  1. Living on the prairie southwest of Ft. Worth, as a kid, we had several tornados. None never hit the house, but it tore up a bunch of fence and destroyed my new treehouse that I hadn't even stepped foot in. We had a big tornado in our subdivision about 7-8 years ago, it was past my folks house, but without the ability to verify the distance it was extremely scary until we heard from them. CHIEF
  2. Do you wear one to the bank, convenience store, or liquor store presently? CHIEF
  3. Yep, and fucked up the Simon David at the Arboretum. CHIEF
  4. Here is a breakdown by Mosab Yousef, the son of one of the founding members of Hamas, on the Hamas mindset. He is anti-Hamas, but understands their goals. The conflict isn't about politics but religion. CHIEF
  5. Yes, I wrote about it early in this thread. Toro is a great place. CHIEF
  6. Clothes don’t have to be expensive. Just nice golf shirt, pressed jeans, and proper footwear. Not shorts, a stained t-shirt, and flip flops which tends to be his attire when not working or going clubbing. CHIEF
  7. To be honest, I would have to give them 1967. CHIEF
  8. Exactly. CHIEF Jr., being an engineer, would probably have some intel tendencies if we let him. One rule we set after graduation is that he was not to work from home. He needed to be in an office setting, and go in daily to interact face to face with people. Sit across from people and solve problems. That is how the real world works. He is not a sharp dresser until he needs or wants to be. That shit had to stop. Go into the office dressed nice, properly groomed, and with a good attitude. That is the way young adults are supposed to learn to be on time, meet deadlines, build comradery and maturity. Working from home is for those old and mature enough to manage their time and stay on schedule. The office is also where you meet women, not necessarily one for a romantic relationship, but many want to hook up a friend, niece, daughter, or granddaughter with a successful young man that is sharp, educated, dresses nice, and is groomed properly. So far all of this has worked. One of my son's graduation presents was that we would pay for Lasik anytime he wanted it. He gets it next Thursday, along with an "old school" barbershop trip. He has a standing appointment every three weeks, his hair grows like crazy. We have a wedding reception for one of his friends, his wife is gorgeous, as are most of her friends. He wants to look good to "shoot his shot". CHIEF
  9. Why is it always the same lame chant at every Pro-Palestinian protest on every US campus. Not only are these kids irrational, they are also unoriginal. CHIEF
  10. Well, sure enough, it sounds like Hamas' counteroffer is going to scuttle the US brokered plan: CHIEF
  11. That was my high school history teacher. Lived in Section 8 housing in our small town for $90/month rent. Would rathole money all year for him and his mother to take long trips to Europe. He was a great guy, loved, and respected in our small farming community. Occasionally, there would be young men come and visit him and stay overnight. Everybody knew, but no one said a thing. Knowing that I was going to minor in history, and I was one of his best students, he came over and had many meals at my family's house. The second true passionate historian I ever knew. The first was my 7th grade Texas history teacher, in a larger town. He was also a 60 year old single man that kept to himself. CHIEF
  12. I know they don't like them. I just wonder if Egypt could be paid enough to tolerate them. You would still have Hezbollah as a perpetual irritant. CHIEF
  13. I don't understand why some Western Democracies and wealthy Arab states can't get together and purchase land in the empty area on the Mediterranean in the Sanai Peninsula, south of Rafah. Offer to keep Egypt healthy stocks of wheat and other food items, the Ukranian War has really caused some instability in their food supply. Set up a port for humanitarian aid, free from Israeli controlled Gaza, and build a desalinization plant for drinking water and agricultural irrigation. If the British bought land for displaced Jews in 1948, surely it can be done again, if the pot is sweetened enough for Egypt. CHIEF
  14. I grew up in in a small town (10 people in my graduating class, 7 boys three girls)with only one "decent" looking girl in the class. The class that were seniors when I was a sophomore had some legitimate smoke shows, but they were dating guys a few years older. There were two really hot ones in the two classes below me, so pickings were slim. We also went to adjacent towns. I only got to smash one of the younger ones my senior year. College was like a kid in a candy store though. Somehow we managed to find attractive women to date and marry. CHIEF
  15. I was checking. We have a subdivision called Silverado between Granbury and Weatherford. It’s got some houses that size, and got rocked pretty hard yesterday evening. CHIEF
  16. Trey, where was it? We had some bad storms in my neck of the woods, here in Granbury. CHIEF
  17. Ah yes. The scene where he found out Indominace Rex had Raptor DNA. CHIEF
  18. Wow. Twelve hours between between the last post and the one before, while protest threads have several posts per minute. The IDF could invade Rafah, and no American would know it for 48 hours. The protests have completely derailed what is currently going on in Gaza. Americans have to have the shortest attention span in history. CHIEF
  19. 100% agree with Smax. It has divided our nation, and much of the World. It has caused unimaginable harm to our relationships (my BIL's narcissistic wife and he divorced over her seeing people going on exotic trips and they couldn't), social media, misinformation, infidelity, murders, human trafficking, a whole list of societal ills. It has its benefits, but the bad far outlays the good. CHIEF
  20. Most of the young adults, that I know around here don't use social media, my son doesn't have any. Someone hacked his Snapchat account and sent all of his group a message saying he needed money for rent, and asked them to Venmo funds to an account he didn't create. They all knew he lived at home, at the time. We were on or way to the lease when it all went down. Then the fucker that did it wanted $1500 to let him have his Snapchat account back. He, and everyone that got that message went to straight group texts. I'm sure a bunch of the women still have social media accounts, but they know that a bunch in their group only text. CHIEF Jr. wasn't the first one it happened to, happened to several others as well. Realizing a face to face meeting, and getting a girl's number, where you can't get catfished and you can gauge just "how bigga ol' girl are ya" is still a thing. CHIEF
  21. Not necessarily incels, but a lot of young singles in general no longer go to clubs and bars in our area. A DWI will wreck them financially. We are lucky in that we have a 19th Hole in our neighborhood and security doesn't give DWIs, in fact, you can call them to come pick your drunk ass up and take you home. My son bailed out one friend, and had another get one leaving the last wedding we attended. He worked at Lockheed and got let go because he could no longer qualify for Top Secret clearance. Our 19th Hole is an older crowd, but there are some pretty young women, bartenders, and our cart girl is a smoke show. At work, the older women are always trying to set him up with their daughters or granddaughters. I'm glad he didn't take a job working from home. CHIEF
  22. I think Israel offered feeling that Hamas is stupid enough to reject it. If they do reject it, Israel will try to gain sympathy and lessen criticism of their actions. If Hamas doesn't care about their civilians and any humanitarian aid, why should we. CHIEF
  23. Sounds like the ball is Hamas' court. Release hostages for a ceasefire. If they reject it Rafah gets invaded. CHIEF
