  1. I’m Team Trey next year. I like my QBs to be able to see TEs & WRs crossing the middle. Of course “Team Arch” first, then “Team Trey”.
  2. I was perusing the Denver Post in order to relish in the Avalanche misery and I came across this… 1. Game 7 demons exorcised: The Avs entered Saturday night with ghosts aplenty. Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Gabe Landeskog and head coach Jared Bednar had never won a winner-take-all Game 7. They’d never come back to win a series. And they’d also never dispatched a team coached by Peter DeBoer, losing three separate series with the veteran coach behind the bench with San Jose (2019), Vegas (2021) and Dallas (2024). And those demons remain — for another year at least. In perhaps the most painful way possible. Mikko Rantanen, himself winless in four Game 7s, stuck the dagger in with two straight third-period goals (a third came on an empty net). Then he twisted it on the power play, starting a tic-tac-toe that ended with Wyatt Johnston scoring the game-winner from an impossible angle. This is the kind of loss that lingers for decades. The kind that leads to pink slips. 2. O'Connor strikes ... again: A four-minute power play came up empty in the first period, and the Avs had fewer than 10 shots on goal midway through the second period when Parker Kelly got sent to the penalty box. Naturally, that's also when Logan O'Connor did what he does best: Make something happen. And, of course, everyone's favorite greasy goal scorer did it on the penalty kill. The puck squirted loose along the boards in the neutral zone, and O'Connor went on the attack, securing the turnover and delivering a perfect centering feed to a rushing Josh Manson for a one-timer that Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger had no chance of stopping. It was O'Connor's fourth assist, and sixth point, of the series. And yet another reminder of how much his absence hurt the Avs' playoff run a year ago. 3. Going bust: Avs GM Chris MacFarland pushed all his chips into the center of the table for this one, executing eight in-season trades that completely reshaped the roster. Two remade their goaltending depth. Another seemingly solved the post-Nazem Kadri 2C problem. And the most explosive sent away a franchise icon in Rantanen ... who just so happened to be the one who killed their season on Saturday. Unlike their basketball counterparts playing a Game 7 of their own back in Denver, the Avs have never been afraid to take risks. But right now, after a second first-round exit in three seasons, the Avs have to be wondering if it was all worth it. All of their picks in the first three rounds of the 2025 and '26 NHL drafts are now gone. So, too, is top prospect Calum Ritchie. And that 2C solution? Brock Nelson will be a 33-year-old free agent this summer. A massive offseason awaits. https://www.denverpost.com/2025/05/03/avalanche-stars-game-7-mikko-rantanen-slapshots/amp/
  3. I think that that bullshit hit by Bama “Dallas” guy, that would have been illegal in the NFL, really fucked up Quinn. He had some excellent games after that, but the knowledge that he could always be wrapped up and then drilled into the ground haunted him. A positive is that that won’t happen in the NFL… if he sticks with a team long enough to make it into the field.
  4. I only saw VY play in person two times because I wasn’t living in Texas at the time. Game 1: January 1st, 2005 vs Michigan Game 2: January 4th, 2006 vs USC I was living in LA at the time. I picked a good couple of games.
  5. Troy Aikman didn’t win a fucking game his rookie year. He was pure trash. When Troy wasn’t staring at his first option and probably throwing an interception, he was standing tall in the pocket and getting his shit packed and leaving the game with a concussion. Steve Walsh won the one game that year and always looked more NFL ready than Troy. Walsh was obviously smarter and the game wasn’t too fast for him, but he didn’t have the physical attributes to be a top NFL QB. If the Cowboys hadn’t brought in Norv Turner in 1991, Troy would never have been a Hall of Fame QB. Turner changed the offense to limit the damage of Troy’s weaknesses and highlight those strengths.
  6. https://texas.rivals.com/news/longhorns-land-commitment-from-deep-snapper-trott-o-neal Full Disclosure: Not what I picture when I see the words “deep snapper”. I think more old school deep snapper…
  7. And this is why no coach was going to draft Shedeur. Unfortunately for Stefanski & friends, the Cleveland owner went rogue.
  8. A lady at the Madrid Open today watching Draper 🇬🇧 v Musetti 🇮🇹. Draper took the first set, 6-3. Sad to see Ruud 🇳🇴 beat Cerundolo 🇦🇷 in straight sets.
  9. I take my cranky old mom by Sonic for a fudge sundae (extra fudge) on the way home from all of her doctors/diagnostic visits to UT Southwestern, so this hits close to home. Most recent sundae was two days ago after a mammogram that took over two fucking hours! (Imagine waiting for someone to use a copy machine at FedEx Office for just over two fucking hours!) Did a Google Maps cruise around App State’s campus and surrounding area and that’s a beautiful part of the state if you like nature.
  10. “…U$C, A$M and L$U's recruiting pitches all lead with NIL.” -fify
  11. I went down a rabbit hole of candy making videos from Hercules Candy Company in East Syracuse last night, so this hits close to home.
  12. Did I mention that I had been friends with TV’s original “The Bachelor” for over a decade before his TV stardom? Oh, and he’s in our fantasy football league, so he attended the Texas @ Michigan game this past September, because we had that as our destination draft weekend. 😎🤘
  13. I had a great tour guide on a Monday evening in September with a company named “Rome Walks” back in 1997. It was kind of survey course that started at the Coliseum, passed the Forum, Trajan’s Column, the Trevi Fountain, the whole walk to the Vatican, and then dumped us at Piazza Navonna after sunset. Had the same guide the next day (Tuesday) for a Vatican Tour. Started outside St. Pete’s, went inside, then we broke for lunch and we were to meet outside the museum where she would give a quick preview before sending us into the Vatican Museum which ends with the Sistine Chapel passage. I don’t think that the ceiling had finished being renovated (EDIT: it wasn’t completed until 1999), so it wasn’t that crowded. Taking guided tours is highly recommended in big cities… FULL DISCLOSURE: After having great guides in Munich & Rome (Berlin, Amsterdam, & Florence guides were mediocre), I ultimately became a tour guide in Buenos Aires from late 2008-2014 and ran a small tour company the last few years. PS- Went to JP II’s Wednesday mass in St. Pete’s Square with an Italian girl from my hostel on that 1997 visit and so I saw that guy barely speak to the masses in person. PPS- I took so many tours into Buenos Aires’ Catedral Metropolitana, that was Cardinal Jorge Borgolio’s church, that I am sure that I saw the pope conduct a mass before he became pope. So I have probably seen two popes poping.
  14. I have gone from being annoyed that Iga beat Kenin in the 2020 COVID French Open Final to liking Iga and her Ukraine support to not being able to stand Iga and her tantrums/ stupid forehand/ gamesmanship when she asks for time when receiving and she has been ready to receive for 10+ seconds… Big FUCK YOU BITCH with that gamesmanship crap. Don’t care for Coco’s similar forehand and mental meltdowns, but they seem to be minor versions of Iga’s. So today… Go Coco! Saturday… Go [winner of Sabalenka/Svitolina… as long as Sabalenka isn’t still screeching when the ball has already crossed the net to the other side of the court… more gamesmanship that I do not like.]!!
  15. Bill was always a shit drafter. I have said it before, but the Patriots were good year-after-year because veteran free agents took less money to go to New England, play with Brady, and finally win a Super Bowl. Even Brady took less money than he was worth, because he understood that he could make it up with endorsements if he kept winning. During the Brady tenure, Bill routinely shit the bed with 1 to 3 of each year’s 1st, 2nd, & 3rd round picks.
  16. Please enjoy your winter.
  17. It’s about time someone in the college football Spideyverse gave all glory to god! (Depending on your age, God may look different.)
  18. You do know that CJ went to Lovejoy, right? Has it ever occurred to you that maybe he’s just pimping his school? He’s the anti-Kirk Bohls.
