  1. Submitted something via their site. Lots of stuff we'll out of our budget - let's see what their response is. Got any contact info for .38 Special?
  2. "Bring it on down to Cup 'o Noodle Town"
  3. Spending over an hour with Bruno last week doesn't count?
  4. & Again, when we first met him on 11 Dec 22 all was OK. It was his known home & apparently the husband was recognized by Bruno as the Alpha, so we were merely visitors is my guess.
  5. "Dangerous breed"? Have you been around Dobermans much? Our Major never met a person or other dog that he didn't like & Bruno was cool when we met him last Sunday.
  6. Got Bruno from wife's mom. Currently in a 2 BR apartment. Wife is pregnant with #2.
  7. Either ask for input or maybe provide my contact info. YES, that would be a definite assist. I don't think Crayon is on Shag² any longer - he might be a good resource for info or suggestions (thinking Cowbell is no mas & knowing he is currently with "Chandler & the Bings").
  8. When supplying their own backline, lights, board, etc.? 100% accurate pricing. Again, this is about getting tickets sold.
  9. Yes, that WOULD make sense. But I need names first. Bands / artist that would fit the criteria of getting people interested. - Will most likely attend the event & the band is an added bonus. - Will be interested in the band / artist & the event is an added bonus. Not looking for anything like GWAR or Ghost, not looking for Barney, the Purple Dinosaur... even if that would get attendance.
  10. Currently with 3, potentially going to 4. Hyperbole, much? If you had been witness to the aggression here, that would possibly change your opinion.
  11. Also, in the "he needs to learn" conversation, Bruno has zero manners in wanting to take stuff off the top of a table, counter, etc. Constantly getting his nose on your TV tray, sniffing your drink, etc..
  12. As some of y'all may have seen elsewhere, Major (our Doberman of 8+ years) passed away around 1-1/2 months ago due to Cancer. Gut wrenching, of course. The 1st dog my kids ever had as "theirs" (my Mom had a German Shedder that was located @ her house; Otis passed on close to 6 years ago). Anyway. Yesterday, we got another Doberman. Say "hi" to Bruno. $ 300.00 got us the dog, a collar, + 1 "King Size" bag of Pedigree. Mature size, juvenile in age (somewhere between 10 months & 1 year, I think). This was my wife's idea & she was really missing Major, so that explains her emotional situation on going for another Dobie so soon. This one isn't the "black & tan" variety, Bruno is the "Red & Rust" version. We visited with Bruno @ his South Austin home last Sunday & after some apprehension on his part, he warmed up what seemed to be enough & he played with me, my teenaged kids, etc Monster is almost 16 & Roxette is closing in on 18). All seemed to be OK. Yesterday, we picked him up & brought Bruno out to Drip. Hilarity did NOT ensue. We have 3 Corgis; Tater Tot (Rascal) is the cutest evarrr fuzzball pup of around 2 months old, Rory is approx. 1 year & Scout is 2 years. Both "adult" Corgis took an instant dislike & Bruno was violently aggressive towards Rascal (pup). Bruno has apparently NOT been trained to not jump up / put his feet on you, etc. & 3x when someone had his back to him, he went near 45 deg. angle to the human & was either trying to assert dominance or going for the "play" posture (not either of these moves to a human in an overly aggressive way). After Bruno was here around 1 hour, Roxette returned after having been to the high school to do maintenance for her sheep (4H type show sheep) & Bruno apparently smelled something of interest & was very VERY aggressive to her. Everything was a mess... none of the canines settled down (other than Rascal... he's still oblivious @ that age) & we had to separate them overnight by a distance of around 6 feet from the living room to the kennel we have Bruno in. This is not working out We contacted the people in South Austin that we got him from & they are refusing to take him back. Less than 18 hours after we brought him to Drip. THEM: We already spent the money & gave away all of his stuff that we still had. US: We can work on the $$ later - for now, you have to take him back. We will even give you the bed & some rawhides we picked up @ PetCo. THEM: Nope, that's your issues. Hard refuse. US: Let's be reasonable here - this isn't working out. (re-describe issues that have come up) THEM: Nope. - - - - - - - Discuss, Shag.
  13. The sound board / engineer thing will def. be part of the conversation. I did mention the need for providing your own PA as part of the OP so... yeah.
  14. But what's their following? Prior to your post, I had never heard of them (AND, based on the name I was assuming it was a C&W band with a tilt towards traditional Texas swing... not a "glam / garage / blues band".) I am also curious as to what Jimmy Vaughan & the Tilt-A-Whirl Band might cost & again - would he pull the crowd? ADDENDUM: This act / artist would be AFTER a primary "other" event... not the MAIN attraction, but a definite pull & "another reason to attend", etc.
  15. Most bands in the Central Texas area (that I know of) would prefer to bring their own board / sound engineer, especially for a venue with potentially sketchy acoustics. The "local but well known" band does come equippped with their own intact sound person for that listed price. *Bring me a Ouija board, some hair from Jason Bonham & 5 tall candles - maybe we CAN get Led Zep. I think Robert Plant would be somewhat easy to lure back to the Austin area; I did once see him in the "nuts / bolts / screws" aisle of the Home Depot on Brodie Lane... maybe I can find a mud shark as bait?
  16. Parameters: Memorial Day Weekend 2023 (Friday AND possibly a Saturday night... maybe one band for Friday & another for Saturday - def. not the same band back to back). Venue can seat up to 4,500. Artist / Act needs to supply their own PA / lights (current sound situation sucks). Venue is in Central Texas. "Green Room" will be a reasonably nice 30 ft. camper with slide(s). Artist / act can supply their own bus if preferred. "NORMAL" contract riders provided (food, drink, etc + possible meet & greet spaces, security, etc) Funds raised are for a 501©3. Booking fee would hopefully be $ 25,000.00 or less. Looking for suggestions on an act that will put butts in seats but not break the bank. I already know of 2 groups & prices will range for them anywhere from $ 25,000.00 to +$ 50,000.00; one of them already priced is a somewhat well known cover band, the other is a somewhat up & coming but still national touring group with all originals & the occasional cover (filling time is not needed, those covers are for esoteric / fun close the show uses)... for the 2nd, think where the Randy Rogers Band was maybe 10 years ago. Discuss.
  17. Recent Gumbo excursion. I may have threatened on some thread back a moth++ ago that I was gonna make some & post pics, however I can't find that post to follow up on (I didn't really look too hard). Anyway, scrimps, ersters, mudbug meat, lump crab & probably 3x the amount of slimers (Okra) that most of y'all typically use.
  18. FYI, these are old pics - I'm clearing stuff off my phone & tossing stuff into my computer.
  19. Home Depot, Drip.
  20. I had a corner fireplace in my South Austin 2 story townhouse. Converted it to gas (there was already a stub out in the wall, I had to retrofit, etc). Found out there are two types of gas systems: (1) for ambiance & pyrotechnics, has a great look. Doesn't provide a lot of radiant heat to the space. Quiet. (1) for good heat, looks good but not as appealing as the one noted above. & Is noisy AF with a noticeable hiss sound from the gas flow. Again, 2 story townhouse. Maybe 500 sq. ft. downstairs / 500 up. 2 BR / 1 bath up & 1/2 bath down with living & kitchen + laundry. Upstairs would get hot AF from the fireplace to where I could be sweating without even a t-shirt on. YMMV.
  21. Friday night; 1st time in... what, ?22 years? that I have been to Luckenbach (very convenient for us as it was only a 45 minute drive). Shane Smith & the Saints. Very crisp 45ish degrees. Chase (the bass) actually had pants on & Bennett (fiddle) was wearing real shoes vs. hippie sandals. I'll say it again - if you're any kind of Americana / (not pop) C&W with REAL songwriting, you should check them out. Also, if you watch the Paramount show "Yellowstone", they have had some songs used in some episodes & the "wedding scene" from this past release has them as the band.
  22. I saw a compilation vid of that show - seems like a small(er) arena for George. I also liked that he played all 4 corners. Interesting stage setup.
  23. Stomach cancer, not asshole cancer or the type one gets from eating too many bags 'o dicks..
