  1. Reminds me of Michael Scott talking to Oscar- Um, let me ask you, is there a term besides "Mexican" that you prefer? Something less offensive?
  2. I was seated behind 2 African American gentlemen that left shaking their heads after about the 26th racial slur.
  3. Still haven't finished it but not Spike's best work IMO. How many times has the question "you know who went to Morehouse?" been answered with Edwin Moses and not MLK? I suppose if you're about to run hurdles you might answer that, but not standing in Vietnam. That whole exchange seemed off, and I'll leave it to ordinance experts to opine if what happened immediately after that is even feasible, but I doubt it.
  4. Oh I can do that all night, as long as she's clean and there's no shitty acting and birds flying around in slow motion on in the background.
  5. I think that if you formalized it or made it a common practice, it would be a problem. Come to Texas and if you don't go pro we have a guaranteed 80k a year job for you after you use up your eligibility. I could see the NCAA caring about that as a recruiting advantage. If it's legal then we should already be doing it, just as a recruiting tool.
  6. Snacks, not to turn this into ask an African American anything, but what's your opinion on the Eyes? Did black students always hate it and feel like it had racial overtones, even when you were in school? As I've stated earlier, I'm on the side that the current students seem to be stretching to find a racial connection that most, including me, did not know existed until this week, but if a group of folks has always felt uncomfortable with it that certainly changes things.
  7. I'm no expert on NCAA rules but if this was legal to do, every rich school would have already done it. Think of the recruiting advantage you'd have with a de facto "pension" plan in place.
  8. A cynic might suggest that they are hesitant because a degree from the University of New Haven does not have same cachet as one from Yale, so they're willing to be offended as long as it doesn't really cause too much inconvenience.
  9. OU players petitioned to reduce the number of words in their fight song by 50% so it is but a single word endlessly repeated. I don't believe it's related to racism, though.
  10. Interesting. I did not know that about Rice until I looked it up after reading your post. I bet pretty much any private school named after a generous benefactor has problems. Stanford for sure. Guys that got incredibly rich in that time period weren't exactly woke.
  11. But he did write Crazy, which would be a perfect tribute to our abusive relationship with Texas football over the last decade.
  12. Clemson is. I know Watson is advocating for the removal of Calhoun from the honors college.
  13. Because owning slaves is morally fucking wrong? Unlike singing an inherently non-racist song that happened to be sung by some idiots in a minstrel show. I don't really see the comparison.
  14. I too am in the Nora's full of shit camp. Her version just makes no sense, both for her character and logistically.
  15. I'm in a second ring suburb of Minneapolis but work downtown, so definitely interested. I don't see any way this works, but if it does then hats off to them. As someone moving in 3 years, it's fascinating to see how this affects property values. My guess- If this is a roaring success, good for both downtown and burbs. If a moderate failure, bad for downtown, good for burbs. If a complete disaster, bad for both.
  16. Understood, but I think his hypothetical was about abolishing the cops, which some of the protestors were clearly advocating, at least in the boy mayor video. I don't think anyone is saying reform isn't needed but abolishing the police, as some protestors (not you) seem to be advocating is just asinine. I don't need a study to show that crime will increase then.
  17. I would say the threat of being investigated and caught certainly acts a deterrent. How big of one is up for debate but it's certainly there. Get rid of police, as his scenario implies, and shit can get ugly real quickly, from both sides.
  18. Was she with Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder?
  19. They're not quitting the force just that specific riot squad. I think that just gets them a hand job.
  20. Same, but I bet the family avoided any 23 and me tests, just to be on the safe side.
