The Great American Hero on Lemmon is closing. That really sucks but good for the owner as he's cashing out after 40 something years of being at that place. There was also one over by me off Garland Road near Goodfriend but it closed back in the 00s.

Was looking for a quick sandwich to pick up on my way into the office the other day. Was heading down Central toward downtown and figured I'd just run in and get an Original "Wreck" at the Potbelly or something from Jersey Mike's at Knox/75. Pulled into the parking lot and saw there is a Bread Zeppelin there. My wife went to ESD with the guys who started that. What the hell, I'll give it a shot. I have to say that was a damn tasty chain sandwich if you ask me. I think there are 5-6 locations in DFW with most on the Dallas side.

While I am still completely obsessed with Bread Zeppelin, I found another "new" sandwich spot in Preston Center doing more "gourmet" NOLA-style po boys.

The owners used to have Evan's Meat Market, which was apparently in the same strip center that Sachet is but I was completely unaware of it. At any rate, they sold sandwiches there. They closed the meat market and re-opened just as a sandwich place in Preston Center. It's in the old Yonkers Pizza location. I'd been wanting to give it a shot so stopped in last week to check it out. I don't think this is one of their signature sandies but I went with the Chicken Cracklins and it was damn good.

That's fine, but I'll stick with Jimmy's 9 times out of 10!

Love Jimmy's but it's not geographically agreeable to the house like Preston Center.

Different sandwich styles too. I don't think of Jimmy's as NOLA po-boys and the line for service can be a bear at Jimmy's.

Point well taken!  Kidding with you. I'm downtown mostly when in Dallas, so I understand the geography considerations.

I usually make my Jimmy's runs on the way home from the few days that I actually go into the office downtown but I'm usually stockpiling pizza supplies -- Jimmy's sausage, pepperoni, mozz, dough balls, etc. I've always joked that you go into Target for one thing and wind up with a full shopping cart. Jimmy's is like that food wise.

They had a booth and were slinging Gumbo at Chefs For Farmers a few weeks ago.  Was great to talk to them.  Gotta bust out of downtown and go try them soon!
