  1. Got dang America loving heroes, every single one of them flexing their freedom muscles!! Just came back from a beach ride a couple of minutes ago and you’re correct, Trump 2024/FJB flags are absolutely everywhere and a couple people set up to sell them! No CR, but I wonder why I’ve never seen a Biden flag? Surely they make them!
  2. Why’d you answer the phone?
  3. I worked as a basic EMT up to Paramedic in college, and while this was a bunch of decades ago and EMT’s now do what only paramedics could do then, getting your basic EMT training should be a piece of cake if your kid is med school bound or even of normal intelligence. As I said many volunteer FD’s provide free training, but $1500 seems a little steep but not crazy high. IIRC my basic NR EMT training was a full semester or close to it. I’d be very leery of some 2-3 week class, but if there’s a service that will hire you after that, what do I know? After the very basics you learn mostly from experience. And yes, in the years I did it I saw shit that there’s no way to ever unsee, it’s not for everyone and incredibly hard on your back!
  4. Calhoun County. Not sure what a GPC is but she’s been told she’s going to 6th grade. They don’t even know if she’s failed the math portion of STAAR yet, but her mom was told she didn’t do well and would probably fail but they won’t have the actual results until August. Either way she could benefit from the summer school. The issue is the remaining tutoring they say she’ll need if she’s failed the test as summer school will only be half the required hours. Can we hire an accredited tutor or teacher and knock out whatever she needs before school begins so she doesn’t miss out on her electives? Or does it have to be a district employee and done on school time? Sorry if I’ve explained it poorly.
  5. A lot of volunteer fire departments offer free EMT training.
  6. Little friend and classmate of my kid will be traveling out of state with us on an extended vacation this summer. Today was 5th grade graduation and we were all out eating lunch when her mom got a call from her teacher that she was expected to fail the Math portion of STAAR. (Why TF is Texas still doing this bullshit?) Anyway the kid will need to do the 3 weeks of summer school, but apparently that’s only half the hours of tutoring necessary to fulfill the requirements of a new law. Poor kid doesn’t have a pot to piss in, literally lives in a 1960’s single wide with no siding on one side of it and no running water half the time. Abject poverty! She’s never been on any kind of a vacation and has been looking forward to this trip for months, it’s all she talks about. She’s going to be passed through to the 6th grade, but will have to give up her electives until this is taken care of, including beginner band camp towards the end of summer. My question is, can I hire some type of accredited tutor to get her the needed hours she needs or is it something that has to be done through the school? The teacher says no, but she’s a proven dumbass and the worst excuse for a teacher I’ve seen. She’s a fantastic kid whose been dealt a shit hand her entire life, and I’d just like to help her transition to 6th grade be a smooth one if I’m able.
  7. I’m just envious of whoever could bend down long enough to draw all that. I’ll be in the getting old sucks thread.
  8. World’s most popular accents. Prolly should be named celebrities I’ve heard with accents. I’m calling BS on this list with Penelope Cruz and Sophia Vergara so high on the list. Beautiful women, but living with those accents 24/7 for any length of time would have you looking for a short rope and a tall branch! First American is Matthew pretty far down the list. https://word.tips/worlds-favorite-accents/

  11. Is Curvy the new plus size? Half this store…
  12. Just look sheepish and thank her for taking such good care of you. 2 minutes of that BS beats the shit out of having to do laundry and clean the house for another 3 months until she complains about it again.
  13. It’s a good follow.

    Getting old sucks

A Dr wanted to do a double mastectomy on my 97 year old grandmother who was quickly heading into dementia when they found a few spots “just to be safe.” We declined. But if the old guy still has all his wits about him and is in otherwise good health why not? Kind of surprised insurance would cover it though.
  15. Wife’s still beautiful! Congratulations and Happy Anniversary.
  16. What? Tulsa has rolling hills. Not Switzerland of course, but far from flat as a pancake.

  18. First 3 seasons were gold! Once Henry Blake and Trapper John left after season 3 and Colonel Potter shows up and it started getting too preachey I was on the fence, but once Larry Linville left it officially sucked (IMO). The fact that they drug it out for 11 seasons after 3 of the main characters were replaced after 5 I don’t know.
  19. Just got one of our carts back from the wife’s nephew after letting him borrow it for 6 months. Took a tiny bit under 4 gallons of water to refill the batteries. I didn’t know they held that much! Can’t believe it was still rolling.
  20. Al Pacino’s over the top acting makes Scent of a Woman unwatchable. Hoo-Ah!!!
  21. No way he’d still be married to that Francesca! Learn to tell a story Quentin!!
