  1. Seriously, who finishes with more dingers in 2023, Alvarez or Diaz? I'm leaning to the latter.
  2. I really doubt giving up back-to-back jacks by Dubon and Maldy is something Holton will tell the grandkids about.
  3. No wonder we can buy so many players. We're continuing to live rent free.
  4. It's a dry cold. But hey, so is a blast freezer. Last time I was in Saskatchewan, I chipped a molar while trying to eat a granola bar I'd been "keeping warm" in my pocket. Nothing is all that pliable below 0° F, and that includes the human body.
  5. It's really just a clearer, sadder picture of what we've been for much of the year. Which is why in June I said I feared a July "rally" that might convince the FO that we were WS material. The Rangers' return to earth further baited the trap. We're roadkill.
  6. If we hadn't had such a historic run of excellence, I could get much more enthused about this seesawing season. Ranger and Mariner fans I suppose see it as an epic race among three elites, but I don't share that sentiment. I have no idea if we'll make the playoffs or if we'll win a game if we do. Don't want to feel that way but am just going on what my eyes tell me.
  7. France isn't showing much resistance.
  8. Ask Dad what's up. Because if he's in town, well, that probably means Michael is "close."
  9. Inning after inning of offensive impotence was more the culprit than Graveman. Should have never gone to extras.
  10. Part of what's wrong with him is that we evidently don't have anyone better. A truly frightening thought, because he's becoming the Maldonado of shortstops.
  11. They gagged that away so effortlessly.
  12. If we suddenly swapped coaching staffs with aggy, what would each team's record be?
  13. That's been the craziest thing to me, to be this far over .500 despite the wildly up-and-down performances. Maybe several guys have been more dinged up than we heard they were, but we've had no notable stretch of every key guy playing decent to great. Altuve hot, Bregman cold. Tucker mashing, Chaz slumping. Valdez cruising, Brown in a funk. Or so it seems to me. Throw in the many missed games by 27 and 44, along with the underuse of Diaz, and it's really a wonder we're in the position we are.
  14. Plus the bullpen. At least now we're sometimes getting far enough ahead that calling on Montero isn't always fatal.
  15. For as sporadically as we've pitched, hit and played D this year, by our recent standards, and for as hot as our "neighbors" were for months, today's standings are remarkable. It's still hard for me to be confident without seeing longer stretches of consistency and health, but hopefully we've survived the worst of both. At least I'm not hearing anything about Arlington's magic number any more.
  16. He's a B2 bomber that keeps missing missions because we're always out of fix-a-flat.
  17. Come Oct. 1, I'd certainly take playing well in the final WC spot over leading the West with key guys gimpy or our rotation still a train wreck.
  18. Not sure I've ever seen a reliever throw 22 pitches in a 1-2-3 inning. Nice, Hector.
  19. Bregman needs to show up and show out.
