  1. The goal of the program should be to make the tournament every year, and have a legitimate chance to compete for the title. Having a home schedule that makes the fans happy doesn't necessarily preclude that, but when roster turnover is what it is, having easily winnable games in a friendly environment early in the season may further the cause more so than coin flip games against marquee programs. Miller having opportunities to experiment with lineups without having to risk losses is a beneficial thing. We will have plenty of games on the schedule to boost RPI and KenPom numbers. I know many won't agree with this take, and I'm not even sure that I do, but I do see the logic in it, even if it isn't what I want. That said, there should be a way to achieve a happy medium where we can find a way to squeeze in a home and home with a blue blood.
  2. I would kill for your flexibility. How does your ass taste?
  3. "Spurs" and "friendly" have no business being in the same sentence.
  4. That's a completely different goalpost, and makes a much better argument.
  5. If only we played in a good conference to make up for that.
  6. He may be feeling the effects of what he has already accomplished, but I think a lot of it is that he is simply riding with a little more maturity these days, likely under team direction. He has the gap he needs to win handily, and some of the toughest climbs are still to come. He can play defense the rest of the Tour. It's boring, but smart. That said, I wish he would go back to riding like a tireless kid and go for more stage wins.
  7. Yep, sucked for Ben to not get the win, but major props to all of them being able to stay out front. I liked Visma's tactics today, and they executed fairly well. Not getting anything from Yates, hurt, but it likely would not have mattered.
  8. It was his kid's birthday. He wanted screen time.
  9. Clark needs a "Pay Me What You Owe Me" shirt.
  10. JV’s. No more Jumbo. It's now Visma - Lease a Bike. As for Visma's tactics, tomorrow is a rest day. Let the guys who have been working for Jonas have a little fun. UAE did the same with Wellens.
  11. If you ever contemplate leaving Texas, make sure you factor "no H.E.B." into your equation. I get by, but I sure miss them.
  12. I'm at the point where, assuming he is as clean as the rest of the field, that I want Tadej to take the stage wins record. He is almost halfway there. If he can stay healthy and his prime window isn't cut short, I think he has a chance. On the other hand, stages like today where riding defensively makes sense will hinder his efforts. He needed Jonas to be a little stronger and actually be a threat to win the stage. I think if he made a conscious effort to go for the record, he would get it. For me, the record belongs in the hands of a GC rider who has won the tour multiple times, not a sprint specialist who frequently needs help to avoid being disqualified on time deficit.
  13. Maybe you should stop questioning him...give someone else a chance.
  14. I'm aware of the complaints about wanting to sign Madueke, but I have not been following close enough to understand what the actual beef is. Aside from "some people just have to complain about everything," what's the main concern?
  15. I'm a Jonas fan, but I agree with you. I just don't see him being able to do anything significant to make this a race, barring Tadej having a uncharacteristically bad day or getting unlucky. I think Visma is the stronger team now, but not strong enough to do what they did in 2022, when they were truly dominant.
  16. Sorry for partying.
  17. Not much. Tadej is perfectly capable of winning this thing without much team support. If he weren't already in yellow, then it might be a different story, but he can ride defensively, following wheels the rest of the Tour. UAE won't do that, of course, and will still plan attacks on the stages that suit him. There just won't be as many of those.
  18. Check that your NICs on the PC are actually enabled in Device Manager and that they are configured for DHCP and don't have preset IP addresses. Did ethernet on the PC ever work from your office? The problem could be any number of other things, but this are fairly easy to check. It is likely that the office ethernet may be configured with DHCP reservations or some other means of restricting device access to the network. In other words, if it doesn't recognize a device, then it won't give it a valid address. Offices often do this when they don't wany any schlub off the street connecting a random device to the network that might be infested with cybercooties. Just stick with wifi. For Surly surfing, it should be fine.
  19. Does anyone know if there is anything wrong with Sepp? Is it his job to shadow Primož or something? Saving him for the big mountain stages?
  20. How many interpreters are we going to need on staff?
  21. Then you should have said MIT instead of Harvard.
