  1. Rare Breed Rye is on the shelf everyday at Total Wines I visit in Houston. 59.99 I think.
  2. We are in the early, experimental stages of NIL and these players are taking advantage. Good for them. The upcoming seasons will determine if these big money guys were actually worth it. Rates/payments will be adjusted accordingly. Some people need to calm down.
  3. What if Mathis is just trying to max out is NIL deal with us? Can you blame him?
  4. Biggest takeaway from that game is Sarkeatin' needs to lose some weight.
  5. What an amazing brain Kurt possesses. Surprised he didn't say Reggie Bush-sized.
  6. Last year the goal should have been to score 50 points a game once we fully realized the defense was shit. If the defensive talent isn't there yet and they can't make timely stops again this year, the goal should be to score 60 a game. All gas, no brakes, right? I'm very happy to win games like we did vs. Tech last year.
  7. I walked into a Total Wine last week for the first time in a couple of months, and they had Blanton's on the shelf. Picked one up, opened the box in the car, and saw the dump date was November 3rd 2021. So probably a left over Blanton's that a shit load of people "won" from last year's rewards system.
  8. Of course he has to earn it. He's way rustier than Card at the moment, the expectation is he'll catch up.
  9. I generally agree with the sentiment, but I want to eliminate the losing culture at Texas. Sark is a QB guy, he knows what he's doing with that particular position. Pick your guy and run with it.
  10. I'll be surprised if Ewers isn't starting from Day 1 and the entire season (barring injury). Don't think Sark wants a replay of last years QB situation. The Arkansas game seemed to fuck up his initial plans, and after Casey got hurt in the OU game it was a total clusterfuck. If Ewers plays like shit against Alabama there should be a much longer leash and not as much screaming about it from the fanbase/higher ups. Embrace the blank slate approach with a brand new elite QB and hope for the best. Might be some short term pains but long term it's the right move.
  11. I was watching an interview with Rod Babers a while back and he made some salient points about Sark. When you look at last season, in general the game plans and installations heading into games were top notch for most of the year (outside of the Arkansas debacle). Babers was mentioning how Sark walked into the stadium for Texas/OU pimped out in his custom outfit. He was cocky. And he had reason to be, he installed a great game plan for that OU game and he fucking knew it. But Sark's biggest issue was not being able to make in-game adjustments Look at our Big 12 games last year: TTU - Total offensive domination from the start, game was relatively stress free. at TCU - Up 6 at halftime, fed Bijan all day, held on to win in second half. vs. OU - 28-7 first quarter lead, up 18 at half time. Meltdown in 2nd half. vs. Okie State - Up 17-3 in 2nd quarter, about to score again, Casey throws a pick 6. Total meltdown in 4th quarter. at Baylor - Up 21-10 in 2nd quarter, total meltdown after that. at Iowa State - Up 7-3 at halftime, outscored 27-0 in the second half Kansas (Bijan gets hurt) and WV games were shitshows and the team was in a free fall at that point. Clearly it's very fucking scary that Sark has issues making adjustments. We knew our defense was shit very early on, and the goal should have been to score 60 every game. But the offense typically sputtered in the second half. How many times did we see like 3-4 three and outs in a row after being able to move the ball easily in the 1st half? That should be fixable if properly identified. Does Sark have too many responsibilities in-game that eventually affect his play calling? I don't get the sense he's too arrogant to change some things around, but it definitely needs to happen.
  12. Co-sign on Dolina. Their gingerbread is amazing and the bacon & date scone will change your mind if you hate/dislike scones.
  13. I've met one of the everyday dudes at TW Memorial. Really nice guy and loves to talk about bourbon, and he's not selfish or secretive about what he finds there. But yeah, knowing that he's dropping in their everyday at 10am (and probably a few others)...I don't bother making that drive anymore.
  14. I agree that's a good bottle, but pretty easy to find. Spec's usually has it.
  15. Total Wine is frustrating. There seems to be no rhyme or reason with individual stores. Holcombe location was terrible for a while, then had a month of getting some nice bottles (I got a Blood Oath, Smoke Wagon U/U, and a 107 there within a 1-2 week span last year), then really nothing since. Like you said, Memorial location attracts the hunters. San Felipe location has been bad for a while. Some family circumstances have kept me off the bourbon search over the last few months, but doesn't look like I'm missing out on very much. I'll occasionally pop into WB Liquors when I shop at Costco, they have had nothing worthwhile so far this year.
  16. I've seen at least 4-5 examples now of Stagg Jr. being relatively underpriced at restaurants. Curious.
  17. OF Rye - $9 Sazerac Straight Rye - $18
  18. Man, that was cathartic. Happy for Beard, the players, and fans.
  19. I admittedly don't have much knowledge of the situation, but I was happy to see BJ Foster find another school to play for next year.
