Barnes' experience in the playoffs.

We probably do need to move Sochan for something..... again, that long 4 who can play great defense, rebound and shoot 3's or basically everything Sochan was supposed to develop into and give us. These developing teams, especially the ones who arrive before they were supposed to, are sometimes the most fun ones to root for. Too young and too brash to know this isn't the way its supposed to be done. They were to wait their time in 27 or 28'. Fuck that, they're kicking in the door now.

Just have to keep up the great play. Too many times we've seen young team collapse in the 2nd half. Let's get better rather than regress......

Oh BTW and it this doesn't need to be said but fuck OKC and those redneck fucking land thief fans. And fuck their team, dirty as fuck and playing a victim oriented style of basketball. There's a reason OKC is young as fuck and instead of being the best story in the league is sort of low key hated by most.... It's because they dirty. Here's Dort proving it:

We really need to design some better O around Wemby - and/or he needs to improve when it comes to ball-movement and spacing. We can't have it be Wemby get the ball at the 3 line and try and do something and if he can't kick it out every other possession.

Rockets didn't help us by beating the shit out of these guys Saturday. They're already desperate.

Pretty good 1Q.

I will add that they are in large part desperate because they've been a fucking mess this season. Let's see if we can make a run and get a nice lead going.

Wemby still seems to get tired pretty quickly. There was a sequence in the 1st where he didn't get back past the half court line on defense because he was so gassed.

And I agree, there's still a lot of work to do to figure out how to integrate him in the offense. The ball just sticks to his hands too much right now. It'll get there.

Keep in mind he's still working his way back.

Part of the reason I think minutes restrictions are dumb. He can either play or he can't - let him get back in game shape.

I've watched probably 20 full games this year, but I still can't figure out what's going on with Kornet's hair.

This Cavs team is a fucking trainwreck. Woof.

Could have done without Wemby blowing those possessions back to back.

Wemby is pressing like a motherfucker.

It's year 3 - need to be better than this.

He's playing his ass off I'll give him that.

Has not quite looked as quick since coming back. Just a tad slow enough for teams to operate a little more comfortably

Are you talking about on defense? Because if anything he's rushing his game on offense and trying to do too much.

Just no cohesion and sloppiness since Christmas.

Feels like we started reading the headlines a little too much

Fox has been on the bench for way too long.

So has Wemby, but plastic bubble wrap and all.

i have 100% faith that wimby will get this team refocused and back on track

He needs to start w coach mitch. Wtf with the stupid 4th qtr minute restrictions and not feeding him on the block or elbow. Should not be a possession where he doesn't touch the ball.

Cleveland now healthy is one of the best teams in the league but you just aren’t going to win games in the NBA today shooting as poorly from three as the spurs have the past two games. It’s not like they had bad looks.

Yeah this was not a good Mitch game.

Barnes was nonexistent. Vassell still fails to produce consistently.

Harper and Castle are legit but they're babies. So is Wemby, to a degree. Ton to like so far this season but I'm assuming we need to get our ass kicked in the playoffs at least once before we make a deep run.

We'll see what happens with Jokic. Houston is right back on our ass as are technically the Lakers I guess.

Long season.

cavs are very scrappy

With the minute restrictions how is wemby gonna find a groove? I don't get it. Mitch could easily DNP him on every third game and get the most out of him for 2 straight games.

They just get so fucking careless with the ball, whether it's the baby-brained cross-court passes or the unnecessary dribbling into traffic.
