  1. I was in education for 6 years when I left. I went to grad school and ended up doing something completely different. I never really knew what I wanted to do and I think that's a huge disadvantage. The things I learned in the classroom served me very well in my career and I am very adaptable, but it was hard getting started because I didn't have a clear sense of direction. From what you said in your post, you're looking at the same problem. You can do anything you want to do, especially if you are willing to step back in salary and start over. You can make it up a lot faster in the private sector than you can in public or probably even private education. I would lean on friends who know you well and ask them what they think you should be doing as that may help give you some direction.
  2. Since I own shares of UUUU, you should bet on CCJ being right.
  3. You are overestimating quite a few people on Surly.
  4. Am I doing it wrong if I don't eat said breakfast taco out of a dog dish?
  5. This article confirms my long held belief that there needs to be a power 5 breakaway but in football only. Traditional (or maybe even older or hybrid) conferences are still needed for basketball and all of the olympic sports. This would keep the NCAA basketball tournament (and revenue drove for the NCAA intact) and hold travel and other expenses down. Football could then be regulated at whatever level your school is playing on. It might even allow for the growth of sports that aren't named football. I don't know exactly how it could happen, but I'm sure some smart people could get together and make it happen with more money to go around for everyone.
  6. But what good is that? If I definitely had it, what do I need to do with that information? And also, if your fully vaxxed, wouldn't that mess up the kit readings?
  7. I know their roller coaster goes up every year, but this year it is higher than I remember in the past with a lot more reasons to be concerned. If the roller coaster does its usual thing, this is going to be really ugly for Jimbo. I fully expect another 8-4.
  8. Does anyone really know if they are unscathed unless they are testing all the time? I thought I had a cold but wasn't sure. At the time, I wanted to get tested but I couldn't find an at home test anywhere and had no intention of waiting in a long ass line for what might have been a cold. The cold spreads to my son and he takes a test that his school made him take. Negative. Ok, I must have had a cold. A few days later, at school testing, both kids test positive. Son's symptoms are gone and daughter is asymptomatic. Wife and I take rapid tests, both negative. I tell my parents who had been exposed and they both test positive. Clearly, I had it at some point. Both kids have now tested negative but wife is now positive and has cold like symptoms. Everyone is fully vaxed. Wife is boosted. Long story short, I think there is a whole lot of spread and this thing is more like a cold, at least in the fully vaccinated and there are probably a bunch like my daughter who have no symptoms at all spreading it because they don't know.
  9. Would my third guess be allowed in hard mode? Spoiler! Don't open if you haven't played today.
  10. I'm really bad about seeing these threads too late. If you can remember, bump this thread before next season and I'll be in for the season contest.
  11. It's going to be hard to speak to owners about whether they like the HOA since it's a new townhome community. You said it scares the shit out of you not being able to control everything. That's a red flag, but you're aware of it. In the worst case, how upset will you be if you have an overzealous HOA member who measures the height of your mailbox? Can you live with that? Can you live within the ordinary rules of most HOA's that don't have an overzealous board member? If the answer is yes, you're probably ok. The green flag you stated is that you currently live in a historic district. In most historic districts, you have to have approval to do certain types of renovations or exterior changes. You will have the same experience in an HOA in that you need to gain approval to do certain things. What Gil said about the solvency about the HOA is very important. New HOA's can be a crapshoot. Some developers are great, but others will understate the fees because they want to present low HOA fees to new buyers. If possible, see if the developer has developed any other HOA's and see if you can talk to a board member at one of those HOA's. Did the developer fully fund reserves during the initial operating period when the developer had control? Did they have a smooth transition from developer to HOA? Did they have to sue the developer to get what they needed?
  12. I have put a ridiculous amount of pressure on myself for this game. I've gotten them all so far and it's usually on guess 4. Guess 4 is also where I start stressing about being an idiot if I don't get the word. I'm refusing to hit the link for unlimited because I don't want to obsess any more than I already do on this silly game.
  13. I was probably a teenager when I figured it out. My mom had shortened it to "Chester." I thought the name for that piece of furniture was a chester. When I figured out it was a chest of drawers, I likely thought people who called it that were hoity-toity.

I admire your dedication. Cheers to 2022!
  18. But Dan Reeves doesn't wear a scowl and is therefore not intense. (says the casual football fan who doesn't know shit about football - sensitive subject with me)
  19. I don't really give a damn about the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but I just assumed Dan Reeves would be in it. Looked it up and apparently he is not. That's a Got Damn travesty.
  20. This isn't the old Shaggy game where you could play for free. You're expected to pay here
  21. Sine we're off topic and into the weeds, it's my opinion that Nebraska's fall in baseball is the loss of Van Horn. I can't speak at all about their other sports and affect of conference affiliation.
