  1. I don’t believe so. Rumor in these parts was Bob moved Brent down to these parts for reasons other then making room for his brother, and that was just the cover story to clean everything up. And though it has worked out well for Brent, many down in these parts believe there is something to it. Because if you pay attention you never hear his name mentioned any more. Yet his resume is that of someone that should have already been given an opportunity to be a head coach. Hell he already has a ring, and coached in four title games including beating Alabama. That is as good or better then Pruitt, Mullen or Smart all of which had a similar body of work.
  2. Damn Mike, I read your responses all the time. And they always appear well thought out. But, in this case I believe you may have missed my point. I wasn’t advocating any particular system as much as I was simply throwing something out calling for fair play. I’m open to anything, even going back to the old bowl tie ins if need be, rather then this slight of hand shit. And a disclaimer: I like Pappy very, very much. And probably shouldn’t start a thread at 1:00 am after consuming it.
  3. Gooner? Nah. Riley got his job done, albeit it required 4 quarters. Ain’t no one shut his ass down for 4. And their defense is a fucking sieve that you and I could score on. That game had little to do with two coaches playing mental chess. One just has a better scheme on one side of the ball, the other simply has better players on the other. Had Texas held the 21 point lead they built/enjoyed in the first 3 quarters I would wholeheartedly agree.
  4. After watching yet another episode of College Football Final. Featuring that dumb ass Palmer and Puppet using their fancy board to post their take on the top 5 teams. I felt compelled to ask a simple question. What was the real reason logic didn’t prevail and simply take conference champions and say, an at large bid? Money, pride, TV demanding good match up rating numbers? Who would want to watch Ol Miss, Wisconsin, Utah, Okie lite, Wake Forest, and Boise State right? Taking the conference champs and an at large would leave an opening for either ND should they run their schedule, and not piss them off. Or provide what could be the occasional Cinderella team out of the other schools like a UCF? Instead we have invented a new phrase, these fuckers can’t use enough....“the eye test”, which is nothing more then a euphemism for, man I really like these fuckers and the ratings would be awesome. Plus I think they should be in the mix. And I don’t care if they just lost, and can’t win their conference they looked really good doing it. For more then a century the subjectivity of the sport was actually part of the fun. And losing late was a season killer. Then the money got bigger and we got bowl tie ins. But that still allowed ambiguity in the ranks. And when a few select schools didn’t like those results we got the BCS. Which began the current corruption. And resulted in the bullshit we have now. I don’t have to remind any of you of the obvious shit. But one thing should be pointed out. Absolutely no one doubts the talent level of a Alabama. You watch them play and you can see it. But one doesn’t have to look any farther back then last year, where they failed to not only win their division, but the conference as well. However because of the “eye test” their loss to Auburn was largely meaningless. And if anything it allowed them not only a mulligan but time to heal, and extend their preparation for the four team playoff. One of which was a team from their own fucking conference they should of had to deal with in the first fucking place. I get that the SEC is the greatest and can beat several NFL teams. Shit I won’t even bother to argue that shit anymore as no one really cares. But the fact that we have a fucking committee going behind closed doors (no chance of impropriety there) and arbitrarily selecting the four schools without a reviewable data set is pretty laughable. In place of measurable data we get instead “their body of work” or the “eye test” bullshit. And lastly it still allows the mighty SEC to win every year. Because fuck it they do anyway. But the team that does do that will also be able to call themselves conference champion. Something last years champ can’t even fucking do. And it equally applies pressure to every member of every conference that to get in just win. Because, you know. It’s football, and sometimes really fucked up shit happens regardless of the “eye test”. Sometimes, on occasion, once in a blue moon, the favorite doesn’t fucking win. Fuck it, I’m done...
  5. There is absolutely nothing about this guy that says gangsta. I know he has been very successful, and maybe it’s a generational thing. But he pretty much looks like a pussy.
  6. Exactly, and if I had a guess he got that message to the right people. He is making good money with the mouse. And I just don’t buy Acho, if for nothing else but pride. Just woke up that morning and decided to speak out against his own. It reeks of just one more piece of the ESPN narrative.
  7. Hell, if I had a say in it I would tell whichever coach you went with to start cheating like a mother fucker. What could possibly go wrong? The NCAA? The FBI? If they can’t connect the dots with Jayhawks basketball, they sure as hell couldnt do anything about a historically bad football team, that just magically got a little better.
  8. You look at Tex’s Tech over there. And it makes you damn glad you chose something else....
  9. It’s recruiting guys. Missing out on the Oliver’s of the recruiting world really hurts. Sure, a good coach can hide a player or three. But at the end of the day great players make all coaches look smarter then they really are, unless your name is Belichik. And you have the gift of seeing things in players others always seem to miss. And regardless of their philosophy (see Chizik) plug in an All American nose tackle, and voila just like that your team is tough to run on. But there are so few of those guys, and everyone wants them. Recruit better, team improves. That is why you pay the head coach $10 million. Not just because he knows how to handle the coin toss.
  10. Was that Christian Okoye? The guy no one wanted to stand next to during the NFL combine?
  11. aggy will never be a threat in the SEC. The Birmingham Boys would never allow it, and apparently aggy was to fucking stupid and petulant to recognize it. The power of the SEC brought aggy in for no other reason then a physical presence in Texas. Which they achieved. They wanted Texas, but at gun point. So instead they went after the retarded brother. One that would say yes to anything to get separation from their own paranoia. They knew that Texas would never be prostrate to those in Birmingham. So any negotiations would have died in committee. Texas could still be a world class institution in the SEC, just not as Alabama’s bitch. Way to many on this site, and others. Believe it was, or is acedemics that kept Texas from getting involved with the SEC. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It was about power. Those in Austin were not about to live under a currupt Alabama rule. Equal voices? Perhaps. But never a rubber stamp member. aggy in the other hand obviously has no problem with it....yet. Give it time, it is only going to get worse for aggy. They need only ask their former SWC member Arkansas how things have fared since joining. A member since 1992, and hasn’t sniffed a conference title in football and never will.
  12. Last three throws, one high, one bounced, and one thrown away.
  13. Aaron may want to get his State Farm agent on the line and file a claim on his personal injury coverage. That arm is hurt...
  14. Gratuitous spot
  15. Damn, after watching college football all day yesterday, and then watching this game. Pro defenses are really fucking fast.
  16. I just don’t get the analysis of how ND had to go the road at a tough Northwestern team? What is that? Half the Big12 could put 50 on Northwestern. And Michigan? Ok, they supposedly have a good defense, but who have they played that has an offense that you would want? Hell, the shitty ND QB beat em before the went with Ian Book. Then Georgia blows its wad against LSU, which scored zero points against Bama? How good are the really?
  17. You apparently have never went double or nothing on a all carry 185 yard par 3 into an island green. Making a clean second swing is pretty fucking hard to pull off, and the guy who does it deserves the cash.
  18. Lutz, I posted on this last week when cameras kept picking up his emotional reactions during the broadcast. And how they have being doing this since the K-State game where the cameras caught him doing dramatic exhale thing while looking up to the sky as time expired. I believe it was then they picked up on it. And now are simply focusing on it. As I said in my previous post from last week. There is nothing wrong with it per se, as it is just the bodies way of relieving the stress the brain is under during an emotional event. And though the man is under intense pressure he unfortunately has not yet learned how to manage the physical side of it. And isn’t cognizant that people are watching. Yeah I know he makes millions, yada, yada. But he is still human.
  19. Uh, naw I’m just gonna let it go.
  20. Because it is a logical take free from emotion.
  21. Jesus Christ, do some of you even watch other teams in this conference? There is some serious parity. Fucking Rhule has Baylor back to looking decent. You’re going to drive yourselfs crazy cherry picking a few plays that coulda, woulda, shoulda. And I agree, everyone pretty much knew they would sustain a drive on that last possession. But, that pretty much is how every game in the Big12 seems to play out. Because everyone has enough offensive power that they can make a run when they know they are behind and have nothing to lose if they don’t. So they throw caution to the wind let it all hang out and take chances. Even with Texas having the best defense in the league, it’s still a tall order to completely shut these types of attacks down when the opponent is knowingly taking chances. For reference go watch the LSU’s retarded attempt at such an endeavor last night. Sonny Six Thumbs, who the Ogre is completely misusing by the way. Pretty much like Guz is doing with Stidem. Couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a bazooka. In our league we can run hitches, posts and curls when the opponent plays man, and you know, complete them.
  22. As a guy with no horse in the race, I thought he did pretty good considering. I mean the kid started slow on his first two series, but then he threw 3 TD’s. Christ what else do you want coming off the bench?
  23. Yeah, but that hair job! Sooo natural...
