  1. Yes. But… we would always kick the easy FG instead of going for it.
  2. It’s become painfully apparent that so many people we would call “farmers” are in fact just plantation owners. These dudes don’t work their farms and don’t want to. Just watch all these interviews with “farmers” belly-aching about needing to do their own farm work because of immigration crackdowns. They own the land and the equipment, exploit cheap labor from a captive workforce that has no rights, and collect the profits.
  3. Let me tell ya something: I dig your work. Playing one side against the other, in bed with everybody. Just fabulous stuff.
  4. Funny how Stassney gets suspended and then this jackass immediately shows up to spout similarly inane bullshit.
  5. That Knowledge Fight episode is gonna be the tits.
  6. Who’s that fucker in the tan suit with gray Lego hair?
  7. His hair looks like shit. But he’s alive.
  8. Heeeeeeere they come to love the Rooster. Oh yeah…
  9. This big, exciting announcement happen yet?
  10. Odds that they wheel out the animatronic Trump from Epcot?
  11. I’m with you on this. Trump is an accidental genius at persuading morons. He uses concise, simple phrases and slogans that latch themselves into the brains of the idiot mob like some kind of brainworm. He does this mainly because he’s an idiot and short and concise is all he’s capable of. But it works. Dude is an evil Chauncey Gardiner.
  12. In what sense? That there’s case law supporting the notion? Okay. But that misses the point, which is that the idea that the Friedman Doctrine is fucked up and destructive, is not at all an essential principle of capitalism, and jettisoning it could yield a better world.
  13. This fucking bullshit is one of the most destructive implicit assumptions in modern history. Economists or some talking head say this shit with confident authority, as if it’s a law of nature, and we all nod and say “Can’t argue with that!” I’m as guilty as anyone in that regard (or at least I once was). But it’s not at all self-apparent that management’s highest ideal should be maximizing returns to investors. Why is that the case? Why should that obligation not be secondary to other concerns, such as the well-being of employees or the minimization of externalities? Why is the pure maximization of profit to people who chipped in a few bucks at the front end (or worse, speculated by buying shares on the secondary market) the unquestionable ultimate duty of those who collectively manage a massive slice of the world’s productive and destructive capacity?
  14. That was my gut reaction, too. Then I thought about it for a minute. The next guy in line is a puppet of far right plutocrats. And I wouldn’t be surprised if he picks Gabbard as his VP.
  15. I’m not prone to conspiracy theories, but the timeline of events is curious. Especially considering the reports that Trump allies left the summit meeting visibly shaken.
  16. Whoever is ghost-writing these sucks. That reads very close to how Trump talks. But it’s not at all his written style, which is very different. Dude would never use commas correctly to indicate the pauses in his cadence. And he would never type a phrase like “lo and behold” (much less spell “lo” correctly). Something weird is going on. Even weirder than the usual bizarre state of affairs in this janky-ass administration.
  17. My guess? They wheeled out a Madame Tussaud’s wax figure and the forehead was melting.
  18. Spider 2 Y Bananazi
  19. I don’t follow WWE specifically (and really never have). But I am a fan of local indie wrestling. My sense is the fanbase has evolved since kayfabe died. It used to be that wrestling shows were chock full of yokels who thought it was real. There were a few smart fans who were in on the gag (so-called “smarks” in wrestling lingo) and there to enjoy the show with tongue firmly in cheek. But they weren’t the majority. These days, the crowd is all smarks. Everyone knows it’s fake. The secret is out. So the fans who are looking for real combat now go to shit like UFC, which skews right. In my experience, modern wrestling crowds are pretty diverse and open-minded. The promotion in Austin hosts drag shows every so often and openly supports the LGBTQ community. (Okay, it’s Austin. But still…) People don’t go to wrestling for fights; they go to watch performance art.
  20. Same. I realized yesterday as I watched OSU’s defense humiliate Arch and Sark that I just don’t give a shit anymore. College football is morphing into some weird fascist bread and circus cultural celebration. And the massive amount universities and alumni spend to support the football teams (rather than academics) is perfectly symbolic of how fucked up American culture has become. We are not a serious country.
  21. I was in LA the week that shit unfolded. The idea that the city was in any way at risk is laughable. We explored Southern California, from La Jolla to Leo Carrillo and... up to... Pismo, and literally the only protest we witnessed was a few old ladies peacefully holding anti-ICE signs outside of a Ralph’s in Venice.
